JANUARY EVENT LOG

✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. ✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.

✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.

that's what catches his attention mostly, and his eyes remain attached to the sign before feeling the need to blink, resign his fate, and act like a normal person for once. he doenst too much pay attention to shin at first, considering komaeda pays mind to everyone, but it's just the little shop that reminds him of... )

( his words are slightly hesitant, but he manages to keep a smile on his face. does well in not biting the inside of his cheek, and he kneels down with his hands on his lap politely, looking over the array of snacks that are for sale.

( he glances at the green scarf for a moment as if there's an answer stitched into the fabric, and then down at the items being sold. )

[He scratches at the scarf under Komaeda's gaze. It's not expensive silk blend, but it's warm and knitted with love by Nene. If you touch this he's shutting up shop.]
Tell you what... If you buy something and have dice on you, I'll let you roll for what you get.
[Some things are tastier or more desirable than others, but at the end of the day these were all initially picked out by Shin for his own consumption and fit either his tastes or Sportacus's advice, so whatever Komaeda picks or his strange luck gets him, he's not going to lose out too much.]

he feigns a little frown, which could be entirely believable if not for who happens to be frowning, but he cheers up soon after. can't have everything like the old store, now can they? he doesn't sit down yet, he mulls over the gamble, and he's never been against playing a little dice — wonder if the dice gods will be kind to him unlike the safe. )

( his eyes looks over the items the other has scavenged, and if he's being honest with himself, komaeda's lost his appetite awhile ago. so rather than eating for himself, he thinks that offering it off once he gains something sounds the easiest, he has ultimates to feed (along with having shin somewhere he can't really escape, komaeda's a dog, and he latches onto what he wants). komaeda nods as he digs into the pockets of his jacket, there's not one dice there. )
Wait, I believe I saw... ( he'll scurry off quickly, a little bounce in his step until he finds a few dice-like objects underneath ouma's picture — they're like rocks with no sides that have no dots. as he walks back over to the small shop, shin will see komaeda with a pen as he's filling them in. )

[Just because he has a favorite outfit that he's only ever seen without on sufferance! Geez. The beanie is Nene's work too... but that's a little harder to tell given it's a similar dark green colour to usual.
While Komaeda's scurrying around, Shin does what he did with Sara which is turn on his phone and have Rantaro on call a button press away under the table. He's also been banking on the fact that anyone wanting to get to him either has to go around or jump over a hot kotatsu table; that might give Shin enough time to make a break for it. Cold as it is at least the dorm isn't iced over.]

[He has about that much in stock currently; the rest is safely stashed away in locked Moon 1. He's looking dubiously at the stones because those look weighted just by default, but it's not really a problem per se.]

[Talk about price gouging... It's still technically cheaper just because you're getting something a little more valuable than a roadside rock. Shin's just filling in for Npc-kun until the lights come back on, in a sense.]

( he's digging in his pocket, and what would anyone expect from the rich, he pulls out about ¥1500, setting it on the table between them. there's also the rocks set on the surface so that the other can inspect them. )

( shin's skittish, frets over every little thing, and the last thing he wants is to be fooled by a customer, probably. who would if they take the position as a shopkeeper, the only thing this place is missing is stealing an item, and then fingers break upon escape. ) Tsukimi-kun, Tsukimi-kun... you should roll first.

Affects his hot rating up or down, this is the vital question. Honestly the fact of anything around or touching his neck is uncomfortable at this point, but Nene made it for him and more practically he has to hide the healing bruise somehow. He's just not going to follow the thread of that leading question, he knows how Komaeda works.]

[It's sardonic, he knows Komaeda's absolutely loaded from multiple experiences; the note vanishes into his pocket, leaving the lonely 500 yen coin waiting for a partner. Shin wouldn't be able to stop anyone stealing beyond a sharp eye and a sharp word, but it would end this small experiment in running his own grocery store fairly early. He halfheartedly takes the die and checks it over... he's kept his word at least, they're all fairly evenly spaced out. It's with the die in his hand that Komaeda plys his statement like a striking snake.]

that's the fun of the gamble, why he placed the extra change there too. komaeda's stacked, he doesn't care, but he does have a gear that runs in his head to place gacha at least once. he doesn't need to, this is shin, and not npckun, there's a difference between them both that makes komaeda act the way he does. this is someone hiding where as npckun is stronger, putting themselves out there, but it must be nice to hide behind a mask, and a role, no one can truly bother shin if he played shopkeeper.

Shin definitely is scared of him... there Komaeda goes, rubbing it in. Urk, don't remind him of the puzzles either. That said... everything on the table is something Shin picked out for his own consumption, some on Sportacus's advice, it's all roughly of an equal value to him plus or minus the cans of soup and the more healthy things.
So since it doesn't matter so much what Komaeda picks even with his strange luck... Shin doesn't really have much to lose and, apparently, 500 yen to gain. He'll just take that...]

( no different than an excited dog who's netted attention, and now the ball has been thrown. his eyes are trained on the dice to watch then roll onto the table over and over, and as they knock against the surface it doesn't take too long until they come to a stop and reveals the number: 11.
with a hum, he reaches out with his index and middle to sit on top of the dice to pull his way. )

( one through ten being lows, and eleven thorough twenty high, and they could have called each other's rolls then. it'd be quicker and the anticipation wouldn't be as bad, given how quickly they would expose their hand to prove the other wrong. komaeda picks up the die, shaking it in his grasp as he thinks on when to release. )

( he drops the die onto the table, watching them roll and knock against one another until the final number shows itself, a "12". komaeda's not even looking at his roll, but enthusiastically in shin's direction. )

[Effectively, declaring they're going low just to win it... which means when he rolls again and gets a fifteen, it's with a touch of a sour expression. Also urk, shout his name why don't you... (don't actually). He knows what you're doing.]

[What happens after is he goes back to running his stall unless Komaeda wants to put down more yen... in an ideal world. He's not going to guess, because he has the feeling Komaeda's going to tell him anyway.]

( is that how they're going to play it, he guesses that's fine, it shakes up the game a little. that being said, if komaeda rolled lower — he would have said the highest obtains victory? either way, shin would have won the first roll anyway, and the ultimate finds that entertaining. he picks up the roll, looking at the fifteen in his hands. )
