JANUARY EVENT LOG
00:00 01/01
✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. Please refer to the aforementioned link for details about the school.
✽ As of midnight, no npcs can be found inside the school, including the library ghost, the gardener, and the cats. If a character were near an npc at midnight, it would appear as if they'd disappeared into the shadows the moment the world went dark.

??? whenever you guys solve the void
✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.
✽ The science lab is now open. Add will probably elbow people out of the way getting here, but he gets dibs on the anatomical model: it is warm to the touch, and rather than being made of plastic, the skin, muscle, bones, other organs feel very much real. He thinks they might be. The rest of the room is set up like a typical research lab, with all the basic chemicals and equipment: a refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage tank, sonicator, incubator, autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, mass spectrometer, and a high performance liquid chromatography system.
✽ It snows on and off and the sky remains overcast with no sign of the sun all month.

OOC
✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.
✽ All npcs will be ICly unavailable until we unvoid the school.

I- What?
[Hang on he needs to turn that around in his head so it will fit. He. Wrestled Midori. Tried to wrestle Midori. Okay. She could be lying but... surely a lie has to be believable?]
Can't imagine that ended well...
[She's not wrong about Gin's life, either... He wasn't lying, back up there on the roof. If it was her, Keiji, or Gin, he definitely would have picked Gin. Plotting something, huh...]
no subject
[ There's warmth in that memory, despite the context. She'd been scared at the time but...looking back they'd really pulled together, even for just a moment. A little bit of solidarity that hadn't been lost. ]
I never thought I'd see you berating him into action... and er...it didn't. But you were fine?
[ Midori had a different target in that fight. Both Sou and Sara had come out okay, if only because Keiji was the one who took the fall. ]
no subject
[That does make the odds feel a little better, in Shin's mind, and it makes sense Keiji would want to ensure Midori got his comeuppance. It plugs in to what he already knows, too... this must have been where Keiji tried to kill Midori, then, Sara's tag taken from her to do it with.]
Fine... huh. Guess his attention was focused on Keiji at the time...
[The more dangerous threat trapped, with an hour until death. Knowing Midori, though, he'd have been petty enough to have something planned for Shin later. He never did take that sort of thing well.]
Ahaha, maybe I was copying you, Sara. Things you do seem to work out for you, don't they? Mostly.
[If you can't understand how someone can achieve the things they can do... mimicry is what's left, and hoping you've struck the chord. Mostly... not always, or she wouldn't be here at all.]
no subject
[ She bites her lip...not sure if she should contridict Shin's opinion. Midori...hadn't really seemed to care about Sou in general. She's not sure if that was the right take away. How could she, an observer for a few hours, analyze any of that. It was too much. But Sou had come through ok, and thats what really mattered. ]
Work out for me? That's not right at all...come on.
[ She'd lost her best friend, she'd died, she'd become a horrible person. Sara can't see any winning in that! ]
no subject
[He hadn't been there when they'd had that debate in the Russian Roulette room; this is news to him right now and he's assuming it came up after he died but... it makes sense. Shin's thinking of his own apparent experience with guns, and the idea that might have happened to him as well is going to haunt him a bit now.]
Well, in a general sense things don't... [She's a very unlucky girl, he might say.] But herding cats is your forte, isn't it?
[The skill that everyone looks up to her for, for good or ill. There's a reason he'd asked her to round up everyone for the escape attempt; the trust everyone had in her, but also her ability to get people to do things with it.]
no subject
[ YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU WEREN'T A COWARDLY LITTLE WEASEL. ]
Er...I guess? Keiji's just weird though...a lot of the time I have no idea what he's thinking.
[ She seems a little embarrassed? ]
no subject
[HE LIKES NOT BEING SHOT AT THANKS. IT'S GOT NOTHING TO RECOMMEND IT, HE WOULD KNOW.]
You and me both... He's a surprisingly slippery guy, isn't he?
[He's still salty about that trick with the card trade amongst all those other things that stack up in his mind when he thinks about the man.]
no subject
[ Shin can die mad abt the card trick (AND HE DID), Sara idolizes this guy. Look at mr card sender over here, he got sent a bad card. Gonna cry? ]
He means well. You're pretty hard on him, but I think thats just 'cause he's a lot like you.
[ Which comes out...surprisingly nice? Even Sara is a little surprised. It's not wrong though, not even that they had the same scent of trauma and shattered innocence. It's that they were both nice deep down, even so. ]
no subject
[He can't even 'oh' that one. He's owned himself.]
Guess it would have come up, huh...
[He'd already suggested Sara ask him about the dummy bullets, as someone who would almost certainly know more, have that expertise. It makes sense that he would be asked to handle the gun, even if some part of Shin had been suspecting Sara convinced everyone to let her do it off the bat. His mental gaze drifts back to the rotten tooth that is the memorandum. Was... Midori set on Keiji just for that? Just so there'd be no other candidates other than Sara? Ruined his life just for that small detail so that everything would go smoothly? So what does it mean he apparently taught Shin? The little fan is whirring heavily, and all it's doing is making something heavy form in the pit of his stomach.]
......
That's a rather unflattering comparison of you. I'd like to think I don't flirt with highschoolers, Sara.
[That somewhat belies the point there are similarities, more now with the revelation of Midori's involvement. He will and did die mad about the trade but as Sara's brackets say up there it's not like he didn't do underhanded tactics himself, or get people killed himself.
Maybe it's that, if they're the same, what does it say that Keiji opted to screw him over rather than take the Sacrifice from Sara? Shin can at least cling to that one point of difference.
Unlike logic Sou, who got the closest to closure he was ever going to get from Keiji, this one's had half a year to calcify his impression of him as someone who'd hated him... even if he probably would still work with him to take Midori down.]
no subject
[ It might be true that the way he'd treated her had been a little offputting at first, but Keiji had proven himself trustworthy forward and back. At this point, Sara has a pretty good guess at his intentions, always saying something distracting and strange when Sara pushed him. It just became part of the dynamic, till all his walls had to be torn away, and she saw what kind of person he really was. Someone who truely loved their mentor figure clearly wouldn't be interested in something like that. ]
This wasn't a charming discussion when Keiji and you had it in the hall, and its not charming now! Ugh...he's not that kind of guy!
[ Now she's also remembering Gashu's comments. Augh. She's covering her ears now, don't say things like this! ]
It's a flattering comparison, because I like Keiji. He's a good person. If he shows up here, you need to be nice to him. You both tried to kill eachother, so just make up!! He meant well, and holding onto grudges makes nobody happy.
[ Is this about Keiji anymore? ]
no subject
[Which in Shin-speak means, no he won't. It's clear Sara believes it, which is only deepening Shin's dislike for the usual projective reasons, somewhat to his own surprise. He'll drop the subject, though. Rose-tinted goggles sure make it hard to see, and even harder to listen.]
Is that an order from on high, O fearless leader? Ah, that's mean of me...
[Especially after finding out how deep the fissures of that weight have gone... he should leave that one alone, maybe. He leans an elbow on the kotatsu, propping up his head with a hand, one finger pushing a can back and forth by it's rim on the other.]
I'll be nice to him if he's nice to me, how's that for a deal? [And not likely, Shin thinks.] Grudges, huh... So does just letting anything someone does to you slide make you happy?
[He's tired of it. It's hard for him to hold grudges, honestly, an uphill battle he has to work at, but the same part of him that flares up warning bells when people are suspiciously nice to him is what lets him do so in the first place. He doesn't like it.
But this isn't really about Keiji, and he can tell. He was perfectly willing to leave it at 'we both killed each other' before she'd throttled him. Hard to see that as 'meaning well'.]
no subject
When I take revenge, thats not right, but if let other peoples actions slide...I'm weak. It's hard, right? You can't win.
[ It's strange because to Sara there had never been a killed eachother. Shin had tried to kill her, and she's tried to get over it, made a poor choice to work with him over Kanna, felt the consequences. There's a lot of emotion tied up there...but not a lot of tit for tat. By her own admission, her decision was hardly grounded in well thought out reason. There were a lot of things in the game that hadn't been fair...a type of bone deep unfairness that Sara had never seen before, the kind that bears strange twisted fruit but...a grudge...a need for revenge. Sara didn't think she had that. She didn't want to destroy herself that way. ]
So, I'm just not happy. Anyway, getting along with people is better. That's the only truth I need. If you just forget about it, things work out better.
no subject
[If they fought for real Shin would be a smear on the ground, and he knows it. Don't need to worry about that one, Sara, as far as he's concerned.
Verbal sparring now... absolutely still on the table, even if Keiji's got more fencing skill there as well. Even with Shin getting the hang of it, the gap is smaller.]
...the world's cruel that way, isn't it?
[All you can do is be caught in it's jaws, if you aren't already strong. He hasn't found a solution to it, beyond the dim inklings behind a pane of smoked glass he's been reaching for here, with as much thought as a plant towards sunlight and as much pain as resetting a bone. The last sentence sours in his ears, his smile taking on that calcified cast.]
Do they now? [Do they, Sara? Has forgetting things worked out for him? There's things he doesn't want to remember, but that's different. What you don't know can hurt you equally as much as what you do.] Hey, Sara? How many times did you use Safalin's machine? Did forgetting Joe work out better for you?
[There's a point in here... somewhere.]
no subject
[ She looks up to face him, hackles already raising. She didn't know what tripwire she'd stumbled into this time, what caused this flip in tone, whatever was about to make what he said next awful. It was just like back on the roof, when she'd known it would happen and hoped she'd be strong enough not to react. ]
You know I didn't want to forget him. I don't know why I can't remember...but thats not any of your business anymore. [ She talked about that to him in...confidence? It wasn't a secret, but she'd felt comfortable about it because they were friends. ]
...Don't try and make me mad.
no subject
[He says this, with his heart behind his face in his throat, and his finger over the button under the table, withdrawn ostensibly to his jacket pocket... and it's knife. She caught him off guard last time, but.]
Well, who do we know who can steal memories, Sara? That'd be the place I'd start.
[So you could say it is his business, as things concerning Midori are? His tone is dry, the kind of slow when he's spelling something out for you.]
...Are you going to buy anything else? You're holding up the line.
[There is no line. This is entirely one man's roleplay, and there's only 34 potential customers anyway.]
