There's a crash from downstairs, the sound of metal on metal as elevator doors are wrenched open on the ground floor and somebody steps out through them, barging out the door and leaving footprints of bright, wet red in their wake. They make their way past the lockers, past the remains of a laptop with its shattered screen and scattered keys, and grip the handles to the front doors.

The doors do not open. The handles will sooner snap off than budge— and snap off they do, tossed aside and sent clattering across the floor.

You can take it out. [He's just gonna do his self-indulgent thing of showing up as if summoned despite likely having been hiding and watching for a while. He's also going to come over and crouch by the laptop. Well and truly crunched...]

...What is it, exactly?

[ Anyway, he'll take the USB drive out carefully.

With the two hanging around here still, is there anything else besides the USB Drive and broken laptop? ]

There isn't anything else on the ground, but the laptop is on the ground next to a row of lockers, and if either of them look on top of the locker right next to it, they'll see that there's a clear rectangle where there is less dust than the rest of the space on top of the lockers, a set of pawprints leading towards the rectangle, and another set of pawprints that are less clear and more smeared that lead away from it.

[ Ah, hmmm...that sure is a sight that's being looked at right now. ]

A creature?

[ That's interesting. Do the pawprints/smears lead towards somewhere in particular presumably until they're up and gone? ]

The pawprints look like the creature scrambled to jump off the locker, on the opposite side of where the laptop lays, as opposed to the set of pawprints leading towards the locker which are spaced uniformly and travel down the length of the lockers like something had jumped up and approached this spot.

[ ...that really is odd. Assuming rectangle would fit the size of the laptop if it was resting there?

Also, are there any other things noticeable on top of the other lockers here - nearby the locker with the clear rectangle - besides things that have been previously noted? ]

If they try to match the laptop to the rectangle, they'll see that it'll fit— with half the laptop hanging over the side, with the center of mass right on the edge so that it's just barely balanced and liable to tip.

There isn't anything else notable! Unless either of them want to investigate anything more closely and ask questions about something, there isn't anything new to find.

[The realisation this guy doesn't know what a USB is: physically painful to Shin. Most agonizing revelation yet.]

It's a USB, i-it's for storing information... we'd be able to look at it using this laptop here if it wasn't broken. [He's gonna give the poor thing a nudge with the back of his hand.] I guess someone was using it to do that before it broke...

[He'll hold his hand out for the USB.] Here, let me have a look at it. If we can find another laptop... [If nothing else at the current moment he can at least see how many megabytes it can hold... also he Wants That Info.]

[ Sara has some sort of supernatural sense of timing for when Sou is in distress, because she arrived to check on her locker and instead sees...this. ]

Don't let him get started- [ An aside to Meng Yao. ] -He'll talk your ear off about computers.

Nanami has a laptop. Senku-san as well, I think? At least one of them should still be working...

[HOW DO YOU KEEP DOING THAT.]

When have I ever done that... Come on, miss Sara.

[He can have restraint! ...it's the tone of someone who knows it's true though. Listen, you need top of the line specs if you want to be taken seriously in this world. It's worth not eating for a week to get a new motherboard.]

...... Ah, Miss Nanami's was broken as well. [He was somewhat distracted by attempting to not be noticed during the whole LEGION GETTING STABBED thing but that's right, Komaeda just hucked it didn't he. Shin will remember this.] Which means it all hinges on if Senku has finished building his...

You did it. [ She says equally offhandedly. She isn't really directly thinking about how this Sou never lectured her to upgrade her hardware - this is just...something she knows about Sou's personality. He's a huge computer nerd. It makes sense, right?

Later she'll probably sit bolt upright in bed realizing that she messed up, but whatever. ]

Oh...poor Nanami...I hope she didn't have any games on her laptop. [ Sara leans down to look at the one on the floor. ] Mhm...You should hold onto it until he does, Sou. And...maybe don't tell anyone you found it.

[That little Your Turn To Die 'bling' noise is playing right now as he glances sidelong at her. That tiny little suspicion she'd so deftly roundhouse kicked into the horizon earlier just got enough fuel to come back to the fore. He knows he never did anything like that, and yet she's so confident about it.

Telling lies, Miss Sara? For now though... he's going to keep this in his back pocket.]

That goes without saying, doesn't it? [His previously somewhat buoyant mood has gone back to baseline.] ...that goes for you too as well. [Addressed to Meng Yao.]

My apologies, maybe we should keep walking.

[ Meng Yao hasn't handed off the USB but he'll move further away from whatever is going on with the Geth which is like...none of his business anyway.

Once they're at a good enough point away from potential danger or whoever else might be coming around to gawk at the Geth, he'll stop. Though he's keeping an eye on their surroundings, and will even check points to ensure they are not being watched or snooped on. Once he's able to confirm that, he comes back closer to Sou. Assuming he and the young lady followed him to this point anyway!! ]

Are we going to inform just Senku, then?

No need to apologize. I don't think we've met? I'm Sara.

[ Sara will follow, mostly because she wants to keep an eye on Sou and that sweet sweet USB. She gives Meng Yao a little wave when his attention turns back to the two of them. ]

That seems like a good first step, I think? I mean...just until we know its not something harmful, right? If its a clue, you two can bring it up at the next meeting.

Right, I'm Sou Hiyori.

[They're both following Meng Yao like cats that have seen someone walking around with a can opener. USBbbb...]

...we might have to ask Miss Nanami for the key if it's currently locked in the workshop. [Which means a risk of her wanting to know what they're doing.] Ah, we can just say it's for what Senku's working on if that's the case.

[ He'll first nod at what Sara says, and then after the introductions were made by both, he will give a small polite bow. Even in these circumstances, he won't forget his manners. ]

My name is Meng Yao.

[ Oh my goodness, you two. Well, they don't seem like they'd be bad cats at least...! ]

That's certainly true. I don't know her all that well but that may be enough to keep her from asking too many questions?

[They would be excellent cats.

Oh no he's being bowed to, this is more politeness than Sou was prepared to deal with. His bow back is brief and self-conscious.]

Miss Nanami is the sort of person who goes along with things.

[She helped him with his locker, but more importantly he saw her try to be Reasonable in a physical fight that was rapidly turning lethal. His impression of her as someone who prefers not to make a fuss is kind of unfair (especially since it would be different if it had worked), but it's good for them as far as he's concerned.]

With our trustworthy Miss Sara by our side I'm sure she can be convinced.

[Does he understand Sara's mysteriously high charisma? No. Is he willing to point it at obstacles? Absolutely yes.]
