On Tuesday, after classes are long over and clubs just about wrapping up, those studying inside the library may notice black smoke start to fill the room. With the lack of sound, the library relies on flashing strobe lights to alert students of an emergency and the librarian with her piercing stare and domineering presence to order students to pack and leave IMMEDIATELY. The longer one lingers inside the library, the greater the sense of dread builds inside of them until they're unable to resist the student council members who have come to escort the last of the stragglers out, physically if need be.

Outside of the library, gathering students speculate about what happened, whether there was a fire, what were they planning to burn, maybe they were trying to get back at the librarian— who looks positively livid, by the way, and maybe staying clear of the library for several days until she cools off isn't a bad idea, although students will have no choice as the student council members standing guard at the door prevent anybody from reentering the library until it is deemed safe.

The library is closed for the rest of the week, and a sign on the door states that it will reopen on Monday the 19th.

Around half an hour after midnight, those sleeping on the third floor in or near the second year classrooms may feel the ground shudder beneath them. They, uh, may actually want to relocate very soon, because water bursts out of the bathroom and floods the entire floor with very cold, light pink water.

Is that a finger floating down the hall? Yeah... yeah.

By the time the first of the faculty arrives at six in the morning, the entire third floor is flooded, and water has traveled down the stairwell to the lower floors as well, although there isn't as much water as one would think, as if something more is blocking the pipes and preventing all the water from rushing out of the burst pipe at once. The water is shut off for the rest of the day so repairs can be done and the floors mopped down and dried, with the second and third years relocated to the club rooms and auditorium for classes, and the bathroom by 2-D is closed for repairs until Monday the 19th.

When the water is turned on again at the end of the day, it is still very very faintly tinged pink.

Considering that it's the middle of the night and most people, if they need to sleep, are doing so, it may be a while before anybody wanders into the auditorium. When they do, they're stricken with a bout of vertigo that passes almost as soon as it starts, and they may notice a body on the ground in front of the largest glass case in the back of the room. As in, the body inside the case is still there, and now there is a second body lying on the ground in front of it in a pool of dark red blood. A charming little note has been stuck to the front of the body's uniform, and a fluffy white cat runs out of the room while a skinny black cat peers at whoever is there from behind the large glass case.

Whether the people who initially discover the body decide to look for clues first or go wake and gather everybody to bring to the auditorium, they should be aware that the other students and faculty will be arriving in just a little over two hours. What are y'all going to do!!! You tell me.

Whether the body is left or moved, though, a missing student quickly becomes obvious, and the assistant principal orders a school assembly in the auditorium on Monday the 19th, looking very pale and slightly sick, which may or may not be due to the presence of a ...very realistic """doll""" on display in a glass case behind her. She announces that the student council president has passed away, and that students who report information regarding the situation to the faculty will receive merit points for their assistance, and whoever can provide indisputable proof of what happened and who was involved will receive 300 merit points, enough to put them well above even the best of students.

She also brings up the destruction in the library the other day, and how the pipes had burst overnight, and how the ceiling tiles seem to have been falling in places and have led the janitor to discover rats in the walls. Since the school will be closed over spring break, she will be having repairmen do extensive repairs on the school, including a very thorough fumigation to ensure no rats or bugs or anything of the sort left inside the school will come out of spring break alive.

✽ Please note that silence is strictly enforced in the library at all hours, and in the rest of the school from midnight to 6 AM. Although the library and the bathroom by 2-D are closed until the 19th, the doors are not locked and both rooms are accessible for investigation when the npcs are not present.

✽ idk if anybody would want this, but the first person to icly claim the finger when the third floor gets flooded on the 14th can have it Senku has the finger. Characters may also find tangles of black hair and scraps of black fabric in the water, but not much more.

Action: everyone else trying to solve a murder and im just like what about the BOOKS man.......... Clamor wants to try and find where the fire started, mostly, and what may have gotten damaged/destroyed/removed, so focusing on anything that looks to be fire-related or just missing bookshelves/sections of the library.

And are there stains on her clothes other than blood that might link to somewhere she's been? (i.e. dirt of a specific color, chemicals, w/e)

Investigation: Not as much investigation as "where is the corpse" when investigations cease for reference as necessary! He's a terrible priest but respecc the dead, people.
Time: Immediately following the investigation "phase"
Action: Abel will cover Corpse-chan in a sheet from the home ec room and take her to the clock tower for privacy. There was some chatter in plurk about putting the body on ice to preserve it/prevent it from decomposing, so if you want to help with that, please let me know!! They can't give her a proper burial so ensuring she isn't manhandled or gawked over is the next best thing huh. TL;DR - If anyone needs to take another look at her, the Clock Tower is where she'll be post-discovery. Abel will be keeping an eye on her if you want to stop by.

Investigating the Body/Arts and Crafts Room

Investigation: The body in the auditorium and... the arts and crafts room?

Action: As soon as Ritsuka sees the body, she's going to sprint full tilt to the arts and crafts room and start using whatever materials she can find there to quickly make a rope using the techniques she learned from Francis Drake and a few other pirates on the seas of Okeanos. It doesn't need to be too long, just long enough to reach past the distance between the top of one of the auditorium walls and the spot where the body fell down. Or... a full two storeys if the spot where the body is is farther from the walls than the floor. Whatever the case, she's going to try and do it quickly and her focus will be on that, but she'll also keep an eye out for any anomalies in the arts and crafts room.

She'll also take this opportunity to change into one of her secondary outfits (yes I know it's the masc version but this one is way more practical than the femme version), hooking two of the "practice daggers" that she made while forging Gawain's gladius from nuts and bolts onto the belt along with the crowbar she found.

Investigating the Body Post-Ventventure

Action: Ritsuka is going to do something that will look very weird to any outside audience: getting on her knees and carefully sniffing every inch of the prez's clothes and body for the scent of disinfectant.

If there is a scent, is it just on her back, or is it on other places on her body?

Action: We are going to do some ~palmistry~ and by palmistry I mean just reading the finger! Natsume's mad this is all they have to go on because you need a whole hand to get the full picture but there's some stuff you can get still it's fine. Thanks everyone for letting me do this it was very excited to drop into my gc today.

There's some stuff that's pretty important to palmistry itself for like personality bullshit but more importantly just some baseline physical questions:

1. How does the nail look on this finger? Well-manicured and clean and you know just like, taken care of, totally awful like someone doesn't care about it, any splits... Length etc.
2. Is there any blood in the nailbed itself?
3. May be somewhat hard to tell, but how's the skin on this thing. Any particular callouses?

Action: They're originally just trying the door a few times, but after the black cat is drawn by the sound and then leaves, they'll try to follow it carefully from a distance to see where it goes.

Action: Shirogane first and foremost, after all of this has been going on and he's absolutely goddamn terrified is going to start by seeking out any student council member to offer condolences and ask if any of them were particularly close to the stu-co president. As such, he'd also ask if there were any particular rumors that had popped up about her, trying to suss out any potential enemies/bullies or something.

Investigation: Places..! Around the school! Will probably delve in better if he finds things but that's later us problems.
Time: Anytime past 4/19, considering what he's gonna be doing it can be done with at a leisurely pace before they're stuck in for spring break
Action: White's gonna take the comment about the ceiling falling apart, as well as rats in the wall, quite seriously! And, as he goes about his School Days and also his School Nights, since this kid does not need to sleep, he's gonna wander the halls like a ghost and look into any room he can for signs of like, moved ceiling pieces thanks to the burst. He'll even climb on desks/tables/what have you and poke random ones with a... yard stick... they have those in classrooms right. He can just borrow a broom from the janitor's closet or something otherwise, but the main point is that he's lookin' for them secret spots.

Action: Since asking the students didn't help, Noah is trying to figure out the MO of the killer by asking alternative questions. Specifically he wants to figure out correlations between the two bodies. This includes if he can tell what class year they were both in, specific wounds/damage to the bodies that might indicate a choice murder weapon/method, and minor details such as - similar/matching hair/eye/skin colours, gender identities, general appearances of both... mostly he's trying to parse what students may be targeted next based on what evidence exists for both of the dead students so far. (I listen to too much true crime I'm sorry)

I am... proud of everyone coming together, this is.. such an exciting situation we've all found ourselves in! That body's nothing more than a stepping stone for everyone here so that you all can obtain unified hope. Their death was a blessing and we should rejoice! Without it, none of us would be hand in hand, working together to find the hope that this will give us..

Even if we die along the way, I feel as if we've made something together. Why live if all we do is turn against one another, so why not be killed for trusting in one another! Ahaha.. So beautiful, so wonderful.. I even managed to watch an Ultimate work so hard to investigate, for him to bring along someone as useless and worthless as me... [ And for our 22nd thread we're gonna say Saihara was still in the auditorium, talking to some of his classmates and trying to gauge their opinion on what just happened, when... no light shines down from above and instead of God there's only Komaeda's voice. Giving him a personal shoutout, as if the rest of what he has to say wasn't concerning enough on its own already.

He's gonna bolt right out of the auditorium in a hurry, go emo boy go, use those 50 to 100 push-ups you supposedly did every night for like three chapters, and make his way up the stairs to the easy crawlspace entrance he already knows in the art room. If there are any club members in there who will think he's just as weird as Komaeda? That's a problem for future Saihara but for now he's getting in there as if his life depends on it, and then crawling as fast as he can on the way to the space above the auditorium.

Sure, Komaeda's probably yelled at like 20 more people by now, but anyway, at some point finally a second voice can be heard from up there, more muffled by being further away from the opening, and also a LOT more panicked, thank you. ]

Stop it...! Komaeda-kun, what in the world are you doing...!?
