ethics...club...

Who: the ethics club and whoever wants to crash their party
When: whenever in august!
What: just a mingle post for the disasters
Warnings: uhhh...........well there's a bunch of problematic people here probably, so we'll see how this goes. will update.

The "ethics" club isn't really that well furnished so far. So far, there's only a few things -- things that only Josh is able to access, as well as a dart board, a cheap (and faulty) polygraph machine, and a button maker?

Well, the other members will have to make those. But he does have a certain design for it, if someone was interested in ""helping"" him make the pins...

Otherwise, Joshua's probably usually in here, in classroom 2-D, and he won't turn anyone away. He might warn of anyone coming in of their eccentric group, but he doesn't really mind either way.

But there are papers spread around, not that he really wants to do the work of ensuring that his club stays open, but he figures there's no use in just ignoring it. So there's probably going to be some reports to go through on the papers, or something that could be defined as work.

Loosely.

There's a folder on the desk he'd moved next to the door which holds the topic of the month on it for whoever comes into the room:

good and evil: how do you spot the difference? Do those lines truly exist?

He's very interested in what people would say about it.

Excuse me, are you building something?

[her voice is softer, trying to not terribly intrude on his work. but it's the scent of oiled machinery that caught her interest - that and Add's words. while she's no expert, hanging around Senku enough as he built the program and other memories make it more understandable. just a little.]

If you're trying to make a shock device, I have to wonder how that connects with ethics.

[he's trying to put the device back together right now, with a few "improvements" that need testing. he may have overestimated the space inside the casing, though... he can't quite fit it all back inside. it's unclear if it's that or Helena's words that annoy him when he scrunches his nose.]

Ethics...? Who said anything about that?

[... he literally does not even know the name of the club he just joined, but it's fine. he only stayed because he saw something interesting.]

...This is the ethics club, is it not? I've been told by several that it is.

[but now she's a little more uncertain.]

I was merely wondering if it was a club project. Something akin to how people will react when dosed with pain or the like.
subtract: don't tell me what direction you think I should take (Y-0197)

Hmm... yes, an experiment like that might be amusing. To know the pain thresholds of certain individuals...

[he trails off into ominous mumbling. he's already got a lot of experience with electrical torture, but hey, who says he can't recalibrate that data to Yogen's student population? what if he ever needs to interrogate someone??]

Not a bad idea. What else do you think it could be used for?

[well, amusing wasn't her intention, but...]

Self defense is the next possibility to come to mind. I have a friend who has a way to store electricity and then release it around himself. Should he need to, he can stun anyone near him, and get away from being too close. Your device...would it be able to give off such a discharge?

[well

that actually gets Add to stop what he's doing and look over at her for the first time. his expression is difficult to read... but he's not annoyed. he stares for a moment before looking off to the side, twirling a screwdriver in his hand.]

A device like this wouldn't be practical for that purpose. Too stationary... something more compact, wearable, or a high-mobility drone would be more effective. But I've already created such an invention before. It wouldn't be difficult to recreate some of those functions...

This "friend" of yours... what does he use to create this discharge? A device? [if it's magic and not cool tech he'll be disappointed]

I'm not certain entirely. Sometimes it seems almost like he has a method to store it within his own body - but he's an inventor. It's very possible he has a small device on him.

[or he's just built different. but that's weird to say.]
subtract: and I can't remembering caring for an hour or so (Y-0286)

[an inventor. his eyes might be sparkling... too bad she can't see]

Kukukuku... how very fascinating. I'd like to meet this inventor.

[but for now he reaches into his jacket, fishing something out of one of the larger pockets—it's slapped together with 90's junk and whatever else he could scavenge from the robotics club, but there are prongs on one end and they light up with a loud snap of electricity when he hits the switch. hell yeah he's already put together a taser.]

Electronic device for self-defense, capable of stunning a target at close range. If you're interested... I suppose I might be able to make another, kek. But I don't offer my services for free.

[she can hear it, and thankfully it's not too close or she'd have to back away into a table. but there's more she can tell about his voice, his word choice, enough to keep him happy but also further her own interest.]

Right now, I think it's better in your hands than mine. But to have made a device like that, and with what you're trying to do now - are you what they call a genius with machines?

[carefully, carefully moving in the direction to flatter pride. even if he laughs a little like one would think a mad scientist was, there are ways to stay on their better sides.]
subtract: you hear the voices crying (Y-0330)

[personal profile] subtract 2021-08-31 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[he flicks off the taser, placing it down on the table next to the partially-reconstructed lie detector.]

Oh? You must have a good eye for these things. [haha] Yes... some would call me a "genius". Machines like these are a rarity in my world, so knowledge of them is equally uncommon. There are few in Elrios who can even come close to my level of understanding.

[and he sounds anything but humble about it. yeah, it's not hard to butter Add up with compliments. praise him more.]
