July Event
07/03 Hatching Day
Those groups who have seen their flour sack baby's survival through the end of the fourth week will be rewarded with 50 merit points each and full marks on their project. After class ends, if the sacks are taken outside of the classroom, the seams begin to tear... a little hand pokes out, wet with blood and flour slurry, and a new life is born into the world. Cooing, the baby reaches out to touch its parents' face: it wants its mother's eyes, its father's nose...
If any part of a character's face is touched by the baby, they will lose the sense corresponding to the facial feature for one full week (eyes = sight, mouth = taste, skin = touch, etc), and it is possible to lose more than one sense. The babies' preferred food is flesh and blood, and they are always hungry. Please report in the toplevel below if they are killed at any time, otherwise they can be found scurrying around the school snapping at people's ankles tracking glitter footprints everywhere after a semi-successful attempt at licking the shiny off the bulletin board.

07/03 Grand Opening
At the end of classes, the students who haven't been mauled to death by their children pour from their classrooms into the hallway to go home for the weekend, although more than one pause in confusion before realizing that it's quiet. There is no hammering, no sawing, no screaming that'd been background noise for the past month due to the construction of the elevator, and the doors to the central stairwell have been replaced with sliding elevator doors. The light at the very top indicates that the car is currently on the ground floor...
Gundham Tanaka and Shuichi Saihara press the button to the elevator on the ground floor, located next to the main entrance, and the double doors silently slide open to reveal a metal room with single blue wooden chair at the center of the car with a person sitting upon it, turned around so the back is facing the door. There is blood splattered all over the walls, and on the opposite wall from the door, scrawled in rust red blood below the clock, are the words:
this is
hopE
is ugly
Please use the toplevel below to investigate the body and the crime scene.

07/03 Grand Re-opening
If you haven't been scared off from using the elevator yet... it does work as normal, providing a swift and smooth ride from one floor to another, provided that you only touch the buttons indicating the first four floors. There are others, mostly white but some black and one red, with the white buttons numbering -6 to 27, out of order and occasionally skipping numbers. Most of the other buttons still don't seem to work, with the black buttons causing the car to shudder but otherwise not move, but the red one...
Pressing the red button causes the car to plummet, the free fall lasting a full minute before it gradually and safely slows to a stop so its passengers don't get turned into pancakes. The door opens, allowing its passengers to step out and find themselves... home. In a sense.
The world outside is a bad end version of the character's canon from the perspective of your character, for example Dangans in the middle of the Ultimate Hunt, or Personas where Apathy Syndrome had fully taken hold of the world. Any familiar face is rendered obscured, their voice unintelligible, and they act as if they do not recognize the character, passing through them like shadow students in the void. The space is limited to the size of a building or street, with an invisible boundary preventing characters from progressing any further, but characters are welcome to stay as long as they like, with the elevator waiting patiently where they left it. Returning to the elevator and pressing one of the buttons to the first four floors will return the character back to the school.
The clock on the back wall ticks backwards.

OOC
✽ This month, characters in homerooms 1-A, 1-B, 1-D, 2-C, 2-D, 2-E, 3-D (those who rose 10+ ranks in the past month) will find that the water looks... clear. It smells and tastes fresh, whether from the sink or the water fountains or bottled in the vending machine. The same water will still appear slightly tinged pink to other characters.
✽ Characters in homerooms 1-B, 1-D, and 2-C (the top three classes) will find that they can open the front doors, and this month, they can step through. A single step. And then they meet the barrier again, but that's progress. In this space outside the door, the air is cool, fresh and invigorating.
✽ Regardless of whether a character was able to enter the courtyard in previous months, for the month of July, only characters who have committed at least one murder can freely open and exit through windows and the door to the courtyard from the locker area, although they are still limited to the courtyard. These murders include ones that have occurred in the game so far, as well as those OOCly assumed from tally marks stated in the app acceptance. Even if your character would never kill on purpose!! sometimes... things happen...
✽ The red button in the elevator allows characters to visit a bad end version of their canon world. ICly, if more than one character is in the elevator at the time, it is random as to which canon world exists outside the doors. If more than one character exits the elevator but leave a character behind, the character left behind will NOT be able to return to the school UNLESS they have castmates that would take the elevator back down again. Otherwise, there is no way to return once the doors are closed, and this will effectively count as a permadeath and drop from the game.
✽ As a reminder, finals are July 15-20. Summer vacation is July 21-August 29, during which the school is closed and club resources are not replenished. The full moon is on July 24.

DR1 spoilers in Prompts C and D
[It doesn't take long for Ishimaru to realize that the water is now clear while taking a trip to the bathroom. Could it finally be clean?! Upon discovering this, he rushes out into the hallway to announce for everyone else.]
Everyone, listen up! I've made the discovery of a lifetime. It seems that this school's water has finally been purified. Ahaha! Behold!!
[With that, he turns on the water fountain! He takes a drink and splashes some water onto his face!
...Of course, depending on one's homeroom, someone may or may see the water the same as him!]
B. No Kidding
[Things are starting to look up, a little bit. The water seems clean again, the fundraiser's around the horizon, and the flour child project has reached its end! This child, Chiharu, has reached the end of the assignment's period, and now it's time for it to be born... wait, what. As Ishimaru carries it out from the classroom, something starts to burst from within! Sure, he's noticed some odd things about the flour sack, but he never thought it would really turn out like this! He gasps as the child's head surfaces from the flour sack.]
Ch...Chiharu-kun? A-ah... hello? Welcome... to the world... [He wants to be proud of his child! And he does find it cute in an odd way, but he's also still stunned and processing what is happening. The creature reaches out for his face. It seems cute at first! The baby is tugging at its father's nose. But as it does so, he suddenly notices something. It's as if programs there were always running suddenly stopped working. Smells disappear from his nose, even the gross smell of blood accompanying the child. And he can't... feel anything anymore either. Not the child's grip, or the sack in his arms...]
Wh-what in the world has just happened...?! [Startled, he quickly sets the child down as he tries to come to grips with this!]
C-1. Boys' Life of Despair, Volume II
[Eventually, he finds the elevator. One of his greatest fears come true, and his world erodes again once he sees Chihiro seates\d in the chair. He drops to his knees and cries out hysterically.]
NOOOOO!!! FUJISAKI-KUN!!!
[And his hair glows white once more as he continues to wail desperately, tears running down his cheeks like rapids while he pounds on the floor with his fists.]
BROOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
C-2: Boys' Life of Despair: Epilogue
[He ultimately manages to get a grip on himself. Though still Kiyondo, he's faced Chihiro's death and come up with a possible solution. Back at Hope's Peak, the remains of students were cleared away as if nothing happened. And here at Yogen, bodies are mysteriously whisked away by the janitor or disappear into the void. He can't allow that. He realizes that this is a chance to take control over how a beloved friend is put to rest. So he's gently wrapped Chihiro's remains in a blanket and brought him out to the courtyard for a burial. So numbed is he, that he does not even give much thought to the fact that he was able to walk out to the courtyard at all.
After placing the covered remains within the earth, Kiyondo prepares to deliver a eulogy before burying him. People are encouraged to listen, even from a window or open door if they cannot set foot outside.]
Hello, my fellow classmates. We are gathered here to mourn the passing of Chihiro Fujisaki, the Ultimate Programmer! Fujisaki-kun bore an incredible talent when it came to computers. He even created a copy of himself in a computer known as Alter Ego, who lives on to this day. [At least he hopes so. He hopes that the others were able to find the missing Alter Ego back at Hope's Peak.] So kind, so humble, so timid. Fujisaki-kun was afraid of being weak and hid much about himself, including his gender. But when I think of him... I remember only resilience, and strength. May your rest truly be peaceful... and may you one day find the happy life that you deserve.
[After all, Chihiro died once back home and lived again here. He wants to hope that if he can live again, the universe can be kinder on him.
But for now...
Kiyondo bows his head, an awful day for rain on his face. Before he starts burying, he grunts-]
...Goodbye, Bro.
D. That Elevated Quickly
[Once Chihiro has been taken care of, Ishimaru turns his attention back to the elevator. That damn elevator. After all that fuss, Ishimaru tries it out for himself. He's not Kiyondo at the moment, but he is more silent and sullen than usual. Robotically, he tries out each and every button, in hopes that it could take him somewhere new. Anywhere. Anywhere other than here! He might even be oblivious to someone stepping in with him when he presses the red button, sending it plummeting down.
He steps out into a world in ruins. The sky is red, the air hard to breathe. The surroundings look like some area of Tokyo, but it appears to be in ruins. Ishimaru is slack-jawed as he steps out.]
No... It can't be.
[He turns around, and right behind where the elevator door has materialized, there stands a massive, towering building. Its front gate is in shambles, and there is a giant circular hole where the front doors once were.]
But... I am outside. I am outside the school! It is supposed to be safe here!! I'm supposed to be free!
[If only that were so. As Ishimaru looks around desperately, a number of black-and-white bears converge around them...]
[Or ALTERNATELY: Bring Ishimaru to one of your bad ends instead!]
E. Wildcard
[Feel free to come up with an alternate prompt or hit me up for plotting!]
D, ive came with a gift
it's despairing, but he watches the back of ishimaru's hair to see if there's anything different about him, but there hardly seems to be any visible rage. he must be dying inside, full of remorse, and komaeda can only sigh — if ishimaru can't overcome something like this after already going through it before, there may be problems. he's digging in his pocket as he pulls out a pair of underwear to slip into ishimaru's back pocket while he's feeling down. perhaps that will make him feel better?
he does it as the elevator shifts so maybe he doesn't feel it happening, and as the elevator descends to show them a new, but familiar world — )
Free?
( he asks, a little confused by the term as he thinks about how they have more freedom than most. taking a step out of the elevator gives him familiar memories, he stares at the condition of the school, and it's not as dilapidated as he remembers it to be, but the sky if a familiar color that he felts a bit of responsibility for. he's taking this pretty well, actually, especially when the monokumas begin to pop up everywhere, and he blinks slow... )
Oh wow, I haven't seen this many Monokuma in quite awhile... hey, are you going to tell us why we're here? ( he seems to be looking towards one trying to determine if it's a unit or not, but it seems to be one of the "normal" ones, or what someone would think of as normal. )
Do you have the receipt
In any case, Ishimaru has a lot to keep him occupied, beyond the ruined state of his surroundings and the approaching Monokumas. But as Nagito speaks, Ishimaru finally becomes aware of him and whirls around to face him.]
You?! [He exclaims, bitterly. This is his first time meeting with Komaeda since learning about the murder, so he's particularly unhappy to see him. He meets him with a glare.]
Rrgh... I would like to know why you have come here, too! [But he knows that he shouldn't turn his back on the Monokumas either, so he turns to try to keep an eye on both parties at the same time.
As for the Monokuma that was addressed, it does not provide an explanation. It just laughs, a laugh that sounds even more nonsensical than usual!]
for what? no take backs from the vending machine
Why wouldn't I? I'm also a student of Hope's Peak...
( he takes a few steps forward, and considering his lucky status, he manages to walk through a few of the monokumas as he makes his way to the gate. his hands touch it first, smoothing his palms across to figure out how real it is. he's always found himself in... unexplainable circumstances, so he thinks of this as one too, especially how he's ready to leave ishimaru alone with the monokumas. )
Ishimaru-kun... if they see your face, they'll recognize you... there's no way we can escape once they realize who you are.
( did you know komaeda knew ishimaru's dad, i'm tearing up, but anyway. ) This feels almost too familiar...
Just stick it back in!!
He tries to stay on guard - but he shoots a look in Komaeda's direction as he keeps talking, even if he's not sure if he could trust his words.]
What do you mean?! Do you think that they will recognize that I should be trapped in the school? Or - do they know that I am now a blackened?! [His eyes narrow as he goes on more bitterly.] If that's the case, then you had better hope that they do not know what you have done, too!
[That would be true, it's horrifying]
they wont let us when we die our panties go to the yogen machine
( komaeda would be surprised if they didn't know who they were, but he doesn't see a monokuma kid anywhere, but to be surrounded by so many monokuma is also... not unfamiliar. he can already tell that ishimaru isn't too happy with him, the fact that he glares in komaeda's direction to remind him that they're not on good terms. luckily for him, it's easily ignored given the way komaeda acts, and he focuses more on the problem at hand. this would be a problem if he didn't know what they should do, but he's come prepared unlike the ultimate with him — )
If we are the blackened, we should both die —
( he wonders if the monokuma know the term from the way they surround them, but he doubts they cared about that because they would have waited right? monokuma has always played by the rules, and though he changes them as he sees fit... they're acting like a predator who would chase down their prey. )
But we're in a different place, with a different Headmaster... in a way, aren't we able to make a name for ourselves... aren't *we* Hope? ( because of what they did, what they'll continue to do... how are the monokuma's feeling? )
I always suspected that's what happens when we die
[But there's a lot going on aside from just berating Nagito. As the Monokumas close in, Ishimaru practically ends up dancing around to keep them from getting too close. Then he remembers he has his kendo sword on him attached to his back and quickly tries to draw it!]
You- you do continue to lose me with the way you speak of 'hope'! I want to be hopeful... Trust me, right now I'm hoping to be hopeful again with every fiber of my being! But this is... this is even more hopeless than I could have imagined!
well i wont let you die you deserve more than that
Why thank you
we'll put ur boxers on... idk... the schools flag

C-2: Boys' Life of Despair: Epilogue ( SDR2 SPOILERS )
Considering how amiable everyone is and successful for that matter, as well as how tired and stressed Nanami had began to feel. Overwhelmed as an AI... She felt it was right for her to sit this one out, and when Ishimaru held a funeral for her father. The father she was excited to learn about, know, and personally be able to tell them thank you for everything. Nanami felt herself in the inside, crashing about.
It was a strange feeling, the sort of thing like someone free falling but because of how neutral and observant she were as a person. It felt as if someone else were falling and she were just watching. Waiting for the fall to happen. Tears inevitably fell from her face, and she were not aware of it for that matter. When Ishimaru had finished speaking Nanami walked forward to say thank you. Their face still full of tears, her voice so calm and neutral about the ordeal. ]
Thank you.
no subject
It was... the least that I could do. When I could not protect him, or do anything else...! [He balls up a fist and sighs.] Of everything he deserves, this is the only thing that I can accomplish here and now.
[A burial. More than any of the Hope's Peak victims probably got. He only hopes that now, Chihiro can truly rest.]
no subject
[ Nanami asks softly, holding fast to the Monomi settled upon her chest. She holds it slightly a bit tighter pondering the short bit of memories she had with the person who helped bring her to life. It was unfortunate, and it hurt knowing that the other died the way that they had. Yet it made her glad knowing he had such wonderful friends, such as Ishimaru. ]
no subject
Our time together was... quite fleeting. We did not speak much, and I would not say that we became close, but... I like to think of us as friends regardless. In the end, I... care for him immensely. I suppose that it helps that the other spirit in this body also cares for him a great deal. [He winces.] But - that is complicated in itself.
no subject
[ Nanami doesn't question the validity or manner of complication in itself. The world around them were full of all sorts of ingested truths, that were both hard at times. Yet ever something of which were understanding, she did not question Ishimaru's statement. Nor looked appalled by it. ]
Thank you... For saying what you did. I wish I knew more about him.
no subject
[It makes the whole thing feel more heartbreaking. But also bittersweet in a way, that one family member of his still lives on. He wants to do what he can to comfort her, but he's not sure how. He just takes a step closer.]
I just tried to do my part for him. I... really wish I knew him better, too. My times with him, both here and at Hope's Peak, was so short. And... over before I knew it.

Oh... cute.
[ Hello bears ]
no subject
Even in his panicked state, he hears the comment from the other boy and shoots him a look.]
Wh-whart is so cute?! This is all horrible!
no subject
The bears... Sorry. I wonder if anybody's alive in there...
[ In the school, he means, which he starts trotting towards, because there is no police tape telling them to keep out and so his heart urges him to explore. ]
no subject
A-anybody... alive? There... that's right! There could still be survivors in there! You believe that?! [He never thought he could see the school as a shelter, but he supposes that it could act as one, compared to such a hellish exterior. But... could anyone still be alive? He thinks of Kirigiri, feeling fear and doubt. But he still wants to know... to examine that last hope.]
no subject
[ There could be. No matter how how slim a chance, there is always a chance, and that chance is what pulls him forward as he steps over the rubble and
pauses at the front gate, actually, finding a piece of that game that's been broken off and weighs enough in his hand that he could feasibly use it as a sword if needed, as long as he keeps a tight enough grip on it since there is no hilt guard. ]
What do you think caused this...?
[ This massive hole of a front door they're stepping though. ]
no subject
It would have to have been something massive. Some... kind of explosion, maybe. When I was trapped in this school, there was a steel vault door in place there. [They had tried everything to get it open, to no avail. So what could have removed it so totally?]

Where is this suppose to be, exactly?
[ His hand is on his sword. He is just wary of these things and just... hm. He doesn't like the way they look, that's all. If he has to defend his friend here, he will.
When it appears they aren't attacked he refuses to settle down just because he doesn't trust anything in this place, to be honest. ]
no subject
...Ah... Meng Yao-kun... Would you believe that this is my world, where I came from? But right now... it appears to- to be in ruin.
no subject
[ Honestly, he is more than a little peeved on Ishimaru's behalf, not even considering this as an authentic reality of his friend's world. He believes it to be another trick of this school, designed to drop more emotional turmoil if anything. ]
I'm not sure what to think of all this, then. Other than the fact it is a rather convincing illusion or set up of some kind.
Do you...want to head back? I doubt lingering around here will do us any good.
no subject
[He grips his fists as he clings to that belief. He wants to believe that once he finds a way out of Yogen, he can go back home and put both horrible schools behind him. There has to be a peaceful place waiting somewhere out there for him...! He can't accept his being that.]
It- it might be best to leave. If this isn't real, then there's nothing to be gained from it!
[Aside from further pain and suffering. But while they talk, several Monokumas move to block the elevator door, while dancing.]
no subject
...Well, it's at least an elaborate set up of some kind. There are enough strange phenomenon in a place like this. We should be a little cautious because of how this place affects us...
[ Out of the corner of his eye he notices the monokumas have blocked the elevator door and he 'tsks'. It seems they had inadvertently wasted too much time, which Meng Yao places the blame on himself, if anything. If he just started with simply ushering him out of here first then maybe things would've become less complicated.
Well, it's fine. He's not in an ideal position, but he does have his powers back. Still, he does want to be smart about this, and makes a 'come with me' hand gesture towards a spot nearby a building so they can chat. He's lowering his voice as he moves anyway to say: ]
...Ishimaru-xiong, it appears our exit has been blocked. How well do you know how to fight? Of course, if you're not, I think my approach will be much simpler on how to deal with them...
