[ The following half-cryptic message goes up in the early morning before class, at the exact same time as two people are let into the faculty office to talk to the Vice Principal. ]

Sorry. I should have told everyone a lot sooner.
I know that.
But... if I did that, there was a chance it might have become about the merit points. And no matter what, I wanted to prevent that at any cost.

The person who did it might have been wrong... but they're still an important friend that we lived with.
That's something that shouldn't be reduced to a number.
The fact that it can be is what's messed up in the first place.
So maybe I wanted it to be a message. Not only for that person, but for the rest of us too.

[ There's no further explanation that follows, and any comments, no matter how important, will obviously not be answered for at least a few hours, depending on how things settle. ]

It's a bright and sunny day. The heat is unbearable, with sunlight reflecting off the whites of the outer walls of the school building and seeming to concentrate right in the middle of the courtyard where it comes off the concrete in waves. In desperation for a breeze, you open a window— or perhaps you can't, and simply rattle the window latch futilely— when something large and black falls from the sky and smacks into the pavement, black turned red turned nausea and vertigo and the consequential darkness of the school when a blood sacrifice has been observed.

Black shadows students start to converge upon the body in the courtyard, although their efforts to drag the body into the expanding void in the auditorium can be thwarted by breaking a mirror and returning to reality— just in time to see a second body hit the pavement in the courtyard and send you right back. Escape once more and... a third body hits the ground, bright blue eyes staring lifelessly up at the sky above.

The sky stares back, dark storm clouds gathering in the horizon. Tonight, and through the weekend, it will rain.

✽ Please use the toplevels below for investigations. For some semblance of organization, there will be a separate toplevel for body investigation, location investigation, and suspect investigation, as well as one for general questions.
✽ As a reminder, npc students can open/close any window; pc students in classes with at least one rank (3-A, 3-B, 2-C, 2-D, 2-E, and all of the first year classes) can open/close windows in 1-B, 1-D, and 2-C; and pc students in classes that gained at least one rank in the past month (3-A, 2-C, 2-D, 2-E, 1-B, 1-D, and 1-E) can exit through the courtyard-facing window in 1-D.
✽ Unless there's an ic reason to argue otherwise, npc faculty will remove all three bodies by the end of the day.

INVESTIGATION - BODIES

Use this toplevel to investigate one of the three bodies. Although only certain characters (see ooc notes above) can physically exit into the courtyard, any character may see the bodies from the windows and investigate via observation. There are three bodies total, and all three land in the courtyard just outside the nurse's office.

Sherlock will take a closer look at the swelling on the back of the head, and the left arm bruising - can he tell the relative size and shape of the object that caused the bruising?

Both the swelling on the back of the head and the left arm bruising looks to be done by a small object, maybe an inch or two in diameter for the impact, and doesn't seem to be done with a particularly long object (eg it looks pretty uniform in shape). There are multiple bruises on the arm, mostly from the elbow to the wrist.

Action: Firstly!! She's gonna be taking pictures of all the bodies with the camera Rika's giving her (handwaved), we can't let bodies sit around anymore so this is important... Shini already mentioned so in her top level, and I'll mention Liz is doing that for poor corpse 2 and corpse Izumi as well.

But we're gonna focus on Izumi for actual investigative purposes, so here we go:
- Cause of death, like any notable injuries, marks, etc. on him.
- Anything in his pockets... Like say... A Gun (this is what komaeda wants)

- what happens if komaeda uses izumi's finger to swipe open the pda, does he find anything interesting if it unlocks? like his last messages, or any weird apps, you know the works, and also if he can get the code to his locker so he can open that later too.
- also, he wants to look in his mouth to see if anything's been lodged, so yeah he's digging around in it
- per alice's kind request bc liz is a maiden, and komaeda is a scoundrel, liz is going to request komaeda to kindly undress him to see... the full extent of his body for clues. :) the hot breeze must be good for bodies.

PDA: the last message shown is Shuichi's message mentioned in the log above (everybody's PDA will show the same forum messages) and there are no weird apps. He can see the code to Izumi's locker

While Komaeda's playing with the body, Liz is gonna take a closer look at his injuries! Let's start from the top... back of the head and the bruising around his neck, we'll go down from there.

The back of the head feels a little bit squishy, like the skull had broken, while the bruising around his neck is mostly wrapped around the front and sides. lmk if she's looking for anything more specific and what!

BODY #2

Character(s): Shuichi Saihara (and Rantarou Amami, kinda, remotely)
Body: The second body that nobody's looked at yet!
Action: Amami will use a rope to help lower Saihara out into the courtyard through the 1-D classroom window, since Saihara can go outside but Amami can't, so they're trying to do a tandem investigation with one outside, one inside.

After picking up the matching walkie-talkie from Komaeda, he'll investigate body #2 (edits this to say as Liz takes pictures... hello master) and look for the following first:
- A rough comparison of where this body landed vs the other two? Are they all in the same general area or is there some kind of noticeable order to them?
- Who is the victim? Do they have their PDA on them? What else is in their pockets?
- Inventory of... all the injuries on the body... obviously.

Location: the three bodies landed in the same general area, and those who watched the bodies fall can confirm that body 1 fell and hit the ground first, then body 2, then Izumi
Victim: the victim is a second year Shuichi may recognize as a boy from his homeroom, and Shuichi can unlock the PDA in his pockets using the student's finger. There is nothing special of note on the PDA; the student apparently has bad grades and a low number of merit points. Inside his pocket is a half-empty set of matches, house keys, and a crumpled up exam with 24% in math
Injuries: broken right arm, broken right wrist, general bruising on the right side of the body consistent with fall impact on the ground, and heavy bruising on the front of the throat

I'm crying... I can't believe I'm saying this but he takes the matches. Can't be too picky about resources in this school. Also, how do the PDAs store the locker combo exactly? Can he just memorize it or does he have to go the extreme Komaeda way and take a finger and the PDA itself? Because he's... probably not doing that...

Can it be safely (or at least reasonably) assumed the broken arm and wrist are also from the fall? Since they're on the right side like most of the damage? If it seems that way, Shuichi will only look at the throat bruising. Is it like the ones Elizabeth saw on Izumi, which look more like fingers, or are these different?

It's displayed on the home screen once it's unlocked via fingerprint, shown along with the student ID, merit points, grades, etc, so he can just memorize it or write it down. Komaeda didn't have to do anything that he did.

Shuichi can assume the injuries are from the fall. The pattern of bruises looks different than the ones on Izumi's neck. On this student, it's concentrated right in the front where the adam's apple is, as opposed to Izumi's which is wrapped around the front and sides. There is no banding either, and looks more like blunt force trauma.

The deck of cards seem to be well worn on the edges, as if they're used frequently, and are slick and easy to shuffle. It appears to be a normal 52-card deck with the usual heart/club/diamond/spade suits, plus 6 Jokers. There is nothing noteworthy on the backs or fronts of the cards.
