with the help of Chidouin-san, Add-kun, and Sakasaki-kun... the lights are back, and we are now rewarded.
...The hint was to go back home, we have to go back the way we came, and we all understand the meaning of that, I'm sure. We're requesting the aid of those who are capable of drawing blood in order to see this feat accomplished. We're in need of 5L, and with a variety of blood so I hope everyone can take part so that other's don't have to compensate for someone else.
If you're unsure of your typing, I gave a list below, use it to figure out what you're donating so we don't have more than another. Now, it's this way everyone can come together with a united hope of being able to get out of here! Both me and Chidouin-san are counting on all of you.
A
- Earnest, neat, stubborn, anxious
People with this blood type are described primarily as kichōmen, or well-organized. They like to keep things neat but can be stubborn and get stressed out easily. They also value harmony with others. Agricultural people are the root of blood type A, and it's been said working collaboratively on farms developed these blood type personality traits.
B
- Easygoing, leaders, insensitive, unpunctual
Blood type B is generally described as jikochū, or selfish. They are also known for their creativity. Blood type B has a strong sense of curiosity, but at the same time, loses interest easily. Though there are a lot of positives to B types, people tend to focus on the negatives for reasons we'll get into later. Some say their root is in nomadic peoples who roamed from place to place.
AB
- Passionate, creative, selfish, uncooperative
Blood type AB is a hybrid of A and B, two different personalities mixed together. They are often seen as dual-natured and complicated. For example, they are shy like A types, but also are outgoing like type B. Blood type AB is the rarest (and many other places in the world, too), so they are hard to find. This reinforces the stereotype that AB people are are kawarimono, or eccentric.
O
- Talented, composed, eccentric, two-faced
Blood type O is often described as rakkanshugi, or optimistic. They are outgoing, have leadership abilities, and are able to set the mood for groups of people. They don't care much about little things, so their behavior sometimes freaks out more sensitive A types. Though they're often late to events (and sometimes rude), O types are incredibly resilient and flexible, enabling them to roll with the punches.
Below, you'll find both a sign-up form and a little game if you're waiting for your turn on whether your blood is accepted by Chidouin-san and I. Donations will be given at the wisteria tree.

One of those abilities is the amazing power to switch cold clothes for unconscious boys. She had just come by to check if Joe needed that cloth switched out when she heard his voice.
Ah, so he's awake. And saying such things, too.]
You don't have to be fine.
[She kneels next to the sofa, sorting through her thoughts. Why would he insist he's fine? Satou can take a few stabs at why. After all, he came here to donate blood... to be helpful... And he passed out.
It doesn't take a genius to imagine what kinds of thoughts that might inspire.] You did good. The donation is okay. Thank you, Joe-san.

He sighs into the washcloth, coughing from the poor choice that is before pulling it off his face. He still doesn't look at her, though; instead he looks toward the ceiling. ]
I... was only able to give that much because I passed out.
[ A hand that rests on his chest grips his uniform right by his heart. He swears he can feel a pain there even now. ]
I-I don't think I can do it again...
no subject
She hums softly when shaking her head;]
Mm~mm. If anyone tries to ask you for more, I'll bite them.
[Is that... reassuring..? Or a threat..?
Hopefully nobody tests her on it and has to find out.]
It's scary, isn't it? The school is like this... and we're collecting blood for such reasons. So much must have been going through your head, but you still decided to offer a part of yourself to help everyone. Joe-san is incredibly kind, ne?
[Satou reaches out to take the old cloth and replace it,] Thank you so much.

I'm not...
[ Satou isn't wrong about how terrible this place is and that it's bad enough they have to give so much blood to get out of here. But he thinks her opinion of him is just wrong. ]
I'm not... that kind, Satou. The reason why losing my blood scares me so much... it's my own fault. Giving it up is one of the only ways I can make up for what I did.
no subject
Hmm. It must have felt like a big deal to be worth Joe-san's blood.
[No use fighting him on whether or not he did something. Joe would know that better than her, wouldn't he? Though, she does push back slightly on the idea of him not being kind;] I stand by what I said- er, well. I'm sitting by it. [on the floor.]
Only kind people care to make up for things.

But neither of them are home. Or alive at this point. And he's begun to wonder if this is his hell for what he tried to do. ]
You don't... know what I tried Satou. I don't deserve your pity. Or your kindness.
[ But if it's his hell, why are there so many good people here? To make him feel worse? That doesn't feel fair to them even if he feels he deserves it.
His eyes start to tear as he continues to stare at the ceiling. ]
Th-there's no way... I can ever make up for it...

[She's consciously trying not to look at Joe now. Consciously keeping her calm composure, forcing her smile to stay set in place; Satou has been the one who cries into confessions before and she always found comfort in how Shugo would listen without judgment. Even if he's gone, she can pass his strength on to someone else, right?
The most that Satou does to acknowledge those tears is to gently nudge the fresh cloth into place. In her experience, boys don't like to be seen crying. Actually, she can relate to that. If Joe would be so kind as to keep his eyes directed at the ceiling, then he won't see that Satou is struggling not to empathy-cry with him.]
I don't think that's true. I don't think that you could do anything maliciously, Joe-san. Am I wrong?
no subject
... I was in a death game. We voted to kill each other. Professor Mishima died because we didn't know the rules.
[ It comes out easier than he thought, but even then, he's clearly choking back more tears. He holds his wrist up, turning his wrist and staring at the two tallies on his wrist. ]
Th-Then... I found the Sacrifice card. I didn't know what it meant at first, but... when I did, I-I tried to use it to my own advantage. Nine people would've died so me and my best friend could go home. A-And I really did try... but... I couldn't even do that. I died for it.
[ He failed. And it's good he did right? Even if he died because of it. Didn't he deserve it at that point no matter how gruesome it was?
Joe lets his hand fall so that the back of it covers his eyes. It doesn't doesn't his tears from falling or hide the way his chest rises and falls while he tries to calm down. However it very clearly isn't doing much for him. ]
S-So I don't... deserve your kindness. Anyone's. I'm just... terrible...
no subject
When he says that nine people would have died because of him, she bites her lip. She wonders what he will say one day when he finds out that Satou has actually committed murder. Is she not going to deserve kindness then? Is he going to retract every smile or kind word he's shown her so far? They're still more strangers than friends, but that doesn't mean she doesn't value those things. After being invisible for so long, even hearing her name is really nice.
Does she not deserve it?
No, she scolds herself harshly, This isn't a pity party for you, Satou.
Though, she can relate to being forced into someone else's idea of a game. She can piece together what Joe is talking about: A scenario where death doesn't occur because games are fun, but because there are rules that end in death for the loser. How awful... He was forced into something like that, but he's here feeling like the criminal. If anyone deserves a pity party right now, it's Joe.
Satou slowly sits herself up and leans over him. Letting him cry if he needs to, but speaking over him to mask what he is trying to hide;]
Joe-san. Do you know why it hurts so much to see someone die?
[If he doesn't want to look at her while she feigns calm, he doesn't have to. If he can't hear her, that might be fine too. But she'll continue, answer or not. It's more about being there than being right or wrong.]
It's because lives are very precious, right? We get one, but our lives touch so many others every day. We don't have to do anything but exist in order to change someone's day. It's amazing... There are billions of people in this world, but even one life can do so much. The math doesn't make sense, huh? How 'one' can do so much.
[Satou feels sick.
She says these things to comfort him right now. Usually, she thinks them as she guilts herself for being forced to kill.]
Your life was precious too. Wanting to protect it isn't wrong... Math doesn't matter in lives. Nine can equal one, one can equal a thousand. Yours was worth protecting, Joe-san.

S-Satou...
[ It's all he can manage for the moment. Her words don't necessarily free Joe of any guilt of course, but for a moment, he wonders if his life was actually worth something. He wasn't a good student, and he had no big asperations once he graduated. He mostly lived day to day, just enjoying the moment.
But he never asked to be part of the death game. He never asked for the Sacrifice card. And he never asked to show up in this school either...
Joe's hand flinches slightly for a moment before he tentatively reaches for her. He pulls her closer to him, and he doesn't hold her so tight that she can pull away if she's uncomfortable. But he manages to whisper something first. ]
I-I'm sorry... I'm sorry...
[ Ryoko is on his mind of course. She probably will be forever. They only went on one date, and it was the last normal, fun thing he got to do in life. But he's no longer a man worthy of her in his own eyes. Nor is he ever going to see her again.
Satou is not her replacement either; he probably isn't even worth her friendship no matter how comforting she's trying to be. But... he could really really use a hug right now. No matter how awkward it may be. ]
no subject
So she doesn't think it's strange to return the gesture as best she can. Even patting his back lightly to communicate that this isn't too much to ask. Especially not when he's feeling so much despair.]
Thank you for trying, Joe-san. The ones who love you appreciate it.
[There's a thought lingering in the back of her mind:
Is this okay?
He's going to find out eventually. He's going to see seven tally marks on her wrist one day and ask about them. Will Joe want to hug bleach when he finds out what kind of person he touched?
Eh.
That's a problem for the future. She can't solve it until tomorrow comes anyway.
He might not be Shugo, but she's needed a hug too. Satou has wished since the day she arrived that she could cling to Shugo again and cry the tears out of her system. It may not be safe to cry in front of Joe, but she does feel them evaporating ever so slowly.]
I'm sorry you had to go through something so awful. It must have been scary.
no subject
Eventually he does calm, and his breathing returns to normal. He blinks slowly as if coming out of a trance, and after another moment, he pulls away from her. ]
U-Um...
[ His face starts to redden when the reality of it settles in, and he tries to hide his face with the new cloth she gave him. ]
Sorry S-Satou...
no subject
... Looking him in the face again, she realizes that this might have been embarrassing in another context. Her own cheeks are beginning to pick up colour, though her attitude tries to deny it;]
Nn-nn. Are you feeling any better? [She redirects from the apology,] You've had a hard day. Do you need help getting back to the dorms?
no subject
[ Joe shifts himself carefully and uses his good arm to sit back up. He still feels lightheaded and closes his eyes before he can get too disoriented. He moves the cloth from his forehead and gives it a grip, letting out a slow breath. ]
Ugh... maybe in a minute actually. I'm still not quite there I think.
[ He opens his eyes slowly again to look at her. ]
I'm sorry... can I bother you to maybe get me some water?
no subject
Mm, just wait here.
And ne. Joe-san? [Reaching out to pat his head like she might for Shugo,] You don't have to rush feeling better, 'kay?
[With that, she turns to leave. She puts on an act of being her usual stupid self, if only so no one thinks they were doing anything weird like crying. Joe might not want to be asked about that.] Waaater ti~ime! I'll be right baack!
no subject
Y-Yeah...
[ He knows what she means, but that's a little easier said than done. Still he does his best to take her advice and also does her best to relax. He's done as much as he can right now, so it'd be better if he didn't cause more problems for everyone else.
He can't help but feel like a loser for acting like that in front of Satou. She's been helping him so much since arriving... but he's been here longer. Shouldn't he be doing better. ]
no subject
She just let Joe get away with a lot, huh? That hug... Was that normal? Should she have pushed him back? It's embarrassing to look back on since she knows why she didn't resist: She needed a hug. She needed a hug from someone who could pretend was Mikale or Shugo. She's been pretending that she's fine, but she isn't. Seeing Joe break down was scary, because she knows she's close to snapping as well.
But when she returns, Satou has masked these feelings again. She practically bounces into sight, acting extra stupid and cheerful to help smother her true emotions.]
Check it out~ Water for Joe-san! Here ya go~!
Sorry for making you wait.
no subject
Thanks very much!
[ He helps himself, probably drinking too much too fast. But it's relieving honestly, and Joe can feel some tension leave his exhausted body. All the while, he's trying to decide what to say next. The air feels heavy, and he doesn't like it. So he defaults back to his typical average Joe. ]
Hey Satou... back home, were you like a team manager or something? [ He grins to himself. ] Cause you remind me of one! Let me guess... baseball's your favorite sport!
no subject
When he speaks up again, she briefly goes silent... then giggles. Not maliciously, but in amusement. What a way to break the tension.]
I wish, I wish~ I'm really bad at baseball~!
[There was no time to watch sports either. She didn't have a TV... But baseball is very popular. If he's trying to make an educated guess, then 'baseball' would be the smartest one.
Meanwhile, Satou is trying to calculate her own reply. If she says too much, she might have to elaborate... She doesn't want to have to tell Joe that she's invisible back home. He might figure out that she's cursed. And yet, she can't lie after he was so honest with her.]
I actually didn't get to go to school... But Shugo did! He was even worse at baseball than I am. Do you like baseball, Joe-san?
no subject
[ Despite his goofy grin, he's being serious. He's played a lot of sports, so he knows how important that role is. It does surprise him to hear she didn't go to school, and he's not sure who Shugo is. But he does try to keep up the energy with his answer. ]
I like all sports! But basketball's my favorite for sure! If you've never played, when it's warmer out, we should definitely play some! Then you can show your friend how good you got when you get back home!
no subject
I've seen basketball on television. Were you on the team?
[Sidestepping the issue of Shugo.]
You must have been popular!
no subject
[ He doesn't want to get into that he was too poor to join any kind of team. He's already dumped too much on Satou today and thinking about regrets is not helpful right now.
At that, though, Joe shakes his head with a grin. ]
Popular? I-I wouldn't say that ahaha! I got along with most of my classmate I guess!
