Lonely and looking for love? Friends, maybe? Well look no further—the ASUNARO-sponsored Spring Speed-dating Festival has begun. Join us in room 3-A, where participants will then be given an assignment of "even" or "odd" and seated at a numbered table. You only have so long to talk to your partner before the bell rings and it's time to move on, but not to worry, if you find someone you like, the two of you can step out together! At the end of each round, "even" players will stay at their tables, and "odd" will move to the next. This is mostly flavour, but there is one important piece to keep in mind: in the interest of nobody being left out, leaving before the end of the event is only allowed in pairs.

getting to know each other

So you've found someone you vibe with—congratulations! The next step is getting to know each other a little more. Cementing the bond, y'know? But high school is maybe a little young for marriage, so let's stick to the dates.

For the duration of the festival, classroom 3-E has been transformed into a makeshift movie theatre. Stop in with your date to watch one of these heart-racing movies, guaranteed to bring you and your date closer together! For the more romantic of the bunch, classroom 3-B will be home to dance lessons. Find a partner and get to know a Waltz, Argentine Tango, or request another, and try not to step on each other's feet as you get up-close and personal.

I see! If you have never have been, then that is certainly a stirring reason to choose that option. After all, swimming is a useful skill, and it can be a productive use of your time on the beach to practice it. There is a lot to learn at the beach, so you do not necessarily need to 'laze' there. I am sure that you would end up having a splendid time!

Heehee, I think so too. It would be such a shame not to take advantage of it, when there are people who have helped me so that I would be able to.

[The best of both worlds sounds good to Ishimaru. After all, one must apply one's self to make it all happen, and that sounds a lot better than just resting on one's laurels!

He proceeds to frown thoughtfully as he thinks over her question.]

Hmmmm...! While I do not feel confident in guessing what my peers would choose, I feel that the most fitting answer would be some type of dog. After all, I strive to be diligent, loyal and hard-working!

Oh, how lovely!

( don't know that she's ever met a dog. don't think so. she supposes that gin quite liked them though, didn't he? right, right, because he would end his sentences like that, woof! a smile spreads across her face at the thought. )

Then, if you're not sure what your friends would think, what about you? Do you have a favourite breed? Maybe you would be a shiba inu, or a samoyed.

Hmmmm... Those are nice choices, and they are very cute breeds, but they do not feel like perfect fits for me. I would choose a dobermann! They are known to be quite intelligent and seem like hard workers. A fine pick for my animal form!

For me, Hiyori has said that I'm like a jumping spider.

( fuzzy and friendly and very attached to their humans, wanting to be held all the time, and not so intimidating the way that some spiders may be. the blades in her back also resemble spider legs a little bit when she's having a violent episode, so there's probably that too. )

[Oh, that's... not something he'd expect her to be shy about. Ishimaru smiles sheepishly as he answers her.]

Ah... I- I see! Well, that is a valid creature. Spiders form an important part of ecosystems by taking care of many insects, after all! And being able to jump like that is an impressive evolutionary achievement. It means that you are quite impressive and play a vital role! Though of course, I doubt that you feed on anything like insects!

[He punctuates that with a forced laugh.]

Oh, no, all I need is to be charged.

( so he's right! she does not, in fact, feed on insects, and though she kind of watches the forced laugh with a look of mild concern, she decides that she appreciates the attempt. it's a positive enough reaction, at least, that she's happy to elaborate on the facts that ishimaru may not know.. )

Jumping spiders are also very friendly. They bond with humans, and enjoy being held, so they can be popular as pets as well.

[A blink, and a small laugh.]

Of course. We all need to recharge ourselves every now and then! [Because clearly she must mean that figuratively! He nods along sagely. And he is fascinated by what she has to say about jumping spiders!]

I did not know that about jumping spiders myself. My studies are clearly lacking in this area. I must thank you for teaching me a new fact! It is sounding more and more like a jumping spider is indeed a flattering creature to be compared to!

( at the agreement, maple's expression brightens visibly, and she presses the tips of her fingers together as she nods along. )

Ehehe, I'm glad you think so. I wasn't sure at first either, but Hiyori really is kind.
