Lonely and looking for love? Friends, maybe? Well look no further—the ASUNARO-sponsored Spring Speed-dating Festival has begun. Join us in room 3-A, where participants will then be given an assignment of "even" or "odd" and seated at a numbered table. You only have so long to talk to your partner before the bell rings and it's time to move on, but not to worry, if you find someone you like, the two of you can step out together! At the end of each round, "even" players will stay at their tables, and "odd" will move to the next. This is mostly flavour, but there is one important piece to keep in mind: in the interest of nobody being left out, leaving before the end of the event is only allowed in pairs.

getting to know each other

So you've found someone you vibe with—congratulations! The next step is getting to know each other a little more. Cementing the bond, y'know? But high school is maybe a little young for marriage, so let's stick to the dates.

For the duration of the festival, classroom 3-E has been transformed into a makeshift movie theatre. Stop in with your date to watch one of these heart-racing movies, guaranteed to bring you and your date closer together! For the more romantic of the bunch, classroom 3-B will be home to dance lessons. Find a partner and get to know a Waltz, Argentine Tango, or request another, and try not to step on each other's feet as you get up-close and personal.

Anyone else who finds someone willing to pair up with them can write both of their names for entry into a raffle for a runner-up prize. Winners of the raffle will be given the choice between riches, quality of life, or valuable information as a thanks for participating and a congratulations on their new life together.

[ Oh, someone is approaching him?! The student council president, at that! Alice draws himself up fully to match Ishimaru's straight-backed posture, but the effect is altered somewhat by his looking down at the youth, arms crossed. ]

You've chosen wisely, Student Council President Kiyotaka Ishimaru... I shall prove to you that I'm an equally courteous and respectful dance partner!! Have you a dance in mind?

[ To tell the truth, though he recognizes the names, it's not as if he has any experience with any of the available options... ]

I am pleased to find you agreeable, Yabusame-kun!

[Ishimaru grinned. Alice greeted him in such a polite way, and while exhibiting such good posture! Ishimaru feels like he made the rught call here.]

I feel that a waltz might suffice, unless you have anything else in mind. A simple, yet respectable ballroom dance!

[shimashima]

Indeed! Nothing could be more simple and respectable. Today, we'll learn to waltz like true waltzing masters...

[ Whether or not that skill will ever prove useful, they'll possess the ability, at least. So it's settled! With that, Alice proceeds to conduct some research by glancing around to study other dancing pairs, some of whom seem to be making good progress.

Obviously, it's important to begin courteously and respectfully, so he bows before positioning his hands in the air near Ishimaru without touching him. ]

Now that is the spirit! Let us get right to it!

[Ah, a bow! How proper! Impressed, Ishimaru inclines into his own formal bow, before stepping forth to get into position. He reaches for one hand of Alice's, while placing his other on his side.]

We are now fully ready to get started!

[shimashima]

[ Well, since physical contact doesn't make the student council president uncomfortable, Alice rests his free hand on Ishimaru's side in turn. Now they're fully ready to become waltzing masters! Mwahaha... ]

We are... Our preparations are complete.

[ Once more, it's time to peek at what others are doing — it's not against the rules! Careful footwork appears to be the key to proper waltzing, but how will they coordinate their steps to move back and forth smoothly?!

Abruptly less certain of their success, Alice casts a look downward to gauge the distance between Ishimaru's feet and his own so as not to step on the boy's toes. ]

[This is fine! It's just two young men making some physical contact to take part in a dance. Nothing scandalous about that much!]

Indeed! We are now fully ready! Would you like the honor of leading the movement?

[He doesn't do any peeking of his own, keeping himself focused on his dancing partner. Ishimaru feels he's acquainted himself well enough with the necessary movements, so he's ready to get started!]

[shimashima]

Wait—

[ He's less fully ready than he initially believed! If he moves forward, will his current dance partner know to move with him, only taking steps backward?! Or will their feet collide...

No, these are foolish thoughts. They are ready! ]

V-Very well! Our waltz begins, Student Council President Kiyotaka Ishimaru!!

[ So saying, Alice slides one foot forward, followed by the other. Waltzing doesn't involve pushing one's partner, of course, but perhaps he needs to tug the hand in his grip into the desired direction? ]

[Ah, the formality continues! That helps Ishimaru to feel more comfortable and calm as they get right into it.]

Indeed it does! And what a splendid start this is turning out to be, my fellow student, Yabusame-kun!

[He shifts along with Alice's movements, matching the rhythm. And he'll let him guide his hand as well! He has faith in him. They are off to a nice, solid start in his book!]

[ Now that it's acknowledged, it is splendid, isn't it? It's formal and respectable — everything that a proper waltz should be! Yes, they're doing well after all. No collisions, no crushed toes... Their movements are taking them across their allocated section of the floor in time to the music's rhythm!

Relaxing, Alice decides that watching their feet is no longer necessary. Nor should the steps be carried out too tentatively! ]

Perhaps we're naturals... Instead of lessons, we merely needed an opportunity to discover it.
