[Spared for now... small but big mercies.

But Hinata makes a surprised noise; maybe it should have with how sick of being trapped he is, but the thought of using the tents to sleep outside hadn't even crossed his mind.]

Oh, you're... planning on staying out there? You're thinking a lot bigger than me. [He laughs, even if there's something a little wistful in it.] I'm happy for you, it's better than being stuck in here for longer than you have to.

[Hinata kind of want to asks if he can also...

Well. It's fine, that'd probably be intruding anyway. He is glad for Amami, at least somebody he cares about can get a little freedom.]

Oh man, you make it sound like I'm leaving you behind to fend for yourself in here.

( amami out here feeling like hinata's his sad, wistful parent saying goodbye to a child leaving the nest for the first time before they go out to camp in the backyard or something. just a little bit much for the situation, and his grin looks all the more sheepish for it. )

I'm not taking some grand trip or anything, I just noticed you guys didn't seem to be using it. If you really think it's that much better, why don't you come with?

( rika was happy to invite herself along earlier in the month — a handful of times, really, and amami can't say he'd mind the company. how many people did this tent fit? seven? looks at hinata expectantly. )

[Hinata's eyes go wide; maybe part of him should've been expecting it, but the invitation still catches him off guard.]

You'd... be okay with me coming too?

[Spending a night or two outside, camping with friends- at least, Hinata thinks they're friends. He likes Amami and enjoys being around him, and Amami helped him to think things through when his heart felt too tattered to make any good decisions. It sounds nice, sounds normal - for once, in this school where it is so often the opposite.]

If you'll have me, then... Yeah. I'd love to come with. I haven't gone camping since elementary school.

[Just for school, never with his family or anything. He doesn't remember it especially well, but it had been fun, he thinks.]

'Course I would. It's just as much your tent as it is mine.

( actually, maybe a little more hinata's than his, considering how long they've been here. technicalities. he's just happy about the company, to be honest, offering up an easygoing smile to go with his words. )

We can call it club activities — pretty sure we haven't done much of those, and it'd be a shame if the student council shut us down for wasting resources.

( which, they kind of are, by the school's definition. they're leeches. that's not the point though; amami knows and likes and has enough experience with actual outdoor survival that they can probably fake it 'til they make it as long as he's got a couple of the others willing to play along. )

I... guess that's true. [Even if he barely feels like he does much outside of filtering out the water.] It feels like we don't use a lot besides the sleeping bags, so it's better that we'll put it to good use.

[Hinata stops walking in front of the locker, waiting off to the side of it so he can help offload what's inside whenever Amami is ready to unlock it.]

One of these days we really should do a bigger club activity... Maybe even something the rest of the students could get in on, if they wanted to. Things like tying knots or how to set up a campfire...

[And it could be good practice if they ever have a cultural festival.]

( listen, the water filtering is important! amami, for one, was glad when he figured out they were already doing that — even if, really, it's the boiling that's most important at this point. anyhow, hinata's got the right idea as far as he's concerned, and he'll give a bit of a thoughtful hum as he considers the ideas. actually, here's about the time that he'll start making his way over to the club's closet, too. might as well grab the tent and all that while they talk. )

How about one of those rock climbing walls? That's a pretty outdoorsy thing to do, and I think they had those even back in the nineties.

( not sure what kind of places they've got them at, but surely amami's practiced on them before. which, actually — )

Well, actual rock climbing doesn't really feel that easy, but it's good practice anyway. Gets you used to being high up.
