JANUARY EVENT LOG

✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...

The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. ✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.

✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.

Well... It was... How do I put it. Full of life?

It wasn't in the best of shape, it was under reconstruction while we were there, buuuut there was definitely a lot of nature around. It was like this school where we lived on campus though, and were able to fix our own meals and stuff -- you could say it was kind of like a... an exercise in self-study. Not a proper school with teachers and such, but still a place where you were supposed to learn and grow.
[that's probably the best and vaguest way she can answer while not mentioning the parts that amami had clearly left out of his explanation to hiyori, too.]

[Since she had mentioned nature and all that. The change of subject to her own school is welcome, however, as she wears a warm smile.
But there's something about her expression that's more mature than childish, and the way she speaks is like she's talking nostalgically; about something from a long time ago instead of something recent.]
It's a nice school. I come from a small village, so our school isn't very big. We didn't have a lot of classrooms, or even staff members, so everyone, despite what year they were in shared the same class. Our teacher is very kind and cares about all of us; you could probably say that the school was like another home, really. And I had a lot of fun with the club and with the members in it. I miss them a lot every day.

[could theirs have ended up the same, despite the circumstances? there's no way kaede nor anyone else would want to spend their entire time there, but... for the time that they would have spent there, would it have become the same? just as yogen seems to have gelled itself in the same way, with moments of happiness and company despite the situation they've fallen into?
there truly was a chance for it, and kaede presses her hands together in some hope that her small wish hanging on the tree from christmas passes on to them. she'll set the cloth aside, gesturing to the chair she's pulled up here for rika to sit at; kaede herself will lean against the side of the piano for comfort.]
Talking about the people we miss helps keep their memories alive, and lets us remember the good times we shared with them -- so I'd like to hear about the people you knew, and I'll tell you about some of mine in return. They were all very... unique people, just like the ones here.

[About the people she cares about with all of her heart. Those who have helped and saved her in the past.]
My friends were pretty unique, too. But I think that their uniqueness... their strength--it's what makes me look up to them. One of those was named Maebara Keiichi. He was someone who had transferred into our small little village from the big city. While he sometimes made a fool of himself for losing in our club games and had to be forced into wearing cute punishment outfits by Mii, Keiichi always had a strong conviction. He was the one who taught me that fate was something that you could break through. Mii-- Sonozaki Mion, she was our club leader. She goofs around a lot, but she was really responsible when she had to be. She's someone that's really inspiring and is someone that I look up to. She never made things boring.
[Her whimsical nature helped with that.]
Rena is really kind. She has a soft spot for things that she considers kyute, and has almost tried to take me home on more than one occasion.
[She allows for a pause there, allowing Kaede to speak. Of course, she has so much to talk about and she's eager - it's something so fresh, to talk about her friends with other people, a new experience that she's never had before. It's really kind of amazing, in some ways, that she gets the chance to do this, in spite of their current situation.]

She...probably shouldn't say too much that might make things weird, or make it so that she's easy to tease.] She's my very best friend, from back home. She's really strong, too: a radiant sun in the darkness. She has the courage to smile even in the toughest of times...

You're lucky. Most people don't meet someone like that in their lifetime -- I haven't, that's for sure. Rika looks a bit sheepish at having her head stroked like that; it was usually the other way around for her--giving headpats out of pity, or because she felt bad for them. But this is a lot warmer than that.

Um, varied. One of them is here, actually -- Amami-kun. He's a relaxing guy to be around, even if he can be sort of cryptic at times... But definitely someone you can depend on.
[she has fifteen classmates she already knows she's going to give some of them less showtime. but not amami, since he's here and furade should absolutely meet him.]
You had some super smart people, like Shinguji-kun, who liked to study humanity, and Iruma-san, who's vulgar mouth hid an inventor of some pretty convenient things... Ouma-kun was like a mischievous kid, always lying and trying to get a rise out of others. Yumeno-san was a magician -- well, she called herself a mage, and claimed she could perform unfathomable feats of magic... that honestly just sounded like parlor tricks to me.
[but there's no lack of fondness for the names she lists off; little as she'd known them, they were her classmates. even iruma.]
But maybe she really could, since I've seen proof of magic here now.
