Lonely and looking for love? Friends, maybe? Well look no further—the ASUNARO-sponsored Spring Speed-dating Festival has begun. Join us in room 3-A, where participants will then be given an assignment of "even" or "odd" and seated at a numbered table. You only have so long to talk to your partner before the bell rings and it's time to move on, but not to worry, if you find someone you like, the two of you can step out together! At the end of each round, "even" players will stay at their tables, and "odd" will move to the next. This is mostly flavour, but there is one important piece to keep in mind: in the interest of nobody being left out, leaving before the end of the event is only allowed in pairs.

Better hope you find someone you click with!

getting to know each other

So you've found someone you vibe with—congratulations! The next step is getting to know each other a little more. Cementing the bond, y'know? But high school is maybe a little young for marriage, so let's stick to the dates.

For the duration of the festival, classroom 3-E has been transformed into a makeshift movie theatre. Stop in with your date to watch one of these heart-racing movies, guaranteed to bring you and your date closer together! For the more romantic of the bunch, classroom 3-B will be home to dance lessons. Find a partner and get to know a Waltz, Argentine Tango, or request another, and try not to step on each other's feet as you get up-close and personal.

Anyone else who finds someone willing to pair up with them can write both of their names for entry into a raffle for a runner-up prize. Winners of the raffle will be given the choice between riches, quality of life, or valuable information as a thanks for participating and a congratulations on their new life together.

[Ishimaru has typically felt less squeamish about close physical contact when it comes to fellow boys, though he does feel a bit flustered at how gently Midori brings him into the position.

And as he steps forward, Ishimaru shifts his own foot back, with just a slight delay - still enough to keep their feet from colliding.]

A-ah... Yes. I will do well to commit this to memory! Forging compatible bonds is essentially the purpose of this event, after all, though I am not sure that I would call it something so strong as 'love'!

Don't worry, I'll be gentle with you.

[ just to help lessen any concerns that the other may have, but his bits of flustering are adorable to see. his fingers slowly weave between ishimaru's own to make sure their palms touch. ]

Then what would you call it, Kiyotaka? To understand one another, to be close, and to exist... love is needed, so I'll hear you out if there's something else.

[ love can come in different forms, but it's a powerful concept that the world needs more of. if there's none placed into everything a person does then there's no true connection. even here, his love for humans is what brings him to take part in dance with the student council president. ]

Of course. I trust you to act as a respectable dancing partner.

[He says, with a smile that manages to grow less uneasy.]

I- I do understand the importance of love, to be sure! But love also implies a certain intimacy. There are surely other terms that can be fitting without that implication! Admiration, perhaps...? Or it could simply be called the joy of human connection! [he goes on awkwardly as he prepares to dance.]

Love embraces all, now Kiyotaka... you can pass this!

[ love is just one thing, it's many. besides, if there's only one type of love, then the world will only burn if not knowing any others. this is why bonds are made, romances bloom, and friendships thrive. ]

Admiration is the same as love, and so is joy because you love what's happening! It's alright, to love will heal the world and one's connections... What I'm trying to say is...?

[ he wants ishimaru to finish the sentence as he takes the lead, bringing the male to the side so he can spin them around briefly before stopping to lean ishimaru back.

he won't let him fall. ]

That love... is many things? [He attempts to finish that thought, in a sonewhat befuddled and uncertain matter.]

I suppose that I can accept that much. Ah-!

[He's taken by surprise as he's led through these movements, being spun around and then leaned backwards! He relaxes slightly as he realizes that he's not about to fall.]

Y-you executed that quite artfully, Hiyori-kun...!

Love is meeting people as well as holding onto them, just like now. There's love as to why people cry, and why they smile... love is a sort of hope that keeps people going, and help them aspire to work with others.

[ midori won't let him fall, but even as he leans forward until ishimaru is inches from the floor in a perfect dip. the end of his scarf brushes against the councilman's chest, just before the nurse lifts up quickly, bringing them back up to a perfect stand. ]

You've worked well with me, Kiyotaka.

[ though, he shouldn't be so stiff. ] This means you can relax, and the dance will go much smoother.

...Y-yes, of course. I cannot deny all of that about love. It is a powerful emotion... one that connects us and drives many of our deeds.

[And brings pain. Much pain in the form of those who have been lost or separated.

Ishimaru nervously leaves his fate in the other boy's hands as he is dipped downwards, almost to the floor. ...And then he's back up before he knows it! He blinks, with a nervous smile.]

Thank you! I, I suppose that we are working quite well together! I never imagined myself going through a move like that. [He nods slowly. He's been on edge, but now that he's gone through the dip, it feels like the most dangerous part is over. So he tries to calm down.] I- I am trying my best. Our movements should be as smooth and perfect as possible. An example for the other students to go by!

Ahaha. You're too nervous, Kiyotaka.

[ midori is proud of the conclusion the other has came to, smiling softly as they partake in dance together, but there is a bit of trouble in paradise when he makes such expressions. he's far too worried of what will happen, not thinking of his own steps, and it shows that he doesn't trust midori with his body. ah, if they are without that then the dance will never be seen to the end perfectly. ]

Would you feel better to lead us...?

[ if he has control then maybe, but control is a gluttonous concept that midori cannot get enough of. if he allows it then it's all because of him, the start is because of him and the ending. even if he acquiesces this to ishimaru to have, it doesn't mean that midori is following by his steps, but that the other is merging into his own. that's how dancing should be between two people, but when it's with him... well, that's a different story.

playfully, he smiles. ]

They've seen mine, so how about yours!

I apologize! I... I am certainly doing my best to keep composed!

[And yet, he does feel nervous and on edge. Thrown by his words and impressed by how skilled Midori is, Ishimaru has trouble fully getting into it. But the offer sounds promising. Maybe if he has more control, he can feel better about this. Then again, he still won't be as impressive.]

Are you sure about that? I- I believe that I am not nearly as skilled as you in this area, Hiyori-kun!

You shouldn't say things like that! Practice makes perfect... so I want you to take care of me as you dance, I'll follow your steps.

[ nervous is bad for him, so he should give something else like reassurance so he can feel comfortable like this. it must be a lot to have someone who is used to this leading, and he might lack confidence knowing he'll be nowhere close, but that doesn't matter. with time and effort, he can come as close as midori is, he doesn't understand the concept of giving up. ]

You're not going to give up so soon, are you? As the Student Council President, such behavior would mean you lack a leadership role... but that can't be the case!

[ he's teasing. ]
