like a bitter stranger
Who: Everyone
What: Our monthly family meeting.
When: March 5th, 2000.
Where: Yogen dorms common room.
Warnings: Discussions of murder, suicide, child death...more?
[ A message goes up on the forums late Friday evening.
S.chidouin: Group meeting in the dorms Saturday. 12:00. No punching. No stabbing. I'll bring stickers.
If your character would not find a post from Sara worth listening too, Bonnie is wandering around, vaguely noting how important this meeting is, and how very much you should attend. No further details are forthcoming.
The meeting itself is a quiet affair. The fireplace is not lit, there are no snacks. Sara waits in the corner for everyone to arrive and get settled and then she clears her throat to speak. ]
As most of you know... [ It's hard to start, but her voice gets firmer as she goes on. ] We spent the last two months investigating Maya Arisu's murder. That case is solved. A few weeks ago, Bonnie-chan and I found the culprit.
Rantaro Amami killed Maya Arisu, Hiro Arisu, the vice principal and is presumably responsible for the scene with Keigo Arata. He is also dead. I just figured...everyone should know. To many people got hurt the last few months. I'm sorry.
[ She fiddles with her hair. That's all...she really has to say. There's not much more then that as the gist of it. ]

[ That's why Ranger isn't a good person, but Amami is. ]
But they can be backed into a corner too... Do you really think Rantarou wanted to run around killing people? C'mon. If he saw any other choice, there's no way he would've done something like that.
[ He can't even call it a mistake when he thinks Amami would stand by those decisions even now. But it's hard to see him as the type to wish for it. ]

[And that's why Noah's a bad person too, because even wanting to kill one person and never wanting to kill anyone else makes it so. Does he have any right to get mad about this given his own hypocrisy? The answer is no, but Noah's too willful to think he could ever be in the wrong.
His vengeance is justified. Random killings are not. Simple.]
...I wish he could have talked to someone else about it. That there was another solution, you know? Something less... horrible, for everyone involved. I...
[...am unfortunately the same as Amami, is what Noah's brain fills the rest of that sentence in with, though he doesn't speak it aloud. How often had Clamor told him there were other ways to live his life other than to seek vengeance?
Ugh.]

[ Ranger doesn't know every detail of what had been transpired, but he doesn't believe Amami to be the sort of reckless person to conclude that murder is the best and only solution without first looking at other options. He's dense and reckless and all too human, but he's not so devoid of feeling as to disregard human life.
Ranger doesn't know the full story, but he understands that this was an ongoing issue. ]
But what if therewas no solution in sight? What if the alternative was seeing what you cared about most disappear from existence?
[ The reason that death is so scary is because a person has just one life to live. There's no promise off an afterlife, no promise of anything at all, and yet this place promises it. They can be killed and revive any number of time, and it's only when they're ready that they'll have no choice but to leave. But from what he does understand, Keigo's very existence had disappeared - there would be no second chance, no coming back, no reincarnation, nothing at all.
He exhales softly. Ranger is the same too, and that will never change, and so he understands the sentiment a little. ]
Then.. You'd do what you had to, right? no matter how cruel it was. [ A beat, and finally - ] ... But death isn't permanent here, right? So he can still come back... He can still choose to live a different life.
