[ The following half-cryptic message goes up in the early morning before class, at the exact same time as two people are let into the faculty office to talk to the Vice Principal. ]

Sorry. I should have told everyone a lot sooner.
I know that.
But... if I did that, there was a chance it might have become about the merit points. And no matter what, I wanted to prevent that at any cost.
The person who did it might have been wrong... but they're still an important friend that we lived with.
That's something that shouldn't be reduced to a number.
The fact that it can be is what's messed up in the first place.
So maybe I wanted it to be a message. Not only for that person, but for the rest of us too.

It's a bright and sunny day. The heat is unbearable, with sunlight reflecting off the whites of the outer walls of the school building and seeming to concentrate right in the middle of the courtyard where it comes off the concrete in waves. In desperation for a breeze, you open a window— or perhaps you can't, and simply rattle the window latch futilely— when something large and black falls from the sky and smacks into the pavement, black turned red turned nausea and vertigo and the consequential darkness of the school when a blood sacrifice has been observed.
Black shadows students start to converge upon the body in the courtyard, although their efforts to drag the body into the expanding void in the auditorium can be thwarted by breaking a mirror and returning to reality— just in time to see a second body hit the pavement in the courtyard and send you right back. Escape once more and... a third body hits the ground, bright blue eyes staring lifelessly up at the sky above.
The sky stares back, dark storm clouds gathering in the horizon. Tonight, and through the weekend, it will rain.

✽ Please use the toplevels below for investigations. For some semblance of organization, there will be a separate toplevel for body investigation, location investigation, and suspect investigation, as well as one for general questions.
✽ As a reminder, npc students can open/close any window; pc students in classes with at least one rank (3-A, 3-B, 2-C, 2-D, 2-E, and all of the first year classes) can open/close windows in 1-B, 1-D, and 2-C; and pc students in classes that gained at least one rank in the past month (3-A, 2-C, 2-D, 2-E, 1-B, 1-D, and 1-E) can exit through the courtyard-facing window in 1-D.
✽ Unless there's an ic reason to argue otherwise, npc faculty will remove all three bodies by the end of the day.

BODY #2
Body: The second body that nobody's looked at yet!
Action: Amami will use a rope to help lower Saihara out into the courtyard through the 1-D classroom window, since Saihara can go outside but Amami can't, so they're trying to do a tandem investigation with one outside, one inside.
After picking up the matching walkie-talkie from Komaeda, he'll investigate body #2 (edits this to say as Liz takes pictures... hello master) and look for the following first:
- A rough comparison of where this body landed vs the other two? Are they all in the same general area or is there some kind of noticeable order to them?
- Who is the victim? Do they have their PDA on them? What else is in their pockets?
- Inventory of... all the injuries on the body... obviously.

Location: the three bodies landed in the same general area, and those who watched the bodies fall can confirm that body 1 fell and hit the ground first, then body 2, then Izumi
Victim: the victim is a second year Shuichi may recognize as a boy from his homeroom, and Shuichi can unlock the PDA in his pockets using the student's finger. There is nothing special of note on the PDA; the student apparently has bad grades and a low number of merit points. Inside his pocket is a half-empty set of matches, house keys, and a crumpled up exam with 24% in math
Injuries: broken right arm, broken right wrist, general bruising on the right side of the body consistent with fall impact on the ground, and heavy bruising on the front of the throat

Can it be safely (or at least reasonably) assumed the broken arm and wrist are also from the fall? Since they're on the right side like most of the damage? If it seems that way, Shuichi will only look at the throat bruising. Is it like the ones Elizabeth saw on Izumi, which look more like fingers, or are these different?

Shuichi can assume the injuries are from the fall. The pattern of bruises looks different than the ones on Izumi's neck. On this student, it's concentrated right in the front where the adam's apple is, as opposed to Izumi's which is wrapped around the front and sides. There is no banding either, and looks more like blunt force trauma.

Is there anything on the skin apart from the bruise itself? I.E. leftover splinters or any kind of debris lodged or ingrained in it. How about on the student's collar/shirt around the neck area?

Also! After Amami tells him about his chat with the two NPCs, Shuichi will remain outside until 6PM (since it was already close), and try to approach as many students as he can as they start to leave the school and go home. Assuming they don't avoid him bc he was weird on the PDA earlier, he'll look for people who witnessed the actual fall of the bodies from the windows, if there are any, and ask them where they were when they saw it.
TL;DR: What is the highest floor someone was on that was able to actually SEE any of the bodies drop down? Or like, whatever the blurry motion of something falling past your window was.

Some of the npc students give him weird looks because of the message, but there are still some that indulge him. Since npc students do not experience void school, the first body was missed by most students and the number of students who saw what happened is very few. Of these students, they were on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, and more were on the club side of the school than the classroom side.

Anyway, if people on the 3rd floor saw the fall, it's safe to assume the body was thrown from the 4th, right? Since you have to be lower to actually... catch the motion. Shuichi will diligently tell Amami what he found out through the walkie-talkie, and suggest he also check the bathroom next to 1-D and maybe the crawlspaces around the area.
On his end, he'll either go back up with someone or wait until Amami's free to help him again, but either way later that evening, he'll check his classmate's desk and locker, and also the trash can in their homeroom. What does he find...

True for windows on the classroom side to see something fall past the window, but on the clubroom side if a person is standing right next to a window, their gaze is naturally drawn either straight across or lower, especially in following movement. Which, now that I think about it, a student on the 4th floor could see too, but for simplicity's sake I'll say that nobody on the 4th floor saw anything.
The trashcan will be emptied by the janitor before the end of the day (6PM) so it will be empty if he waits too long. The classmate's desk doesn't have much of note inside- it contains some textbooks, a notebook with an attempt at taking notes, and school supplies. Inside their locker is an extra set of school uniforms, outdoor shoes, several superhero comic books, and two months worth of failed exams; it seems as if they were really struggling on all sorts of subjects.

Hmm... okay, so just to make absolutely sure so we don't assume the wrong thing, was there anyone specifically in the 3rd floor classrooms that saw the drop past their window too? Or is that a suspicious blank / gap in accounts...
OKAY tbh I feel like Shuichi would reasonably remember that from the last murder, so since he himself stayed out past 6PM, he'll ask Amami to swing by in the middle of what he's doing and check the trash real quick before then. In Enh's words: "if you have time to steal from the cult you have time to check the trash can"

Nobody on the 3rd floor saw the bodies drop completely past their windows from top to bottom, but ones on the club room side were able to see the bodies in the middle of falling from the 3rd floor below. Basically, focus on the 3rd and 4th floors.
There is only normal school trash inside the trashcan in 2-C, lots of papers and pencil shavings and Shuichi can touch wet gum if he's using his hands to root through the trash.
