[ it's because the answer is both tbh... it's kinda terribly cold but there's also an attempt at justification. they just can't be simple.

but alright i'll give you this: whenever kokichi visits his locker next time, he'll still find a few (small bc they have to fit through the slit of the door) of the vending machine snacks he's been seen with repeatedly as opposed to only once or twice. because sometimes you're observant enough to remember but anyway they're bound together with simple thread to keep them from scattering around and there's a note that only reads: ]

[CRITICAL HIT! IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Shuichi's totally not the kind if person to lurk around waiting to see a reaction, so he won't get to know how it goes over! Which is probably good, since his initial reaction upon opening his locker is immediate disgust and then a carefully blank face, since Komaeda also left him a gift in the form of a severed finger.

But once he gets over that and actually picks up the snacks and reads the note, he stands there for a solid thirty seconds rereading it before pocketing all of it (minus the finger) and immediately speedwalking off to some private corner to die a lil bit.]
