There's a crash from downstairs, the sound of metal on metal as elevator doors are wrenched open on the ground floor and somebody steps out through them, barging out the door and leaving footprints of bright, wet red in their wake. They make their way past the lockers, past the remains of a laptop with its shattered screen and scattered keys, and grip the handles to the front doors.

The doors do not open. The handles will sooner snap off than budge— and snap off they do, tossed aside and sent clattering across the floor.

INVESTIGATION

The two locations available for investigation are 1) the elevator, and 2) the locker area. Please use the following form:

Action: Komaeda and Saihara's going to examine the doors of the elevator first by clicking the button to see if they open normally or not, what's going on here... what's the lore.

The elevator door opens like normal, smooth and slow like it would have for Legion if they weren't so impatient to get out, and the first thing that hits the two of them is the smell of fresh blood. There is not a lot— not splattered all over the walls like it had been when Hyde gutted Chihiro— but there are drag marks on the floor, and some smeared on the buttons.

When they walk in, Komaeda will chime Elizabeth's little quote "welcome to... the elevator", albeit wryly since... no one really wants to be here. Anyway, they'll check out the buttons on the elevator to figure out which are smeared! What are their lucky clicks... where did the body go, cotton eye joe.

Hey, some people use the elevator! The dorms probably could've been finished a long time ago if I hadn't promised Alice an elevator.

Anyways, it looks like the button that's smeared the most is... the one for the ground floor! As if the elevator were somewhere else, things got bloody, and then they went to the ground floor.

Crying nms is uh. Having some keyboard issues, she'll be back.

Can we assume the tracks look like someone walked in while blood-covered, pushed the ground floor button, then walked back out? (Is there blood on the doors too since they were forced open by presumably the same hands...)

If yes, they'll check the normal floors first to see if the trail continues on any of them -- and on that note, if any of the extra buttons/floors that weren't working before suddenly... decided to be available.

Yes, that's what it looks like! There is blood on the doors too and uh we'll say there's blood on Legion's hands that they may or may not have noticed since their hands are dark and hard to see.

The two of them go up each floor and see that there isn't any blood outside when the door opens, and no new buttons have started working either. There is... one last button... that doesn't go to a normal floor (:

ashgjk no listen maybe they pushed the button with their foot, I wouldn't stop them.

But that's what we thought... If nothing new works and the blood isn't on any normal floors, this must've happened in the red button somehow. Which can't really be checked, but they'll hit it just in case......

Also, is there anything else in the elevator that looking around while waiting in-between floors might reveal?

The elevator plummets.

In their minute of freefall, they will find a hairclip in the back corner of the of the elevator, clean and undamaged, but nothing else of note in the elevator until the minute is up and the doors slide open...

There aren't any opened/unlocked lockers that shouldn't be, and none of them look dented or otherwise like somebody had kicked them in to break the locks. At a glance, the major thing of note in the locker area is the broken laptop.

Well, speaking of which...

Is there anything else to note about the broken laptop in particular? Besides the fact the screen is shattered and the keys that went to it are having a time being separated from it. Nothing, for example, even hidden/accidentally tucked underneath or beside it?

The laptop seems standalone, but there's a USB flash drive still inserted to the side of it that seems to be intact.

Meng Yao kind of just pauses, looking at the USB flash drive. It's clear he looks a little befuddled as he reaches for it, but sort of hesitates, as if he's unsure how to handle this. If only because he's not sure what to do with such technology.

This is what happens when you live in ancient times!!

You can take it out. [He's just gonna do his self-indulgent thing of showing up as if summoned despite likely having been hiding and watching for a while. He's also going to come over and crouch by the laptop. Well and truly crunched...]

With the two hanging around here still, is there anything else besides the USB Drive and broken laptop? ]

There isn't anything else on the ground, but the laptop is on the ground next to a row of lockers, and if either of them look on top of the locker right next to it, they'll see that there's a clear rectangle where there is less dust than the rest of the space on top of the lockers, a set of pawprints leading towards the rectangle, and another set of pawprints that are less clear and more smeared that lead away from it.

It starts as a whisper among their programs, and builds into a scream.

They tried to return to their world, destroyed by the Old-Machines, but an obstacle had prevented them. They will not tolerate further intervention.

They head, instead, for the doors.

Even with all of their strength, they cannot move the handles. Instead the metal twists, then snaps beneath the tremoundous strength of their long, almost delicate looking fingers.

They s̵̲̝̀̈́͋c̶̥̜͔̔́͠ṟ̵̤̥̌e̷̡̡̎̿ä̶̪̰͓m̷̙͑̄, and hurl themselves against the doors.)

Despite the path of destruction left in their wake Add walks up calmly like he would on any other day, sipping at a can of coffee. There is, of course, still a reasonable distance left between them—even on a good day he knows he's only just barely tolerated, after all.]

What has you all worked up...? You know breaking through isn't that easy.

has consumed them, and Add's words are not understood. Instead, they recognize him as a potential enemy, and make a low, threatening growl of warning before slamming into the door again. And again. Their eye light sputters, and one of their headflaps begins to spasm as white blood drips from their face.

Again, they step back and prepare to smash themselves against the door.)

[He hums, his neutral expression shifting into something more akin to a frown. He dislikes the idea of a machine he's interested in destroying themselves... and besides, it's highly unusual of Legion to act like this. Peculiar. He wants to know why it's happening.

He takes another swig of his coffee, then places the can somewhere on the floor and slightly out of the way. This could get messy. He'll probably want that later.

Then, he begins to close the gap. Slow and cautiously. His voice elicited a response, even if it wasn't much, so negotiation hasn't been completely ruled out. That said... he also reaches for something inside his jacket, gripping it firmly while keeping it hidden. Just in case.]

You're displaying erratic behaviour. System malfunction, malicious attack, or something else? If you're capable of responding, I suggest you do so now. Continuing this action is both self-destructive and futile. It would be irresponsible of me as a Nasod researcher to allow it to continue.

(He is attempting to trap them!

They whip around with a nails on chalkboard screech and swing their fist. It's a panicked attack, not a malicious one; this is fortunate, as it means that it's not targeted to cause maximum pain or damage, just a wild swing with a whole lot of force.)

[Add ducks back and out of the way, using his smaller frame to his advantage. Wild swing or not, he's not exactly keen to get hit by that.

Welp, negotiations can be ruled out at least. On to plan B—in the moment where Legion is recovering from their attack, Add whips out the megaphone-shaped hacking gun hidden in his coat. He's only seen this thing work maybe once, and it didn't do shit to the vending machines a minute ago, but here's hoping the results are different this time around. He points it at Legion and pulls the trigger, firing a single pink "bullet" at their chest.

Dance for him while he comes up with a real plan.]

(Possessed and confused, they attempt to throw up their sheilds, despite no longer having access to this ability.

The bullet hits them and they freeze, then shudder, then spasm violently. Their eye flickers, briefly going back to its usual calm blue as they begin a few stuttering motions of a dance people from more typical Earth type settings might recognize as the robot, except in this case it's more like the badly broken robot that clearly has something wrong with its programming.

The light sputters back to that eerie yellow hue, and their next start and stop movement is punctuated with a kick.)

[Alas, Add cannot fully appreciate Legion dancing the robot... he does relax a little, though, once the eye flicks back to normal. Come to think of it, yellow eyes have been a sign of something notable in the past, haven't they...?

While Legion is busy showing off their moves, Add fiddles with the settings on the gun. It has some other features, right? It's not his gun so he only has half a clue how it works, but whatever, he's switching to the detect bullet to try and scan Legion with the light cone in case something turns up—

unfortunately, this decision leaves him open when the geth breaks out of the dance-induced stun much quicker than anticipated. Add manages to swing the gun out of harm's way in time, but the rest of his body... not so much. He takes that kick square in the chest, the hacking gun flying out of his hands and skidding into the hallway, out of reach. Add staggers back towards the lockers, temporarily winded.]
