JANUARY EVENT LOG

00:00 01/01

✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. Please refer to the aforementioned link for details about the school.
✽ As of midnight, no npcs can be found inside the school, including the library ghost, the gardener, and the cats. If a character were near an npc at midnight, it would appear as if they'd disappeared into the shadows the moment the world went dark.

??? whenever you guys solve the void

✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.
✽ The science lab is now open. Add will probably elbow people out of the way getting here, but he gets dibs on the anatomical model: it is warm to the touch, and rather than being made of plastic, the skin, muscle, bones, other organs feel very much real. He thinks they might be. The rest of the room is set up like a typical research lab, with all the basic chemicals and equipment: a refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage tank, sonicator, incubator, autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, mass spectrometer, and a high performance liquid chromatography system.
✽ It snows on and off and the sky remains overcast with no sign of the sun all month.

OOC

✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.
✽ All npcs will be ICly unavailable until we unvoid the school.

( voices, huh? so it's different from their regular void... that information is pocketed away for amami's next death wish, but for now, he focuses on the task at hand. )

Not sure who might've been hoarding. Honestly, I think some of us were counting on our trusty shopkeeper and the vending machines keeping us stocked for our next break, so I doubt that there's anyone with too many non-perishables.

( shin, maybe, but amami's not going to rat him out; he's a cautious type, but doesn't seem so selfish as to withhold from someone really in need. if he is, they can cross that bridge personally. )

I can definitely help with keeping stock though. Maybe we could think up some recipes — if we're careful with how we use it, we can make it stretch a lot longer.

( and if there's anything amami's good at when it comes to the kitchen, it'd be survival cooking. )

That tracks. It just means there's less to deal with.

[Because Lucifer doesn't feel like dealing with it.

Scribble, scribble...]

That's a great point on the recipes. I like cooking, but I'm much more used to having a wealth of resources at my disposal, [which might be obvious from just how extravagant his meals tend to be,] so I would appreciate help with coming up with recipes.

No problem. Survival cooking is kind of my specialty, so I'm happy to be of assistance.

( also, as always, busy hands keep his mind occupied too, preventing him from falling into a bottomless pit of despair. so he appreciates being allowed to lend a hand! )

What do we have to work with anyway? The dorms looked pretty okay when I last saw them, but it sounds like you've got a proper inventory on it.

Not much. Considering everything in the kitchen here is gone, we're down to what's in the dorms and the water in the vending machines. The gardening club was growing food on the roof, though I imagine that, too, might be gone. I haven't had a moment to look, yet.

[He taps the back of his pen against his notebook impatiently before pocketing it.]

Have you been up there? If not, we might make the trip together to check and see if my hunch is correct.

Uh, you could say that... I was up there when midnight hit, so I hate to say it, but I don't think your crops made it to this side.

( not only that, but... )

There's not much floor left to speak of on the fourth floor, either.

( so he'd have a pretty hard time getting back up to the roof besides. )

Anyway, it's rough if we've lost that much. Still, we have our shopkeeper to thank for the dorms being pretty well supplied, don't we? ( they've single-handedly saved us all. ) As long as we have some of the basics — potatoes, rice — things like that, we should be able to make it until we can find a way out of here.

( he's not assuming it'll be long — he's not about to make them cry because he went missing for three whole weeks again. )

[Lucifer's wings shift with irritation, feathers puffing out like an angry cockatoo because even if this man's token animal is a peacock I refuse to believe he doesn't puff up okay. That aside...]

I see. I wasn't at Hinata's party, [he was laying on Sidney trying to sleep because his bedtime is like 10pm] so, naturally, I have no idea what the state of the rooftop looks like.

[Now... as for further inventory,]

We did have quite a lot of rice when I briefly looked, but I haven't done a full check through everything. I use the dorm kitchens more often than not, so I have a general gist of what's in there. It does seem like that's it for us, however.

Well, I'm not sure about you, but I don't intend to be here for that long. Like I said, if we've got it, we can stretch it to last as long as we need. Hopefully it won't be too long.

( puffing is valid though, because amami felt much the same when this whole mess started. lucifer is actually so right for that. with a wave of his hand though, amami offers a smile. )

It could be worth checking out. I don't think anybody spent too long investigating up there, since we were all so worried about how we were going to get back down. We could've missed something important.
