☆ somedays you wanna die like a star and somedays-- ☆
Who: Everyone
What: Murder discuss
When: April 12th, lunch time
Where: School Library
Warnings: usual murder stuff
[Anyway. so. subaru knows dito did it, he said so on the network, but they have some important things on their hands-- mainly like... the fact that komaeda is Not waking up? and the last time someone was coma'd that music girl did a meeting and steph woke up so like? yeah maybe this'll work.
anyway it's on lunch because that's the easiest time that subaru can set something up, but it's in the morning after he's a li'l more recovered from investigation and highness there's a network mention--]
yo my detective peeps come to the library ur needed to solve a crime!!! (jk lmao but for real come okay)
[and then subaru conks out really for a lot of class until the time itself, wishing he had a little of that wake up pink void shit that was in komaeda's mouth..........
nonetheless. library is... suspiciously cleared out save the librarian, but subaru's got signs pointing to the back and he's sitting on a table himself, one leg pulled up to rest his cheek on it as he waves to seats. there's a lot of chairs here. he took them from tables.]
Everyone here that's gonna be here? Cool. Anyway, Addy's dead but for like real instead of bein' timeline dead I guess and Maddy's, uh... Sleeping Beauty right now, if you catch my drift. Nothin' seems to wake him, and don't try the whole kissing thing 'cause you'll die too. Don't ask me how I know.
[it's between them, two other people, the blind girl, and god now.]
I know that asshole Didi spilled the beans about his being armed and dangerous on the forums and all, but how about we nut up for once and do something? We know who did it, so let's just work ourselves out and then kick his ass.
[...
because no matter who he is right now, komaeda's been a valuable friend to him, and he's beyond seething.]

cw: alice is going THRU is
[ he should, and he does because of how many sips it took to see the downside of someone awake and vulnerable enough to indulge in too much. luckily he's holding up, but those nightmares tread close behind, and of course they would... all the participants are weak after all. their past constantly holding them down, and that's why alice acts the way that he do. confused, afraid, even... guilty because if he wasn't, then the hallucinations wouldn't creep up against his back, place a and on his shoulder, and squeeze tight, or even break the youth into a chokehold. that's what all hallucinations are like, and isn't it a pity he couldn't have a kinder one. ]
Whatever you're seeing, we can make it all go away. That's what you want, right?
[ it's a tone of mixed patience and kindness, like one would give someone during a panic attack in hopes they're the only voice that person hears. soothing, gentle, and one that he's used many a time in his acts of a doctor talking to children about their mothers, and consoling someone who has lost the chance to to play the sport they lost the taste for. ]
I'm here to help you.
cw: ALICE?!
Didn't you drink it...?
[ With a shake of his head, Alice closes his eyes again, if only for another moment before he does what he can to collect himself enough to squint at the figure filling his field of vision. Making everything go away — isn't that what he chose before? It would be easier, of course, just like last time. ]
It's foolish, but I truly hoped that this would help...
cw: ALICE!!!!!
[ now he isn't here to make things better for him, but he has no choice as the amnesia guy trying to trick the other fuckers here. with wide, curious eyes, and setting the cup right in front of alice.
he clears his throat to get the male's attention. ]
You helped. If it wasn't for you, they'd never have figured it out. Isn't better you than that friend of yours...?
[ alice can state aloud he'd rather sacrifice his friend who is in a coma to these nightmares, but some people like to feel like they're the hero in these stories. the idea is there for alice to latch onto if he feels like it, but he finally thinks that he can give him answers.
scooting the water closer. ]
It's water.
no subject
Clumsily, Alice's free hand finds the glass placed before him. It would be a comfort to believe that all of this did help, that he made the right decision. Have they identified the substance mixed into the tea — is there an antidote, hours later? ]
But it's too late... isn't it? You're much thinner, so it's different... And you won't wake up. How can you drink water?
[ What good is this, bringing him water to drink? He's still awake. ]
no subject
Because you're not thin at all, and you're awake so you can take advantage of this unlike... someome who can't.
[ they won't die, but perhaps that person would pass out from the dose, and anything else would be treated once their culprit got what they desired.
it is a treat to watch alice suffer, and no matter how much he wants to smile, he can't. he continues to treat this like a normal doctor would, concerned and thoughtful— he's just making alice go the long road rather than take a shortcut. ]
You use your mouth.
[ these drugs do make people stupid, and while he knows that's the hallucination bits talking, he just can't help himself to give a smartass answer that comes off isn't that obvious? ]
Does that make sense...?
no subject
If a demonstration achieves that, and if he'll actually feel better, then... ]
I know how to drink...! But someone unconscious...
[ Frowning at the glass of water, eyes narrowed in concentration as he endeavors to hold it steady and bring it to his lips without spilling anything gives him the air of a belligerent drunk, but he drains the glass in a few gulps, placing it back down on the floor once it's empty. To his disappointment, he feels no different. ]
How much more...?
no subject
[ is what midori says.
next to midori is a familiar person who is sitting on his rear end, legs bent in front of him, and the back of his heels against the floor as it keeps his legs up. arms crossed against his knees, and he leans forward to rest his chin on his arms to watch pale, empty green eyes hidden under white strands of hair as the individual rocks back and forth, and then stops to look at the water that's placed between all three of them. he doesn't exist, he's just a hallucination, but he seems well with a smile on his face, and if alice can ignore the blood around his throat, and covering his white shirt then he appears well. ]
Someone unconscious wasn't meant to drink.
[ "do we drink it...?" are the words mouthed to alice from the male next to midori, the person who's meant to be unconscious... ]
no subject
We...
[ How much water is that, the entirety? One glass finished leaves one more, as far as Alice can tell as his gaze drifts from the apparition's wound to the second glass of water, fingers seizing air at first before they reposition themselves to take it without missing it. Two glasses of water? That's hardly some kind of daunting sacrifice. ]
It's not that much, so if it helps...
[ True, someone unconscious can't drink it — if only they could administer a miraculous antidote with instant results — but the others watching will eventually see someone recover after drinking that tea, at least. It's better than hopelessness.
The second glass joins the first in moments, not a drop left in them, no matter how difficult swallowing and breathing has become. ]
That's done, right...?
[ He won't close his eyes while he waits, as much as he wants to. Instead, he resumes staring at that horrible wound. Dito's gloating fills his thoughts. ]

that's his voice, komaeda's voice that plays right next to midori as he watches the other down the water one by one. it's better for him that way. even if it makes midori raise a brow at alice's "we" because who else is there, but due to what the poison is capable of doing... he's drunk enough to see anything, and who knows what could be on his mind. from his words before then he understands who he must be perceiving in his drug haze.
how unfortunate.
"when you close your eyes... you close them forever... didn't save a drop for me? you must really want me to die..."
words from a mere ghost, but a hallucination that if alice can focus, he should know that komaeda isn't truly dead. that the drugs are talking.
midori only watches further to see where alice reaches out at, and where he stares because if their eyes aren't staring at one another, he reaches out to clap his hands in front of him. ]
Count to ten for me.
[ if there's a "we", which "we" is alice willing to listen to? ]
no subject
[ Komaeda's eerie accusations ring through Alice's head, louder than anything else, but he jolts as some part of his awareness catches the whipcrack noise of hands clapped together, merging it with an imagined gunshot. Alarm grips him anew, throttling him; buffeted by everything surrounding him on all sides, he's rattled around until the fragile hope he'd dared to grasp crumbles in his hold. If he doesn't feel better yet, and Komaeda won't open his eyes, what is he doing...?
A gun on that shelf. A gun in Dito's possession.
Alice throws himself forward, between Komaeda and the pair of hands in the way, fingers reaching out to wipe away all that blood. It does nothing; there's so much, mingling with Reko's already streaked across his palms. Agitated, his breaths come in harsh gasps, and his voice catches on them. ]
You told me to drink all of it... I-I'll get more for you, so don't die! Don't...
[ Don't close your eyes forever sticks in his throat, rousing the ghost of a promise faintly remembered.
"What, like we're just asleep?" Standing over them, Reko aims a kick at his ribs, her expression one of disgust as he stumbles in his attempts to climb to his feet — to refill a glass ten times for Komaeda (but too much water is dangerous, isn't it)? — and crashes into his vacant chair in front of the only person physically nearby. ]

midori scoots away just a bit as he watches the other on the floor reach out and wipe, but there's nothing there, and once he gets to his feet— tripping over them he guesses, and into the chair nearby...
...
oh he's a danger to himself and everyone else. midori wants alice unleashed NOW. sadly, he had to look like the caring doctor as he quickly rushes to the other's side. ]
Alice!! [ oh goodie! what interesting developments. ] Hey, Alice!! I need you to stop moving, I have to check your eyes...!
[ to see how blown out they are, and he'll watch which direction his eyes go to see where his day terrors are coming from.
"we'll be dead... mary anne wants us dead! ... figures. i thought he'd be different." pale green eyes look up to where reko is as he stares at her leg held up after the kick, and moving his hand quickly so that she doesn't step on him. komaeda's arms cross in his lap as he lays his legs out on the floor, and there's a small frown on his face as he looks away.
"family means nothing to him, he's only selfish... that's why he's the last one alive out of all of us." ]

Still, looking around wildly, in Midori's direction upon hearing his name, and then back at the reminders of how badly he failed as a brother, Alice reacts with another vehement shake of his head. He feels dizzier for it, and his arms are wrapped around the chair — now half-broken — as though it's a piece of driftwood, the room an ocean in a storm. The water settling inside his stomach once he stills wasn't salty, but it adds to the effect, keeping him near drowning. ]
N-No...! I don't want that at all... If I could—
[ A trade isn't possible — it's worthless to say it. ]
I'll fetch more water, so please—...!
