✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. Please refer to the aforementioned link for details about the school.
✽ As of midnight, no npcs can be found inside the school, including the library ghost, the gardener, and the cats. If a character were near an npc at midnight, it would appear as if they'd disappeared into the shadows the moment the world went dark.

??? whenever you guys solve the void

✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.
✽ The science lab is now open. Add will probably elbow people out of the way getting here, but he gets dibs on the anatomical model: it is warm to the touch, and rather than being made of plastic, the skin, muscle, bones, other organs feel very much real. He thinks they might be. The rest of the room is set up like a typical research lab, with all the basic chemicals and equipment: a refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage tank, sonicator, incubator, autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, mass spectrometer, and a high performance liquid chromatography system.
✽ It snows on and off and the sky remains overcast with no sign of the sun all month.

✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.
✽ All npcs will be ICly unavailable until we unvoid the school.

( there's a lot to focus on. but sidney's biggest concern? making sure they don't freeze to death while they go without power. so at various points throughout their... stay, you may catch the man going into the woods with an axe. when stopped and questioned... )

We need firewood while we're here. Otherwise I suspect the cold will get to everyone.

ii. wildcard

( there's a reason this took forever to post and that's 'i couldn't think of other prompts', sorryyyy. anyways )

[Lucifer has a bedtime of like 10pm because he's old, which means he's already in bed conked out on Sidney (because Sidney is his pillow and he will not entertain arguments at this time) when the world shifts and they're cast into the void.

The disturbance wakes him thanks to his weird supernatural senses, but all he does is shift and grumble a bit, readjusting the blankets.]

...I'm not getting out of bed. [mutter, mutter.]

( unfortunately, it's already very dark in their room- so the nature of whatever the hell that was, other than wrong, is lost to sidney when he tries to sit up. that, however, is impeded by the arm holding him down. lucifer.

sighing, sidney runs his hand through his hair. )

We don't even know what's happening. It could be worse than we think.

Something happened. No one is dead, probably.

[He's so grouchy when he's woken up.]

It takes more than just being sucked into the void to kill people around here.

[Lucifer can recognize the void with only one red eye cracked open. Like, that's obviously where they are. It's dark and there's sound and his senses are 100% telling him that they're in Void Territory which means someone bled somewhere and oh well. He cannot be assed.]

... Lu. Neither of us saw blood make contact with the floor or walls. How did we get voided?

( if the rules have changed, he's going to be livid- but more than that, he's just disturbed. they were both sleeping- or trying to, anyways. eyes closed. no one in there but the two of them. not a drop of blood.

...no, we were asleep. The shifting in the world woke me.

[Since he has that weird supernatural sense and all. That, at least, gets him to shuffle and sit up, letting the blankets pool in his lap.]

Someone nearby must have done something. The radius for the change is small, so perhaps next door, or in the hallway outside...

[Ugh. He supposes he'll get dressed so that he doesn't walk out into the hallway in only sweatpants.]

Even then, we still have to see it, too-

( already, he can hear others in the dorm moving, some not quite sure if its quiet hours or not- but he can finally sit up properly. ... wait- )

[Lucifer blindly swats around the bedside table for his phone, muttering something about "time being paused" before he pulls it in front of his face and turns on the screen.]

...midnight, on the dot.

[No wonder he's so groggy, since they only slept about two hours.]

I guess that gives us full confirmation we're in the void, given we wouldn't hear each other otherwise.

Right... what the hell happened? This doesn't feel like all the other times, even with the initial inconsistency...

( up, up, lu! they've got to check on things- wait. sidney pauses, looking back at lucifer. )

Weren't some of the kids having a birthday/new years eve party on the roof? How safe is that place in the void-

[Yes, yes, the bird is getting up... he's dressed now, look, he's wearing a shirt. He doesn't bother putting his vest on, but at least he's decent enough to go figure out what's wrong...]

It's mildly safer than being on the fourth floor at all, but it's possible some of the partygoers fell into the actual void. The one you don't come back from.

[He gets up and if Sidney's not dressed, he'll yeet a shirt at Sidney like get dressed let's go. Now he cares, see?]

( sidney is partially dressed in the sense that he isn't fond of sleeping shirtless, but is still in pajamas. because, you know. it's midnight and he was sleeping. but he at least needs his coat and some shoes- )

Right, that's the last thing we need. Why they had to party on the roof after a snowstorm is beyond me--

[~~Sidney should sleep shirtless??????~~ Lucifer will hand Sidney his coat and his shoes because Lucifer is a gentleman, thanks.]

I assume it's because they thought no one would bleed and throw us all into the void, though if they're on the roof, and we're here... the radius for being cast into this alternate hellscape is too large. That already tells me that something is wrong, if that's the point of origin anyway. Come on.

[He'll wait for Sidney to get his coat and shoes on and then bye he's gone.]

O-oh? ...Yeah.

[He's on his way back from through sorting through hundreds of years of yellowed PDA logs, it feels like he can still see them on the backs of his eyelids. He's tired, distracted, indeed cold... and distrustful. Not directly, but he's keeping a corner of an eye on the axe. It sparks conflicted feelings in him right now, like flint against stone, not quite catching.]

Right, we don't know how long we'll be here... At least we can get things bigger than sticks now. The axe sure is coming in handy, huh? Ahaha.

[There's only so long until whatever fuel the coffin uses is used up, as well, although that's something he'll have to ask Ranger about later.]

Mm. Definitely has fortunate timing.

( he's mostly glad it's wood that needs chopping and not flesh and bone, even if the wolf definitely deserved it. the real problem is getting everything back, but hiyori looks dead on his feet. )

[He feels tired. It's still very strange getting all this concern. Before Yogen at most he'd have the occasional customer comment if he'd visibly pulled an all-nighter... all-dayer? He's not sure what to do with it... especially coming from Sidney. The side of his brain saying it can't be genuine has a little less power there.]

I'm surprised you aren't, honestly. Guess you've been resting long enough...

[Of course, that's what comes out of his mouth.]

[Noah is not going to stop him because Noah wants Outside. Sidney may note that the kid has packed supplies for spelunking around the woods...]

[But spelunking can wait because dad needs tree. And, well, so does everyone else.]

Mm. ( not a direct yes or a no. but given that he can only carry so much and put so much force in his swings... ) You can come with if you want.

When it comes to things like these, you really should tell someone outright. There's no telling if the note would be misplaced before she could see it.

( it's not a scolding, just pointing out a fact. but sidney returns his attention to the woods. )

We should get supplies while we can. I'm not sure what's out there.

I-I know, but I thought she might try to tag along anyway... I'm scared of her getting hurt especially since I can't say no to her.

[Noah when he gets back: Why are you mad at me I left a note in my undecipherable handwriting?]

...Me neither. I'm good at foraging, though, so I can help look at the plants. Assuming they're normal plants, anyway. [Beat.] Let's go.

[Noah's already striding off as he says that. It's time to hang out in the woods, kids.]

( after a moment, sidney reaches over to ruffle his hair, the axe hooked via it's holder to his belt. but if he wants to go into the woods, then in they go. he understands being weak for a loved one- the only reason he can tell clamor no in the kitchen is because he really shouldn't have had his hands in the food processor, after all. )

Have you come into here before? What do you know so far?

[Listen Clamor is dumb (affectionate). Sometimes you stick your hands in the food processor. Noah would do the same thing had news not trickled down the grapevine and he found out that that's not what you do with food processors. Like father like son or something.]

I came in here the other day with... with Yukio, [is Noah turning red? yes] but we didn't find anything significant. No plants other than grass and pine trees, and no animals. It's cold, though. The pine trees offer protection from the elements as much as they can, and there are a couple spots that are safe to camp out in because of the lower canopies. Oh, and you can drink the water. It's fine to drink, it's just... you should boil it first, obviously.

( --hello? is that a blush? ... like father like son indeed. sidney chuckles, almost, but follows after. its easier despite noah's head start- sidney is tall and used to being fast regardless of impressions that may say otherwise. )

Boiling water has become an annoying norm, I think- I'm just glad it's for normal reasons and not "it's probably still tainted with blood". Let me know if you spot any trees on the smaller side- big enough to provide good wood, but not too big to handle bringing back even in chunks. Alright?

She has someone... he left, but she has him. I'm just glad she hasn't pushed me away in the meanwhile, and I haven't... tried talking to Yukio yet, but... I was planning on asking...

[Fidgets with his hands.]

She's also been through a lot and might need a bit more time- especially since as you said, the ghost boy left.

( because he's not about to judge for having multiple crushes- or more. but he also knows yashiro has... a lot of hurt she's shouldering that she doesn't know how to handle. and not a lot of people can help with that. )
