i. INTEREST CHECK!

( at some point during the first week of june, you might find nene at the bulletin board, putting up a new flyer: an advertisement for a potential gardening club! the flyer itself has a series of lines so that people can note down their names to show their own interest, but since you seem to have caught nene- or perhaps another person also interested- there, you can ask her anything right there! despite the circles under her eyes, she smiles brightly when approached. )

ii. a: the first meeting!

( a few days later- wow, that sheet filled up fast!- and nene has happily let everyone who signed up- or perhaps were signed up against their will- to meet after school in room 3-E. at some point you'll see her trying to lug around a bunch of equipment to set up... or maybe you'll get there by the time everything's been set up. 3-E has a new shelf installed, and on series of desks pushed together is a few stacks of clay pots, planters, tools, and a bunch of seed packets. left on the ground is sacks of soil and meal. to the side, however, is a little egg carton planter that nene is tending to herself, given that the flowers have began sprouting over the course of may. )

Hi! Welcome to the first meeting of the gardening club! Not everyone has experience, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! If I can't help, I'm sure someone with more experience can!

So, we've got a lot to work with... which I think is really fun, because it gives everyone an opportunity to do something different!

( she's so excited, guys. as she starts setting things out for everyone, it should be clear to see the inventory:

10 Standard Clay Pots - 1 for each Club Member
5 small multi-plot planters
12 packs of seeds ( American Coneflower, Chamomile, Mint, Daffodil, Lavender, Sage, Strawberries, Cosmos, Basil, Rosemary, Anemones, Jade Plant )
3 Hand Tool sets ( trowel, transplanter, cultivator and weeder )

and she's also made a set of labels for everything with toothpicks, paper and a bunch of markers for everyone to make their own. all in all, a varied and... oddly useful haul? )

ii. b: getting to work

( after helping people get started, nene has turned most of her attention to the egg carton planter. if you pay attention, you can see her carefully cutting the cardboard and transferring different sprouts into a planter. though she seems to be leaving the little labels she's made blank. huh! what's up with that? )

iii. the mingle

( not an actual prompt, just have fun and get to know your new fellow clubmates! some folks might need help getting started, or maybe you recognize some of the seeds! the bloodmeal doesn't activate the void school, thankfully. have fun, don't be a dick, love you all. )

[ Of course, the seed Turing picked for their pot was the jade plant. Good ol' Crassula ovata. It made them feel a little more at home, too. Anyone observing would notice that Turing seemed comfortable working with the soil and plants despite...well, being a robot. Gardening for fun was not exactly a thing that people associated with robots, and yet here they were with their pot and their label that they had spent a slightly ridiculous amount of time on.

It hadn't worked with Wilty, but maybe this one would be more receptive to their voice? Might as well try right now and make sure it was used to their voice from the beginning! ]

Hello, Crassula ovata! I'll do my best to take care of you. My apologies for using nomenclature instead of a proper name, but I would like to put a little more thought into it before making such a decision.

It's good that you're talking to it! Plants respond well to stimulus, even if it's subtle. I hope raising your new plant goes well! If you need anything, I'll see if I can get it!

Thankfully, succulents are really good to care for. So I think it'll go well!

Ah, well... That plant was also a succulent. The same species of succulent, as a matter of fact.

Hm. Hmmmmm... Oh! Succulents can be really picky about their soil and water both, so we can pay close attention to that.

However, I'm sure you're very busy overseeing the club as a whole, so I will do my utmost to manage on my own as well.

Ah- yeah... I'm probably gonna be asking Mr. Lucifer and Sakasaki-senpai for help a lot, I've never done anything like this before. L-Leading a club, I mean- I was in my real school's gardening club, so I know what needs doing, mostly.

[ Not that Turing didn't have confidence in Nene's abilities, but hey, that had to count for something. ]

We had a plot of land outside to grow vegetables in, and then we had some flowers and succulents to take care of inside, on behalf of the class.

A plot of land? [ Their imagination immediately ran away from them as they pictured a huge farm instead of a plot of land that might be on school grounds. ]

That sounds wonderful! It would be nice if we could have a plot of land outside as well.

...A normal plot of land, that is.

Ah- yeah, I'm... ... ( she's discussed it with natsume, and she wants to work with the actual land again, but... looks at where they are. m. maybe another time. ) I'm not sure I really trust anything that happens here. But we can only hope our plants have good, not-haunted soil.

[ Not that they would be scared of that. Nope. No sirree. ]

Yeah, probably. Haunted grounds in stories include the... well, ground, right? So...

( maybe her dreams of an outdoor plot will have to wait. ... she'll have to see if she can get some nice planter-friendly vegetable seeds when the opportunity rises. )

If the ground is haunted, I wonder if whatever grew in that ground would also be haunted...

Hmmm.... depends on the haunting? ( nene- ) But either way, it'd probably be a bad idea to eat anything from that...

[ If they grew some ghost peppers, would they become ghost ghost peppers? Ghost squared peppers? Hmmm. ]

Agreed. While I don't need to eat, I don't want anything to happen to anyone who does need to...
