Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

( the obvious answer when he talks to npc-kun, because in that way, he's more useful than some people here. it doesn't bother him, because in the end what matters is their hope, not their greed. )

I'm not interested in making something I don't want, but is there a way... in the school, we only have merit points.

( tell him the hidden secret lore, is there something on his pda he can use to get real money? he's willing to look into it... )

The merit point system has no bearing on the outside world, only as an incentive by the school.

[ Like how the charity auction functioned, rewarding good students with items and services they can buy, and encouraging poorer students to work harder so they can better enjoy the auction the next year.

The exchange only works an entity— school or person— with a lot of money and need for points, and they are not that person. ]

I'm not a student. I'll take merit points, but I can't use them directly. I can only use them for the sake of somebody else.

Hm... you must have a lot saved up, so it doesn't matter if a bit goes missing.

( yeah, that's how that works. )

What are you going to use them on for me?

( as if this is about him now, and that npc-kun has enough merit points to splurge on komaeda. most of the time, he'd think he wasn't good enough to have anything, but he doesn't really care at the moment. )

No you can't have any, they're mine.

[ They're not in the business of giving things away for free!! or giving people presents or doing anything out of the goodness of their heart, there's an image they're trying to maintain and Komaeda won't sway them. ]

[commences]

( wow! why won't they share they probably have so much, and here they are acting as if komaeda doesn't deserve anything! yet, npc-kun has been a little tapeworm on him the entire time. )

( he's quiet now, maybe it's his turn on the silent treatment box. )

npc-kun takes the gas mask and puts it on Komaeda's head. ]

komaeda sighs, his hand still on their head so he doesn't even try to stop it. )

You're supposed to borrow this, maybe you can wear it on Halloween.

( that's why he's lending it to them! )

How am I supposed to get candy if I scare away all the candy givers?

[ Without moving from where they are, they reach around Komaeda's head and tries to tighten the straps without being able to see clearly and so they're not quite as gentle with Komaeda's hair as he was to theirs. ]

[commences]

...? Are you not going to dress up this year?

( why are they doing this? which komaeda lets them do, and he doesn't mind the tightness, it's nothing compared to the poison that forced itself down his throat, closing it as the tape muffled any air to escape. the tightness in his chest, the way his heart was loud and audible in his ears — )

It's dark.

I don't know. I've never had a reason to.

[ Play dress up, go around begging for candy, they're not sure that's what they want to do. Dressing up other people is kind of fun, though... except when they lean back to survey their work, the gas mask is actually pretty scary still and they wish they didn't give it back. ]

[commences]

Halloween, you'll be with me for the second half.

( the first half he'll probably have plans, but he doesn't mind taking someone trick 'o treating. komaeda's used to the gas mask, so he can't see the way npc-kun is judging their work, but he'll wait for them to get off of him, and he'll lean up finally after laying on the floor so so long.

but he's just sitting there.

[ ?

npc-kun crouches in front of Komaed and extends their arm, not like they were offering to help him stand. ]

[commences]

( he holds their arm, yanking it a bit. )

This one doesn't come off, where my arm?

[adsum]

[ It can come off, if Komaeda pulls hard enough, but they're going to take it back before he does. ]

Oh... I put it behind the counter so the ghost couldn't take it.

[commences]

...Can I have my arm?

( stop, their arm is too small for komaeda, he already has to take add's arm when it comes off. why does no one have a stylish junko arm for him to have... like the old days. )

I'll wait here.

[adsum]

You're not going to come with me?

[ But the hallway is dark ]

[commences]

I can't see, the mask makes it hard. I'm better off until you come back.

( it's extra dark with the gas mask... )

[adsum]

[ No. He's not going to make them walk down a dark hallway by themselves. And then walk back through the dark hallway to Komaeda. And then down a third time to get back to the store with him and THAT'S BULLSHIT HAVING TWO ARMS DON'T MAKE THE DARK GO AWAY ]

You don't need to see. You have me.

[ To latch onto his arm and pull him forward and pray with all their heart and soul that this one doesn't fall off too. ]

[commences]

( they'll never know if they don't try, and besides, maybe the arm has a flashlight. yama did say that hinata wouldn't make a second rate arm, so it has to have the universal necessities like the complimentary horror flashlight for in the dark.

... )

Do I? I didn't expect such warmth and kindness after being attacked, but I wouldn't complain... that was a hopeful situation!

( being beat until he bled and had to lick his lips from it spilling, and then god know how his head is going to feel later. )

Up we go! ( he stands up rather well, only because he sat down on purpose just to see if the other would do something. ) Whoo! You did it! So strong!

[ They look confused for a moment, but then breaks out into a grin, because yeah! They did it! They're very strong! Very much immediately latching to Komaeda's arm. ]

Hehe... You should be honored to bask in my warmth and kindness. I'm going to walk you all the way down the hall so you don't get lost.

[commences]

( they're allowed to have his arm, and he won't try to take it away, instead he waves his nub to make sure that his sleeve doesn't get caught on anything as they walk together. )

Is there anyone else you treat like this, it's almost like you have no faith in me...

( his voice muffled by the gas mask, and he looks around in the smudged darkness that he can't make out. complete darkness, but there's someone else here with him, and he's surprised... normally they wouldn't trust komaeda like this. he's a murderer, so they think negatively enough. )

[ Sometimes people are murderers... The most important thing to them is the knowledge that is that they're cute, and so nobody would ever dare kill them, and therefore they're safe.

Besides, they beat a ghost. Nobody will dare mess with them. ]

Aniki used to let me... But here, I'm a shopkeeper and shopkeepers aren't supposed to do this with their customers.
