Who: the ethics club and whoever wants to crash their party
When: whenever in august!
What: just a mingle post for the disasters
Warnings: uhhh...........well there's a bunch of problematic people here probably, so we'll see how this goes. will update.

The "ethics" club isn't really that well furnished so far. So far, there's only a few things -- things that only Josh is able to access, as well as a dart board, a cheap (and faulty) polygraph machine, and a button maker?

Well, the other members will have to make those. But he does have a certain design for it, if someone was interested in ""helping"" him make the pins...

Otherwise, Joshua's probably usually in here, in classroom 2-D, and he won't turn anyone away. He might warn of anyone coming in of their eccentric group, but he doesn't really mind either way.

But there are papers spread around, not that he really wants to do the work of ensuring that his club stays open, but he figures there's no use in just ignoring it. So there's probably going to be some reports to go through on the papers, or something that could be defined as work.

There's a folder on the desk he'd moved next to the door which holds the topic of the month on it for whoever comes into the room:

good and evil: how do you spot the difference? Do those lines truly exist?

He's very interested in what people would say about it.

[the darts remain untouched, for now. in her neat script, the notecard reads:

1. Is there anyone here who you could never bring yourself to kill?
2. Describe what the people in this room are to you in one word.
3. What was your mom like?]

( he does a pretty good job on his first dart, as he throws it, he snipes one of the questions on the board. getting up, he runs over to retrieve which folded piece it may have been and... d20 dice gave me number 3. he unfolds it, reading the question, and he hums in thought as he wonders what type of question is this...

he walks back over to his table, and with different notecard he starts to write something down. he stops every so often, looking down at what he's written, then erasing, and writing again. after he's done, he gets up from his desk to walk over to stephanie, and he sets down both her question and the answer.

she was an outstanding parent is what i heard people say, she never complimented me, so i had to think about my appearance for myself. that was useful, this sense of style is really different, right? she was kind enough to take me with her traveling, but didn't want me to say too much, sometimes she'd just tell me not to talk at all. i think her and my father were really happy, i don't really remember much about her aside from our last trip together when i was younger.

he places that down, and then walks back over to his desk to sit down.

on the dartboard are komaeda's questions if stephanie manages to dart one — or get anywhere close, komaeda won't call that cheating.

["if she manages" as if she couldn't hit that dart board dead center from thirty feet away.

if she could read them, she'd be able to pick her favorite. as it is, she hits 2, and then just kinda. doesn't move.

still behind the book, she clears her throat loudly. delivery, pls.]

( you're right, stephanie is a superhero, this is child's play to her. he gets up from his chair again, walking over tp pluck the dart and the question from the board. next he makes his way to her table, sets both the dart and slip of paper down in front of the book, before walking back over to his desk. )

( he already forgot which question is which, so he guesses he'll see the answer once she writes. )

[is the extended heavy sigh once she reads it any hint.

about five minutes later, she slips a piece of paper from under the book. when he picks it up, it will read:

There isn't any ideal death. Maybe being old and surrounded by your loved ones, and even that isn't great, because you're still dead after.

Maybe if I didn't know how it happened. Knowing seems to cause people problems. But, maybe not knowing would be worse?

I never had to think about these things before I came here.]

( maybe this is what he was expecting from her, the fact that anyone dies at the end doesn't settle well with her. pleasing someone through death is hard, but finding one that they're comfortable to see through is harder — some people don't want to die, and others die in a way that they hate. he thought maybe he could get some insight on stephanie's preferred method, after all.

still, she lives in a world where the worst thing she ever had was an argument. he pockets the note, making his way back to his table to throw his own dart. rolled the die, and his question will be... a bit of scribbling, and he writes his answer:

they're not here.

he takes one hand to reach out, grabbing stephanie's book to place down onto the table properly, and he sits his reply in between the pages as he looks at her. is there anyone here he wouldn't kill? he isn't sure what stephanie needs that information for, maybe trying to learn whether komaeda is heartless or not.

he smiles softly before leaving from the table to sit back down. she can take that answer any way that she wants, this is komaeda that she's speaking to. )

[upon reading it, she makes an irritated noise, quickly scratches out a note, and pushes it back.

That's not the question. HERE. Yes or no.

and she helpfully leaves a "YES" and "NO" for his convenience.]

( oh...

why?

simple, to the point, and he doesn't circle either of the helpful answers that she wrote down for him.

he's not trying to be difficult at least. )

[underneath his question:

I want an answer.

that's what he said to ask. questions you want an answer to.]

( this must be something serious? hm, how does he go about this. someone here... he could break this down, use the room as an example of someone "here", and say she never limited it to everyone in the school, but that's cheating.

i don't kill, just to kill...
right now, there's no one i'd kill.

now if she mentions hope, that's a different story. )

[the sound of a pencil tapping violently for a solid thirty seconds.

and then, added on after the end of his, she writes: for "hope?"

actually writing out the verbal quotation marks she always gives that word when she talks with him.]

( is she... frustrated? he can't really tell, but something about this conversation worries him about her. she should know better than anyone else that when it comes to hope, komaeda would kill, but to be asked if there's someone he wouldn't kill... even if hope was on the line... )

...

( he smiles, taking the pencil from her so he can reply: do you need me to help you kill someone? a death that'll help build your hope... i can hear you out. you shouldn't let my feelings get in the way of your success. )

[SLAMS BOOK DOWN FLAT]

Just say "no," then! If the answer is "no," then say it!

Stephanie... What's wrong?

( they were playing a pretty nice game, did something happen? or is she disappointed in komaeda already, maybe he shouldn't have beat around the bush, but at least she's talking to him.

even though he started the game. )

I meant it when I said they aren't here.

( it is summer break... )

Which makes the answer "no!" [/patently unaware of the greater rokkun lore and assumes he's talking about some Ultimate back home he wants to be an end table for.

huffs.] I almost wish you guys were in here doing murders instead of practicing not giving real answers to questions.

( what about hinata, he may not be god mode right now, but!! this is kind of about him too, but she's right, he does miss his version of hinata back home... who is also not here right now... their hinata has to grow up a bit more... this is complicated.

It's rhetorical. I'd do anything for hope, even if it means losing someone I care about. Is that what you want me to say?

( it's probably a bit lonely to say that, but he seems fine. he's enjoying the conversation. )

[she leans back in her chair a little, frowning.] Is that really what you're calling it? I thought it was a joke. It is a joke, right?

I see no reason to lie when it comes to hope, there's not one person who doesn't make a proper stepping stone... But, if you're ever interested in making your own for the group's hope...!

( he places a hand to his chest, genuine about this as he looks towards her. as long as it's for hope, he can make the necessary sacrifices, he'd even become one himself... not a day goes by that he doesn't think about taking his turn to help the group move forward. that sounds like the best outcome for him anyway. )

It's not a joke, I really do believe he needs a friend here.

( and he points to shin in his shrimp posture making buttons, just look at him stephanie. he needs something. )

[flatly] No, I am not planning on murdering or being murdered, thank you. Trust me. You'll be the first to know if that ever changes.

[there's a moment where her brain wonders why that sounded vaguely like a threat, but, she shakes it off.

frowns.] I get why the crazy murder people are here with you. I expected them to be here. Nobody else makes much sense, though. [pause] That's a good reason to answer my last question. But, that means you answered three for me, and I only answered one for you. That's not really fair.

...? Do you trust me when it comes to that. I understand hope is difficult for you to understand, but I'd take my time.

( explaining it to her when she's dead, staying by her body and breaking down the idea of it. waiting to be caught for his crime because he would have promised her he wouldn't leave her alone. it'll just be a conversation between him, her, and their hope until it's shared to the world.

that's what it would be like, he would give her that. )

Crazy murder people...? That's pretty rude, they haven't done anything. You should get to know them, at least.

( ...her last question? well, he's going to get up from his seat to pluck the last set of her question off of the board to read it himself. he laughs, nodding his head, as he also takes his last two questions to bring over to stephanie. )

That means I won the game, ahaha.

... I guess? [while not even vaguely understanding what he's getting at. it's most important that he knows she trusts him, she thinks.]

When people are crazy and do murders, what else are you supposed to call them? You knew exactly who I meant. [begins reading over the other questions.] And it's not really the kind of game you wi...

[she glances up at him.]

This one isn't even a question. What were you planning on doing if I covered my eyes? [because that is "tricking you into opening your hand and putting a live spider in it" talk if she's ever heard it. and she's heard it a lot.]

I'm taking a guess that when you expected them to be here, you were referring to those in this room... It was more context clues, but...

( there's a mix bag of people in here with amami, helena and shin if stephanie ever catches them in here. they could balance out the room, but some of them visit to see others, and aren't really part of the group like stephanie. )

You'll have to do it to see, that's how you answer that question.

( she doesn't expect him to answer four, right? one especially being his own request. )

Well, I figured that Dito and Add and Josh would be here. [including the latter might be unfair but josh is on her shitlist so she doesn't care.] And you have some kind of... weird peer pressure thing going on with Crona. Anyone else is just... I don't know.

[she doesn't know how to say "I'm surprised Helena can stand to be in a room with you" in a nice way, so she doesn't say it.]

Hm... [she turns the papers over in her hand.] I wanna protect everybody here, 'cause we're all in the same boat, but Hiro... He just seems like he needs it more. I've never been excited for summer break to end.

[she misses him a whole lot, okay. and then, after a brief moment of consideration... she puts her hands over her eyes. no peeking.]

Kiryu-kun is the one who owns this club, don't you think he's creative enough to handle most of everyone who comes here?

( THE NAMEDROPS. he pauses, cants his head to the side as he tries to drink in the information she's feeding him, and he can't help but laugh at the bit about crona. is that how she views their relationship that komaeda is molding them to be this way? )

That breaks my heart you believe that Crona-san is being peer pressured, this is what they want... and who am I to deny them that...

( he sighs, crossing his arms like he's been accused for something that he doesn't think is right. he won't cause a fuss, and instead he watches her, curious what she has to next. )

Are you afraid of what may happen to him... His hope makes me curious, for someone who doesn't speak, he must know so much, and can only give so little... ( as she covers her eyes, komaeda proceeds to dig something out of his pocket, a certain charm that he sits in front of stephanie. ) That boy he stabbed... it was organized from the start.

( because when it came to hiro, stephanie had always worried about him, fretted over his survival — when there was a chance that he could have killed aiko, she was the person who supported him, wanting to know the truth, and there were others who.. condemned him. )
