dorm fundraiser log

Just for the weekend, the classrooms 3-A and 3-B have been transformed into a host club and a maid cafe, respectively. The students are free to come and go as they please, as well as bring their parents, siblings and whoever else to come help raise funds for the dorms. The promotional poster hangs on the wall between the classrooms, its' artist unknown and left uncredited.

CLASSROOM 3-A

Aka the temporary home of a maid cafe. Decorated mostly in golds and blues, just for today, the students can indulge the illusion of being a Master and having some semblance of control in their lives.

The cafe serves coffee, tea, placebo love potions that taste like strawberry soda, omurice donated by the cooking club with an option to request a message written in ketchup, and a variety of sweets, including baked goods prepared by the transfer students. Some of our cute maids include Kaede, Nene, Natsume, Noah, and, for a very brief time, Rika — though she quickly leaves to tend to the love spell booth. A little far off from that happens to be the kissing booth, ran by Subaru and Komaeda, as well as the charm-selling booth ran by Natsume. Any treats the students offered up for sale will be displayed on a makeshift menu written down on the chalkboard, with slightly-exaggerated prices, because this is a fundraiser and we can't have people skimp out.

CLASSROOM 3-B

Next up, the host club, with Lucifer, Sara, Hinata, Komaeda, Hajun, Gundham and Subaru working in shifts to appease the picky tastes of any students who feel like becoming a refined Ojou-sama.

Just like the Maid cafe, the Host club offers a variety of foods donated by the students, with an additional option to order an alcohol-less champagne, which is really just bubbly soda served in a champagne glass. But, you know, for the realism... A bit further into the classroom, you'll find Gundham's cartomancy booth, as well as Shuichi's lost & found booth. You're free to request as many hosts as you want for the occasion, and make them drink as much of the bubbly soda as you wish, all for a price, of course — and if someone's stomach starts to hurt, well... that's why they take turns!

HALLWAY

The festivities take part long before you enter either classroom, however...

Outside, you can find little Turing, who's all dressed up and eager to help and provide information about the boths, as well as our lovely Elizabeth, who, on top of making snow cones with her very fearsome persona, is offering quick-and-easy introductions for each maid and host, to make your choice that much simpler! Simply name whoever you're interested in, and you'll get to hear a witty line about them:

[ Love, fortune, protection... It would be selfish of him to want one of each just to complete the set since they've come so far, but. He only glances at the other charms and up at Komaeda and away, so he's not pushy about it, but.

While Komaeda telepathically receives his request for one of each, Hiro picks up a pen and mulls over what to write on his regret strip— and one for Maya too? She would kill him for airing out her regrets. But maybe it's fine because the only one who will see is Komaeda and these aren't signed and they'll be going up in flames anyways, so, in his horrid chickenscratch writing: ]

( hiro has to give him a sign that he wants to complete the set, so maybe if he waves his hand there, komaeda will see it — for now, he's going to look over hiro's shoulder to see what's being written. he wonders for a moment who is "him" and who is "her," and comes to that conclusion that's very vague. you know what's cute, because it's horrid chickenscratch and canonly komaeda supposedly has ugly handwriting, maybe he can read it. )

Who did you trust?

( not signed, but he can make a guess with a 50/50 chance... a gamble, but i always fail these, like those tiktoks that's like choose a color and i be like pink, and they pop the thing and it's purple. now, even though he posed his question, he can't really get an answer without hiro on the pda, so he could ignore him, but that doesn't stop komaeda from grabbing his own slip to write a regret. he has too many, so he goes with the one that stands out to him: )

[ Hiro ignores him, because he doesn't have a PDA to answer with, never mind all these blank slips of paper and writing utensils to write with. He pokes a finger at Komaeda's slip when he's done writing, and tilts his head to the side.

( wowwww! he'll look at his slip one last time, thinking back, and he'll poke a finger at his own slip as well as to mimic hiro's actions. )

...If I explain it, you might think I'm insane! How about... if I tell you mine, you tell me yours?

[ It's fine, because he already thinks Komaeda is insane. Hiro nods and points at him, you first. ]

Have you heard of it? The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History?

( to explain it from a hands perspective, he shapes out this rather large circle to portray as the world. )

It was destruction all over... the world became uninhabitable, it lacked people here and there... it was... truly a despairing place.

( he folds his arms in front of his chest, sighing as he looks down to the ground... there wasn't really any hope there, but he made do with what he had. that's why he understands himself as one of the many sinners. )

Such unfortunate events were started by... I bet you couldn't guess.

[ He bets it was Kouji.

But there's no good way to hand gesture that name, so he points to Komaeda as his second guess. ]

Someone like me start despair like that...

( he's shocked as he takes a step back, almost like he can't believe hiro would choose him of all people — and then he laughs softly to himself. it's not like he's wrong, actually, komaeda did play a hand in it as an ultimate despair — )

You must really hate me! No matter... her name is Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Fashionista... or better yet known as Ultimate Despair.

( that person has always given komaeda conflicted feelings — to despising despair, to loving her, to taking her arm in hopes that mixing himself with her despair would make him overcome it. there's a lot of twisted thoughts that go through his mind when it comes to that ultimate, well, the person that made him the way he is now. )

The world was ending, her along with the group she had by her side... continued to engulf the world in despair, fetishizing the idea of pain and destruction all for the sake of seeing the world burn even more. This is where... my regret comes into play.

( he crosses his arms, looking off to the side with a sullen expression. )

[ Oh. It's a good thing he didn't make a real bet, because the name doesn't strike him as familiar. The world he's talking about sort of does, but there are times when you're down enough that any normal everyday world feels like all it does is spur pain and destruction.

He's patient, though, not exactly looking at Komaeda but looking off to the same time as him until he's ready to continue. ]

( a complete 180 from how he was talking, especially with how he looks at hiro so that he can start his own story. there's nothing wrong with going back and forth, it's kind of like... how a person would watch despair side, and then watch hope side, then return to despair side to get the next part of the story. now hiro, start kibou hen, and then komaeda will continue. )

Do you need my PDA to start?

[ Hiro glances at Komaeda and away again, because, as expected, he didn't learn much of anything besides that there was a world full of despair at one point in time and Komaeda's regret is that he wasn't there. Komaeda's right. That does make him sound insane.

It's enough of an explanation though, for Hiro to uphold his part of the deal, so he nods and holds out his hand to receive the PDA. ]

( give him some credit, there's more to his story, he's just leaving it off on a cliffhanger! he'll explain after he hears a little about hiro, because isn't that fun... slowly learning about one another and revealing the climax of their regrets after hearing about one another no matter how small? he needs a moment though, he hasn't really talked about himself since his arrival... it's like how only about four people know he's an ultimate. )

Here... I'll finish explaining after you type a bit.

( so that hiro knows what to expect because komaeda saw how he looked away. he's going to pull out his pda and offer it to him. )

[ Do those four people believe he's an Ultimate, though

Hiro takes the PDA and starts to type his bit, poking at the screen with just his pointer finger and maybe he's not hitting the correct buttons but he's trying to be a good listener by looking at Komaeda, although the most he manages is fixing his gaze somewhere around Komaeda's right temple.

Continue the story and Hiro will turn the screen around to show Komaeda what he wrote and then he'll have to take it back and correct what he wrote and show him again. ]

( maybe two, or three.

this isn't how this works hiro, but komaeda isn't going to get his pda back no matter how long he stares at it. it's a rather simple story, besides, what hiro thought was extremely close. rather than not being there for despair, it's the opposite, really: )

He defeated the woman that I detested... a hero, a Symbol of Hope had taken care of her... and I was so unlucky, so busy with other things that I didn't get to witness it.

( he sighs. it's as simple as that, his regret being that he didn't watch hope overcome despair, and that's one of his many delights or reasons for living. so instead, he went out his way to assist his sister who lacked talent, was utterly boring, and had nothing going for herself in hopes to see what she could bring to the table, if her hope could shine brighter from being the weaker side backed against the corner. )

Someone who changed the world for the worst... defeated by a brilliant hope...

[ He listens and tries to understand but there's just so much missing context that he doesn't think he can. He's imagining a hero in a cap punching an old woman in a witch's hat and Komaeda being stuck at school so he couldn't be around to watch... or something.

Whatever he was trying gets deleted, rewritten, and turned around to show Komaeda ]

( it might be a little embarrassing for a grown man like komaeda, but he's pressing the tips of his fingers together like a girl with a high-school crush. he gets excited talking about hope, recognizing it, and considering that person is hope themselves — )

Makoto Naegi-kun! A true Symbol of Hope managed to defeat Ultimate Despair... he even possesses a talent that's greater than my own!

( his hands drop down by his side, smiling at the pda rather than at hiro. )

Have you heard of him?

[ Oh, he's doing that thing Kudo would always do back when she was alive. When Hiro thinks back on the name, he nods, because he remembers Naegi back when he was alive too. Most students don't. They move on. But for him... ]

( someone who started as nothing (to most), became hope, and then was able to trounce despair with the help of those around him. friendship is key! )

You should be honored that you got to meet someone so blinding...

( thinking about it, was it because he was able to meet him that he had such an abrupt disappearance. at least he's sure that he was here considering hiro's aware of him, and he's not even from komaeda's world. )

Despair may have ran rampant after the fact, but he along with those by his side were the start of purifying it. I wonder what expression he wore when he shot his final bullet, or what his last words may have been... influential, I'm sure.

[ There may have been less words and more screaming involved, but who knows, at this point? Having to think about Naegi's death only serves to make Hiro's gut twist, compounded by his regret he has to share and then he can get out of here before Maya catches him. ]

( you ever think about komaeda loves hope so much, and then to meet that hope, and then to learn that they're gone and or dead would fuck with his head. only because hope can never die and yet, yet... though, komaeda looks at it as they've met with him... had the chance to learn of his existence, and they should be happy with that.

reading the name first, it takes komaeda a moment to try and recall who that may be — his memory doesn't serve him too well, but he doubts asking "who" matters. it's more of the "what" that stands out. while they're at natsume's booth, he continues to look through the various charms for them to browse through, and he plucks a few more that he hadn't even acknowledged as they stand there. )

What was the plan?

( he chuckles, it's almost in disbelief considering at the time when he had his regret, he had a plan too that he admitted to naegi's sister. komaeda's plan failed, and he's guessing this one must have as well. )

[ Hiro gives him a weird look for laughing, but his eyes go back to follow the movement, watching Komaeda sift through the charms but even if they worked— they will work, he's seen Natsume's magic and it's legit— nothing on this table can salvage what he's done.

The who doesn't matter. The what... doesn't matter either, in Hiro's opinion. Like Komaeda guessed, it failed. ]

Why did you do your part?

( if the who and the what doesn't matter, maybe the why and the how may have more meaning than it. why did hiro feel compelled to save the school, how would he have done it? was it for certain people, or was it just to save himself? there's a lot he doesn't know about hiro, even now, they're at an odds when it comes to sharing information. broken in various parts that doesn't make sense, but perhaps it takes a little prodding, and komaeda's persistence.

he slides down a few he hasn't purchased, but since hiro seemed so willing to have the others... komaeda pulls out a few more pieces of currency to set down on the table. )

[ I can't believe he's being bribed with Natsume's charms but here he is, making sure there's two of each one before he returns his focus to the PDA in his hands. ]

[ Because he does what he can when somebody needs him, just like Maya does what she can, even if she sets up stricter limits than he does. ]

( he makes sure there's two since hiro has to have one for him, and done for her. he's sort of understanding that being with hiro means that he's also buying for maya...

Your purpose at the time to save the school... what were you supposed to do?

( he thinks about how that asks for information, and with a sigh after... bonds are important, especially if they thought there was something that could be done if they were together. )

Seki-kun must've trusted you, but if you regret listening to him...

[ Maya's not going to know what to do with any of this but she'll keep them only because Hiro gave them to her, otherwise the combination of being made by Natsume and bought by Komaeda would be more than enough reason for her to toss them into the bin when Hiro isn't looking.

Anyways, Hiro gives Komaeda a look, and then lets the PDA hang by his side as he balls his other hand into a loose fist and make stabbing motions at Komaeda's torso. ]
