So, why do you like sleeping outside like an animal, again... ?

[sisters]

"Like an animal," huh? That's pretty harsh.

( though, judging by his amusement as he looks over to her, he's not taking it too badly. instead, he'll glance back up at the sky, giving a soft "hmm." it's really not that deep anyway... )

It's just been a while since I was able to go outside. I would spend a lot of time camping, before, so I guess it feels kind of familiar?

( sure she heard at least one outdoorsy story in the sleepover batch. maybe he's just gotten too used to it. )

Animals like sleeping outside.

( she explains, matter-of-factly. outside is weird and dirty and windy, and there's bugs and gross stuff everywhere, and she doesn't really understand why amami's so hellbent on sleeping here, but she also misses him when he's not inside, so.

here they are. )

... why? ( stares. why would you camp a lot... love yourself. )

( she stares, he stares back. he tilts his head like he doesn't quite get it, but his smile says he's trying. )

Why was I camping? ( is what he thinks she's asking? ) I think I mentioned it, but I tend to travel a lot in my off time.

( and in time that probably isn't supposed to be off but who's gonna stop him if he only attends 20-30% of his classes. that's beside the point. )

Not all of the places I go to have fancy hotels, or locals who are willing to host a guest they've never met before, so it seemed like the natural thing to do.

Well, yeah, but... why? Traveling is supposed to be fun, right?

( and like... in her mind, if he goes places where there's no hotels, no luxury, no opportunity to rest and relax, then... what's the point, really? )

Why travel to some wild-ass jungles and struggle, when you can just book a hotel and relax? I don't geeeet it. ~

It is. ( fun, he means. he enjoys it a lot, actually. )

But there are things I need to do, and I can't do them if I only go where it's comfortable.

[contrarily]

Things you need to do?

( she brings her knees up, leaning her cheek on them, looking at him, curious. )

[sisters]

( the interest she has... it's cute. he can tell it's sincere. neither fact helps with the way his stomach turns. )

Family matters. Let's leave it at that.

( he breaks eye contact, taking in the view around them instead. )

Anyway, I guess I can take it to mean that you're not a big fan?

Hmmm...

( she hums, but doesn't push. it's his business, and she doesn't like it when people pry into hers, either, so...

to say she's not curious would be a lie, but whatever. he can tell her when he wants to. )

Not really. There's bugs, the ground is hard, and there's a creepy guy wandering around, and you know there is, even if you can't always see him!!

[sisters]

I mean, usually invisible people isn't such a big concern, but I get it.

( purposely avoiding repeating the word creepy just in case... hi kazuki... )

Lets work hard to get the dorms then, since the floor of the music room isn't exactly the most comfortable either.

[contrarily]

( god, she'd kill for a normal bed. she doesn't even realize how much she missed it until they're This Close to actually getting them back. )

Ugh, finally, a normal mattress... I better not see you sleep outside once we get them, y'know?! Appreciate my hard work!

[sisters]

( he can't help it, there's a bit of a laugh when he hears that. steals a peek at her expression to see if she's pouting or scolding him here. )

Don't worry, I'm as excited about getting beds back as you are. Camping's fine and all, but it's not like I'll choose it over a room to myself.
