THERE AINT NO PARTY LIKE A BLANKET FORT SLUMBER PARTY

When: May 22nd (Saturday) after 6pm and the following morning
Where: Class 3-D
What: it's time to heal from all the chaos and murder with a blanket fort slumber party, hell yeah hell yeah

Sometime after school has fully closed for the day and everyone else has gone home, a sign is put up on the door to 3-D. In rounded letters and surrounded by drawings of flowers and a couple cartoon cats, it reads:

BLANKET FORT CONSTRUCTION ZONE
slumber party @ 8pm
all are welcome!
(rule breakers will be sent to JAIL)
... if you show up early, everything might still be in the process of being set up, but by 8pm most of the desks and chairs in the room have either been pushed to the sides or stacked strategically in the middle to form mighty fortress walls. These are, of course, topped with blankets for cover, because it wouldn't be a blanket fort without blankets. Blankets are a limited resource at the school, so it's recommended to bring your own if you don't want to share a fort with someone else. Or maybe just steal a big scrap of fabric from the art room. Close enough, right?

Aside from the obvious arrangements at the centre, there is an un-blanketed pair of desks set aside for snacks. Nene made cookies, and Clamor has put out a bowl of healthy nuts and fruit (as if anyone would actually take those over the cookies). For drinks, there are a few bottles of juice and one pot of (thoroughly filtered) tea and a few cups to use. A small folded sign at the table politely reads "Don't be greedy."

If you are greedy, or if you harass anyone else just trying to have a good time, you risk being sent to... gay baby jail™. It is, as always, a cardboard box situated in the farthest corner of the room, and guarded diligently by only the most fearsome of dads and buff teenagers. You have been warned.

There is also a second cardboard jail cell on the opposite corner of the room, which is not labelled (yet). The inside is absolutely covered in scratch marks, since it's the same box that was used to catch the cat earlier in the month... but now it's jail 2: jail harder. It is reserved for criminals who cannot be allowed to collaborate during jail time, and you know who you are, please just behave yourselves.

This is meant to be a slumber party, so eventually, an amount of slumber will be expected. Luckily it's the weekend, so everyone is welcome to sleep in for as long as they want... just don't sleep in too late, unless you want to get stuck helping with clean up.

This is meant to be something of a break from the usual death and despair of murderschool, so please don't do any actual murders in this log that is literally the lowest bar i can ask of y'all. Put warnings in your threads as needed! General chaos is fine, but characters that cause too much of a disturbance will be manhandled and sent to gay baby jail™. You have been warned... twice!!

ICly the fort construction and party is being arranged by Clamor, Noah, Sidney and Nene, but basically anyone who wants to pop in and help out is welcome to, and CR may have been asked to join/help out in advance. If you need an excuse for your character to come, someone else could've dragged them there to chill—just ask!

[ okay look. arthur morgan has been here all of a goddamn day. like it isn’t bad enough that he’s in literally any form of Civilization, now you’re all suddenly bunking here here?!

the shared space, even if he won’t admit it, is something of a comfort. it reminds him of the camp back home. even if he’s not actually going anywhere near the blanket forts, he’s going to at least check out the room briefly, still a little marveled by how new everything is.

[ otherwise he can be found guarding the door to the homeroom, mostly keeping to himself. he can be found occasionally tinkering with an odd-looking rock featuring a hole through it, or putting pencil to paper in a small journal. ]

( something about this man makes sidney feel like he's just stumbled upon a kindred spirit of a sort. after one of his rounds, checking on people individually, he makes a stop at the door. )

[ thank christ. there’s another adult here. he closes his journal and addresses sidney. ]

Arthur. [ there’s a small pause as he realizes there’s no point in using an alias. ] Morgan.

Good to meet you. ... And, honestly, don't feel pressured to stay with the kids. They just needed a bit of levity, so. ( he shrugs, but otherwise he remains as impassive as ever. ) It's a bit of an adjustment, I'm sure. When did you wake up?

Sure.

[ Arthur’s not planning on sticking around, but his newness still has him feeling overprotective. He’s killed plenty of people, but these ones are (mostly) innocents. ]

( "words" meaning definitely not something peaceful on his end either. he can endure some heavy shit himself, but most of the people here are 15 year olds who shouldn't have to be afraid like this. )

A chunk of the kids here have been here for several months now. I wound up being aware around the tail end of April.

[ he’s looking up from his journal, staring at her like she’s grown another head. ]

[ Honestly she does not blame him but she returns the look with an empty one of her own but also expectantly. ]

[ Nanami reaches for the beetle and plucks it off his hat. ]

[ He's heard the words "cowboy" and "game" but never in that order or context and it leaves Arthur raising an eyebrow. ]

( amami's been coming and going from the room — dropping by the vending machines, bathroom, you know — so it's only natural that at some point he'll pass by arthur playing with his rock. with that in mind, rather than the usual nod of acknowledgment he'd have given passing by before, he draws to a pause when it catches his eye.

[ Arthur looks up at him, an eyebrow quirked but stoic as ever. He doesn't mention what happens when you look through it, because he's still pretty convinced this place has him drugged and he'll sound crazy.

Arthur keeps a pretty tight grip on the rock, but extends his arm and holds it out. ]

You know anything about it?

Hm. I can't say I do, but when you say that...

( amami's taking a good look at it — not reaching out to grab it or anything, but maybe leaning in to get an idea of the texture and... it kind of looks like every rock he's seen, to be honest. )

Is something strange about it? Besides the fact that you have something from outside, I mean.

( he knows what his first thought would be based on the shape, sure, but he's not gonna be the one to make himself sound crazy before at least seeing what this guy has to say about it first. )

[ Whether it was or not is another matter entirely. If he hadn't looked through it, he would still be prattling around here in a daze like nothing was wrong. ]

Huh. I mean, I think all of us probably understand that feeling.

( of this place trying to drive them crazy, that is. to be frank, amami doesn't even know what to make of his own sense of self at this point, with the impossibly overlapping (and in his case, missing) memories, but... all they can really do is take their present experiences in stride. those are the only certainty right now, so... given a moment, he offers a smile and holds out his hand. )
