Students
✽ Yumemi Minazuki: A student in class 1-D. An earnest and straightforward girl who falls in love easily. She seems to attract odd occurrences. Computer Science is one of her electies, and it seems that she was one of the students who was saved by transfer students' efforts after failing her final.

Faculty
✽ "Kazuki": The gardener is a spirit which appears in the courtyard during the night. He can not normally be seen, unless a character has the ability to see spirits, owns an adderstone through which they can see spirits, or visits the courtyard during nights of the full moon. Those who have spirit sight or see him during the full moon will see him in his human form; through an adderstone or within the "void" version of the school, the gardener appears in his true form as a man-eating monster. The gardener is blind, and only darkness can be seen in the eye holes of his mask. Rumor has it that the gardener has used to be employed as a teacher before becoming the gardener, and has been around almost as long as the counselor. He is patient and understanding, and is fond of the students.
✽ "Mizuki" Arata: The counselor is available during school hours, answering to a knock on the door with permission to enter. While the counselor typically sits on top of his desk, there are a variety of chairs in the office to choose from, and he will always offer to share his snack bowl. All supernatural powers are nullified within his office. Rumor has it that the counselor founded the school and is aware of everything that goes on in the school at any given moment. He can be difficult to talk with, but always seems to be having fun.

✽ "God": "God" can be visited at the shrine accessed from within the forest, and will introduce themselves as Jizo, the deity who guides souls through the afterlife, particularly those of children and travelers. They take on the appearance of a middle school child, and although their power is limited, they may grant a wish for a price, and otherwise seems to enjoy company.

Faculty
✽ Principal: There is currently no principal. The principal's office is unlocked, but until the sub-zero temperature condition in the room is dealt with, normal students will quickly freeze to death upon entering. Rumor has it that historically, the principal monitors the school but does not have active involvement.
✽ Vice principal: There is currently no vice principal. The vice principal has a desk in the faculty office with the rest of the staff, and takes on the responsibilities of the principal if the principal is unavailable. Rumor has it that the vice principal's job involves a LOT of paperwork.
✽ Teachers: Teachers hold office hours in the faculty office from 4 PM to 6 PM and supplemental lessons are handwaved. Students of any age can apply for a teaching position, provided competency.
✽ Librarian: The librarian is available during school hours, and can help locate or otherwise order new books on specific topics upon request. Requests for books on specific topics are handwaved, as long as the book is not canon specific. Library materials are not to be removed from the library.
✽ Janitor: The janitor cleans the school at the end of each school day, of everything from trash in the bins to bodies and blood following a murder. They are never seen, but most students assume they exist. The janitor's closet, located between the faculty office and the bathroom, can be freely accessed.

Students
✽ Keigo Arata: The previous shopkeep of the student store. Unlike most students, they committed suicide to purposely arrive at the school, under contract with a "god." Through the efforts and sacrifice of their friends, this contract has since been nullified and they were killed in hopes of becoming an official student in the future.
Other
✽ A fluffy white cat: Very friendly and will come running seemingly out of nowhere when food is being offered. She can otherwise be found seeking out warm sunny spots within the school, and enjoys being kissed and petted but not held. She is called by many many names, including Lily Mayhemnaise, Lucy, Lucifer, Whitey, Yuki, Cygnus, Sweetheart, and Emerald Moon, but does not actually respond to any of them.
✽ A skinny black cat: Wary and skittish, and will occasionally come eat the leftovers after the fluffy white cat has eaten her share. He can otherwise be found perched up on high places out of reach, but will run away if approached. He appears to be small and skinny enough to squeeze through gaps underneath doors and other places, and is occasionally seen in the counselor's office or rooftop. He is called by many many names, including Beverage, Belphegor, Blacky, Yoru, Robbie, Crux, Sweetheart, and Citrine Blizzard, but does not actually respond to any of them.

[ And that he enters and takes his seat, quiet for a moment. There's a lot that's really on his mind, regarding his future, the future of the school itself, and how the plan to shape things seemed to be proceeding thanks to the efforts of others.
There's just, still a few things weighing on his mind. ]
I wanted to start by thanking you for your hard work. I don't suppose we've spoken much, but perhaps we had during a different time, in a moment I've completely forgotten. With students like us transferring in and slowly taking up positions in the school, I'd typically wonder if we'd be met with resistance.
--I've had a lot of time to think on trust, and what it truly means to prove yourself to be trustworthy to others. The students here had no reason to trust me, and until recently, only the first year students did.
[ The first time he was called Shirogane-senpai by a first year student, it took him by surprise. It was welcome, especially with how harsh the others seemed to be at the start. ]
Still, I'm not easily deterred by someone thinking I might have ulterior motives. In fact, I can't say that I typically don't. Even with that said, I wanted to ask you.
How long will you trust us to take care of this school?
[ There's nothing accusatory in his tone; he's genuinely trying to figure that out. Obviously there might be some apprehension towards letting them work on staff, in letting transfer students take on positions like they have in the student body... if there wasn't, would he not have left by now?
So naturally... ]
I'd just like to feel assured that our efforts won't be for nothing in the end. I can't say I'm comfortable graduating until then.
no subject
... No, you never would be.
[ They're too aware for him to condensed by hiding it. He knows his students far too well to think that they would be satisfied with leaving. There are some who don't change for their difficulty in growing, but there are also those who are so steadfast in seeing others off before themselves. Those are the ones that sting the most, those earnest souls who move the needle little by little. ]
I'll trust you as long as you're here. You all have the potential to change the future as much as you can rewrite the past into something better...
[ Their regrets, their hardship, but also their happiness. He offers that opportunity to redo their lives without compensation; he breaks contracts with god and crushes agreement under his heel by exploiting loopholes so they might be free of such interference and allowed to instead grow of their own accord.
How frightening the idea of leaving them to their own devices is. He's no different than a mother bird containing its chickens within the nest, or so he's been told. And yet - ]
If you wish to see each and every student graduate safely, you'll be trapped here for eternity. There will always be souls that need a place to go.
[ He wouldn't wish that on any other. ]
So, how will you care for it?
no subject
Still, he hesitates after Mizuki brings up the past. The past, really did still haunt him a bit. ]
I'm not sure how comfortable I am rewriting any part of my past, to be honest with you.
[ There's plenty there. Going far back, thinking of his mother. Of the way his father's company crumbled. How Kei left and came back. His initial impression of Shuchiin Academy, and how that led him directly to the student council... and to Kaguya Shinomiya.
...Shinomiya. ]
As easy as it would be to want my memories of the past to go away and only focus on the positives, it would be like changing myself into someone I'm not. I've been bluffing so long as the hard working, completely relentless Miyuki Shirogane that it feels like it would be disrespectful to completely throw all of that away.
[ He'll never know how Kaguya felt about him, but at this point, he couldn't spend too much time thinking about that. With how things progressed... it wouldn't be fair to who had been waiting for him within the school. ]
I don't really have any place else to go. If it takes an eternity, then I'll have to spend that eternity looking for someone I can feel comfortable handing off that responsibility to in the end. Maybe someone who doesn't have to work quite as hard as you had to for so long.
[ But how will he care... ]
By ensuring that the students have a voice, and can feel comfortable while they're awake. Ensuring that there isn't another mass back-up of souls that need to graduate, and assuring the ones that come through that there isn't any need to be afraid. I'm used to addressing the issues of the student body at this point, and seeking out a solution with help from the others shouldn't be difficult.
--I also plan to dismantle any wayward groups that may threaten the school's peace. To ensure that nobody else gets stabbed in the back.
[ He's hesitant in saying that, because naturally... it's in reference to what happened to him.
...of course, that's a lie. As always, Miyuki Shirogane was thinking of someone else. ]

... Yes, I agree. This place is meant to be a second chance. I would give that to you as many times as you need for your soul to heal, because even the strongest person will eventually crumble once the weight grows too heavy.
[ Cagey, cold, and so often even cruel and callous - perhaps it could be said that a piece of his heart crumbled, then? That seems to be what those around him suggest, but the care he's held for these six-hundred years burns bright as ever. He nods to Miyuki's wrist. In short, ]
Not all of your peers can handle the sins of the "you" of yesterday and the "you" who wandered through in a haze.
[ It's vague, but Miyuki is sharp enough to catch the implication - there are those who have woken up with their wrist sore, a fresh tally upon their wrist. He gives it a few seconds to sink in before continuing, ]
Who will give you respite when you tire? How long will your heart hold? Even if it's for all eternity, it would be the same cycle you wish to end, trapping one soul in place of another... But you could raise them to care for themselves.
[ He takes a few pieces of the mix and chews on them. There's nothing discouraging in his tone, but rather an effort to cover even inevitability. ]
You all take so much onto your shoulders. You hide away for fear of hurting and being hurt, you act out to create a world of hope, you form contacts and rush into things. You'll hurt each other again and again even as you coordinate. You'll run into those who only understand how to hurt others or are so stubborn that they seem impossible to deal with... Is there a place for all of those lost souls in the world you envision? Would you house them and invite them to your table despite the trouble they'll cause?
[ You all know who you are!!!! But - ]
This place was meant for them to grow too.

[ Said without a moment of hesitation. There were those he hadn't been fond of, some he grew to appreciate, and one he was growing to care about as time went on. One he'd fallen in love with before he even realized it. Stubborn, withdrawn, lonely. It'd be callous of him to leave anyone to suffer through any of this alone, even those who pissed him off.
His hand reflexively goes to his tallied wrist, and at his words. Hearing that they were all the same, judgmental even towards those who were possessed by another. ]
I still have growing up to do myself. Learning that not everything is black and white for one, and that there's more to somebody than they initially let on. Even if I personally don't like somebody, that doesn't mean they deserve to be left by themselves.
[ never let komaeda ever hear him say that. ]
That's just an eternity to show off to everyone that passes through these doors, as well as you, exactly what I'm capable of.
[ Shuchiin's Student Council President. Ranked number one in his class. The only man who can match wits with the top students through sheer hard work and determination alone. ]

[ That, too, comes easily. He takes something out of his pocket, a small moonstone and rolls it in his fingers. There's no particular significance to it, or at least not one to the other, but it leaves him thoughtful. He nods approvingly. ]
Then you have my support. You all have the ability to coordinate and make changes now, but I imagine that's not enough. What will you need to put your plan into place?
[ A genuine question. ]
