April mini-event

On Tuesday, after classes are long over and clubs just about wrapping up, those studying inside the library may notice black smoke start to fill the room. With the lack of sound, the library relies on flashing strobe lights to alert students of an emergency and the librarian with her piercing stare and domineering presence to order students to pack and leave IMMEDIATELY. The longer one lingers inside the library, the greater the sense of dread builds inside of them until they're unable to resist the student council members who have come to escort the last of the stragglers out, physically if need be.
Outside of the library, gathering students speculate about what happened, whether there was a fire, what were they planning to burn, maybe they were trying to get back at the librarian— who looks positively livid, by the way, and maybe staying clear of the library for several days until she cools off isn't a bad idea, although students will have no choice as the student council members standing guard at the door prevent anybody from reentering the library until it is deemed safe.
The library is closed for the rest of the week, and a sign on the door states that it will reopen on Monday the 19th.

Around half an hour after midnight, those sleeping on the third floor in or near the second year classrooms may feel the ground shudder beneath them. They, uh, may actually want to relocate very soon, because water bursts out of the bathroom and floods the entire floor with very cold, light pink water.
Is that a finger floating down the hall? Yeah... yeah.
By the time the first of the faculty arrives at six in the morning, the entire third floor is flooded, and water has traveled down the stairwell to the lower floors as well, although there isn't as much water as one would think, as if something more is blocking the pipes and preventing all the water from rushing out of the burst pipe at once. The water is shut off for the rest of the day so repairs can be done and the floors mopped down and dried, with the second and third years relocated to the club rooms and auditorium for classes, and the bathroom by 2-D is closed for repairs until Monday the 19th.
When the water is turned on again at the end of the day, it is still very very faintly tinged pink.

Considering that it's the middle of the night and most people, if they need to sleep, are doing so, it may be a while before anybody wanders into the auditorium. When they do, they're stricken with a bout of vertigo that passes almost as soon as it starts, and they may notice a body on the ground in front of the largest glass case in the back of the room. As in, the body inside the case is still there, and now there is a second body lying on the ground in front of it in a pool of dark red blood. A charming little note has been stuck to the front of the body's uniform, and a fluffy white cat runs out of the room while a skinny black cat peers at whoever is there from behind the large glass case.
Whether the people who initially discover the body decide to look for clues first or go wake and gather everybody to bring to the auditorium, they should be aware that the other students and faculty will be arriving in just a little over two hours. What are y'all going to do!!! You tell me.

Whether the body is left or moved, though, a missing student quickly becomes obvious, and the assistant principal orders a school assembly in the auditorium on Monday the 19th, looking very pale and slightly sick, which may or may not be due to the presence of a ...very realistic """doll""" on display in a glass case behind her. She announces that the student council president has passed away, and that students who report information regarding the situation to the faculty will receive merit points for their assistance, and whoever can provide indisputable proof of what happened and who was involved will receive 300 merit points, enough to put them well above even the best of students.
She also brings up the destruction in the library the other day, and how the pipes had burst overnight, and how the ceiling tiles seem to have been falling in places and have led the janitor to discover rats in the walls. Since the school will be closed over spring break, she will be having repairmen do extensive repairs on the school, including a very thorough fumigation to ensure no rats or bugs or anything of the sort left inside the school will come out of spring break alive.
Be good! Be safe! You are all dismissed.

OOC
- ✽ Please note that silence is strictly enforced in the library at all hours, and in the rest of the school from midnight to 6 AM. Although the library and the bathroom by 2-D are closed until the 19th, the doors are not locked and both rooms are accessible for investigation when the npcs are not present.
- ✽
- ✽ Please use the toplevels below for investigations, and the post itself to discuss amongst yourselves who the culprit may be. There is no deadline for solving this murder, but the solution will net 300 points to one character who reports it to the faculty and will guarantee you the winning bid on the body in the glass case.

Investigation: The..... finger. I can't believe this.
Time: 4/16, idk sometime not "asshole hours" in the morning but before classes because class sucks
Action: We are going to do some ~palmistry~ and by palmistry I mean just reading the finger! Natsume's mad this is all they have to go on because you need a whole hand to get the full picture but there's some stuff you can get still it's fine. Thanks everyone for letting me do this it was very excited to drop into my gc today.
There's some stuff that's pretty important to palmistry itself for like personality bullshit but more importantly just some baseline physical questions:
1. How does the nail look on this finger? Well-manicured and clean and you know just like, taken care of, totally awful like someone doesn't care about it, any splits... Length etc.
2. Is there any blood in the nailbed itself?
3. May be somewhat hard to tell, but how's the skin on this thing. Any particular callouses?
no subject
1) the nail looks fairly short, grown out maybe a millimeter, is definitely not clean with how much it's been through and sat in, and looks like the nail of somebody who cuts it when it gets too long but doesn't bother doing it evenly or filing it perfect
2) There doesn't seem to be any blood in the nailbed, if this question is to determine whether the finger was crushed in a way that would bleed into the nail then no
3) Frankly, it's gross. There are no callouses, but Natsume may see some small cuts here and there that are all swollen due being in water.
no subject
Interesting though, noted. Next set of questions and I'm sorry in advance because they're stupid but fortunetelling is fake, actually.
1. How long is the finger compared to Natsume's... In general is it a short and stubby one, or is it a long and elegant one. Is it bony? For the record, Natsume has dainty hands. They're still boy-sized but they're like, dainty-boy-sized.
2. Is it a very straight finger or does it have some curve/crookedness to it. Actually another good q courtesy of me staring at my ugly ring finger is "is it slightly fatter on one side," which was a fun result of jamming it catching a football and then never getting it looked at because I didn't think it was going to be a big deal.
3. Are the cuts in any particular... pattern... I don't know how to describe this, sorry. Are they all over the finger, or are they just in particular places - like the inside, like they'd been gripping something, or on the outside, like scraps or deliberate cuts?
4. This is stupid and probably too difficult to tell given the wrinkliness, but are there more noticeable horizontal lines on this finger or vertical lines?
no subject
1) The finger is slightly longer than his, with long fingernails as opposed to stubby nails, is more squishy than boney but once he lets it dry out, it seems to be pretty normal, neither boney nor fat.
2) I looked at my ring finger just now which is slightly crooked and got slammed with the memory of jamming it on a basketball in middle school and never getting it looked at because I didn't think it was going to be a big deal. That said, this finger is straight.
3) One cut seems to be across and above the knuckle more towards the ring finger, another down the length of the pad, overall they look like separate instances. He might find a little piece of metal imbedded in the pad, actually, which he may or may not recognize to be the same color as the pipe running underneath that sink.
4) I have no idea what this means. UH. Horizontal.

Don't worry 4 wasn't that important (fortuneteller vc if you see noticeable horizontal lines going up your middle finger, this could signify that you don’t feel very secure in your daily life and relationships) TOWARDS THE RING FINGER... Does this middle finger belong to a left hand or a right hand. I feel like I should've asked that first.
And noted about the metal, can't wait to go back to the bathroom when the teachers are gone to investigate the sink he helped blow up. I swear he will not bring more explosives into that bathroom.
no subject
The ring finger belongs to a left hand! I decided this just now.
Maybe what we need is more explosives. The bathroom group will let us know what to do, they can decide.
no subject
Left hand!! So judging by the fact there's no calluses he's gonna assume the owner was right-handed, since holding pens/pencils naturally cause those in your dominant hand. GGgggut says it probably belongs to an adult woman, given nail-length + the fact it's still thin but slightly longer than his, but one that probably doesn't care THAT much about how the nails look since there's nothing otherwise special about it.
Now (shuffles papers) it looks torn or blown off right... After letting it dry and stuff, is there any post-mortem bruising that might point to one or the other more. I'm just assuming there'd be some and I'm not brave enough to actually google any while I still have to eat dinner.
no subject
I don't want to google post mortem bruising either so, uh, we're going to say that Natsume is able to tell that the finger looks like it was blown off post mortem, eg it used to be attached to a hand but now it's not because of a sink bomb. I have no idea what this is supposed to look like and don't want to google it but it's like when flesh decomposes to the point where it can be torn pretty easily and it's just a matter of breaking the ligament to remove a finger, it's been that long in the water.

someone walks in on natsume making a bomb and is like "did you do in the sink" and he has to be like "technically i only made the bomb, my partner in crime dropped it in, so actually, not really, i did not do in the sink, and"

Great news....... Me trying to figure out what else I can figure out from a finger. Idk I might come back to this if I think of anything else but thank you until then!!!
