September Event
Autumn Semester
✽ School starts up again on August 30, and club supplies resume being replenished at the start of each week.
✽ All character run clubs survive the vetting process. Maya gives the jar of dragonflies to Hiro, who hot potatoes it to Nao, who opens the jar and sets them free outside. Maya will also tell Add that if his club damages any more of the school, she will shut down the Robotics & Programming Club. The cultists are delighted with their gifts and play rock-paper-scissors to determine who gets to keep what.
✽ The science club is shut down and disbanded due to their club project being interrupted and therefore incomplete, and the door to the lab will not open to any student. The club may be reinstated in the winter semester, and will be open to all students regardless of grade level.
✽ Posted all around the school are colorful posters painted by somebody who has no sense of color theory nor any idea what racoons, manta rays, or zebras look like. They advertise the student store, and its newest attraction:
✽ There is now a gacha machine set up outside the student store, which only takes tokens provided by the shopkeeper. Tokens are 1000 yen or 10 merit points each, and 99.99999% of the prizes are normal boring rocks, but there is a miniscule chance of winning rare gemstones. If you return 100 empty gacha capsules back to the shopkeeper for recycling, they will give you one free token.

Setting Updates
✽ The right fourth floor hallway will be cleaned up during the first few days of school, with the gorinto rocks lined up against the walls on either side, and enough structural support is done so the hallway is in no danger of collapsing.
✽ The rooftop on the right side of the school can be accessed via the stair up from the end of the fourth floor hallway. The rooftop on the left side of the school can be accessed via the windows on the fourth floor, where you have to lean out the window and pull yourself up somehow. The two halves of the roof are separated by the clock tower, and there is no railing. There are concrete dividers sectioning out part of the right side into what may have once been a rooftop garden.
✽ Touching the track for more than 2 seconds results in permadeath. If you're able to jump over the track to the field, the grass is lush and green, although it gives more than expected, like a lawn after rain.
✽ There are six ball courts with height-adjustable poles for tennis and volleyball. Very old, falling apart equipment can be found in storage in the auditorium, while brand new ones can be purchased from the student store. The courts are surrounded by 10-foot fall chain link electric fence both between and around them, with a voltage high enough to cause severe burns to death, depending on the duration of contact. Electricity flows through all parts of the fencing except the door handle on the side of each court to enter.
✽ The indoor swimming pool contains separate girls and boys changing rooms, each consisting of 5 changing stalls, 2 showers, a bathroom, and 20 small lockers that do not come with their own locks but you can purchase one from the student store. Swimsuits, floaties, and towels can also be purchased from the student store. The pool is 25 meters by 25 meters, with a shallow end of 3 ft which then drops precipitously towards the deep end, where a flimsy diving board is set up. The deep end seems to continue down for thousands of meters, with light quickly disappearing and pressure becoming immense, and there is no bottom. The water is held at a constant lukewarm, and is very very slightly tinged pink. It tastes strongly of saltwater. The only windows are located on the ceiling like a skylight rather than on the walls, and lights shut off at 6pm, so it is pitch black after sundown. The pool is always open.
✽ The dormitory is open to be moved into, with rooms assignments being ICly first come first served. There is no Resident Assistant in charge. It's a lawless land. Please use the toplevel below for sign-ups.

Autumnal Equinox
✽ September 23 marks the autumnal equinox. Like during the Vernal Equinox, students spend the week cleaning the school and gorintos are set upon the windowsills. Touching a gorinto causes the character to fall into a trance and experience the moments prior to death of the person being honored, up to and including the death, with all the physical and emotional pain that comes with it.
✽ On the morning of the equinox, red spider lilies bloom all across the courtyard and deep into the forest seemingly overnight. From the clock tower or rooftop, characters are able to see the forest surrounding them on all sides is entirely covered in the red flowers up to the crest, as if the entire land were awash with blood.
✽ The wisteria tree starts to shed petals, only a handful a day and impossible to notice compared to the hundreds upon thousands of petals held aloft by the tree, if it weren't for the fact that wherever a petal drops and touches the ground, the grass and flowers in the immediate vicinity are all dried up and dead.
✽ The void continues to grow, expanding outward and reaching up into the floor above.

OOC
✽ Characters in classes 1-B, 1-D, 1-E, 2-C, and 3-E (classes who rose at least one rank in August) find that in the void school, they can start to see the void students' faces instead of them being completely shadow. They look scared, angry, resigned, anything but happy.

( as he thinks about it, dropping a body here so that it sinks after forcing millions of rocks into their body seems like one way to dispose of a body. please forgive him, npc-kun, murder is never an option that stands out his mind. with this information, he stares down into the water, wondering what the visual differences must be from what they see now, or what lurks at the bottom. )
...Ebalon-kun, what do you think of going on a little mission for me since you've been enjoying yourself here?
( correct him if he must, but he's doing that to gauge the male's response, and the thoughts of his actions compared to how he pushed everyone away in the meeting together. ) Since you're able to descend so low, you might be able to make this experiment work.

[Better not be something murderous. If Komaeda pulls out a body, Noah's going to be upset with him. They have a level of trust between them, sure, but Noah's still aware of the first incident. He's not going to hide a body.
In the meantime, though, he'll float in the water, still leaning against the edge of the pool and kicking his feet behind him idly. Curious eyes flit to Komaeda's face, then to the water below, then back up; the taste of saltwater remains on his lips. That's bad. That's very, very bad. Mental note to bring that up to someone...]

( is he playing around, or is he serious? it's the first thing that comes to mind though, saltwater, and during komaeda's time on jabberwock island — there was so many different types of creatures to be found. noah can only go so far down, so what if they force what may be down there to come up. )
Meat might do better, so I wonder if there's any we can borrow from the kitchen... but what i want is for you to descend as far as you can, and drop some sort of meal into the depths.
( he watches as noah plays in the water, up and down, up and down, and komaeda smiles softly as he makes sure not to get into the water himself. once he comes up, komaeda pats his head gently. )

He allows the headpat, blinking a bit in surprise before he nods in agreement and pulls himself out of the pool.]
If there's something big and dangerous down there, which I would imagine there is, fish food isn't going to do much for us. [Noah crosses over to where he's set aside a towel and starts drying himself off at least somewhat, before pulling a loose cotton tanktop over his head. Can't walk around the school shirtless and wet.] We can check the kitchen for meat.
[Slips his shoes on, then expectantly looks at Komaeda like, let's go. Let's do needlessly reckless shit including feeding a possible sea (pool) monster.]

( it sounds like there's too much sunlight, but there's also the chance that because the saltwater is no longer within the top layer of the pool that it can't survive. komaeda looks at the surface of the water, the light pink is similar to the liquid that comes out of the sinks of the school — if only this monster constantly bled if there is something to be found below. he shifts back, getting away from the pool's edge as he finally brings himself up so that he stands properly.
he looks towards noah, running over to him as he dresses himself, and komaeda tilts his head slightly confused. )
Why are you getting dressed?
( just a bit of conversation as they make their way to the kitchen. )
Wearing a shirt will catch the cool air, if you aren't careful... you'll get sick.

[It's not so much an issue of being shy — because if he were shy, he wouldn't swim at all — as it is just decency. Noah was raised in a pretty rigid household, and as much as he's tried to distance himself from that, some things he was taught stuck. Like the fact that you don't just wander off into public spaces without a shirt if it's against standard social norms.]
I won't get sick. My immune system is pretty good... adventuring around like I do will do that to you. I'm not worried about it. Thanks, though.
[To the kitchen they go, with one kind-of dressed Noah and one presumably very-dressed Komaeda.]

( since they're on the topic and he might as well give praise where he can. )
Your hope has grown exponentially, the aura that comes off of you in waves... it's been like this for awhile, but getting the chance to actually gauge how much... I'm very proud of you, Ebalon-kun.
( he doesn't really care for the other being sick or not, but what he does want to make note of is his hope, checking how much he has, or will have, and then he's curious all the same while he has the chance. with his hands in his pocket, he follows right beside the other as they get into the dorms, walking down the hallway as the pictures hang — there's so many supernatural things around them, but komaeda focuses on none of them (well, the beast within the water is one), but he does find himself looking at noah every so often. )
But... you're stronger than this, aren't you?
no subject
Stronger than this? [He echoes; like physically stronger or "hope"-stronger? Noah's almost sure he's reached the upper limits of hope, but maybe not. Komaeda's kind of the hope-judge here.] I guess? I do — I've done a lot.
[At least no one else is in the kitchen by the time they get there. Noah starts poking around for various meats — if this thing is carnivorous, it probably wants the reddest meats possible, right? That's how that works? How much should they get in the first place... what's the plan for if there's actually something in the water and it comes up to feast in the first place? Noah supposes he can try to catch it with shadow magic and drag it up to the surface.]
no subject
( noah has always been worth it though, from the start of where they first met in front of nao sato's body, there was always something interesting about the youth. no one else can be a martyr, but he would protect them, how he'd choose the lives of those who deserve to live — how he decided that komaeda would live, and no one else would have to sacrifice themselves. killing, being killed, motives and everything else play an important part of noah's make up — his morality skews from left to right, easy enough that hope can fill in the spots he's insecure in. )
To think you've grown this far, all on your own, with the use of the decisions that you made.
( like killing hyde and jekyll, whoever was the last person down was the one who suffered a gruesome end, but both spirits were attached to one body — so the pain was shared. as they scour the kitchen, komaeda kneels down to push open a few cabinets, checking to see if there's any meat that would quality as bait, as long as it bleeds red. ) ...Now, what if only human flesh will draw whatever it is out... This school suggests for us to think outside the box.
no subject
[Which is probably... a lot coming from a sixteen year old, actually. It might show a little more than Noah wants it to show — he started adventuring to kill his brother's murderer at fifteen, after all — but if that's the case he's completely oblivious to it. To him, being forced to grow up and strike out on his own is absolutely normal. What kid wouldn't pick up a weapon and wander the countryside to kill, put in his shoes?]
More importantly, [even though he's still proud of himself for being acknowledged as having grown this far, but he doesn't outwardly dwell on it,] I'm pretty sure all the... er... the human meat from months ago is gone. I hope it is, even if it would come in useful now.
[Don't want people eating that.]
There's some steaks in here... [pauses, thinks,] I don't think there's a morally decent way for us to get human meat to drop in the pool, but maybe it would be attracted to blood? If it doesn't come up for the meat, I can cut my arm or something open with shadow magic while I'm down there.
...If I get eaten, though, it's your fault. [Said jokingly, of course. ...Kind of.]

( if he thinks about the children he watched over back home, the li'l ultimates who hunted adults for sport, not caring how they had to kill and torture them just so they could feel something — revenge, right, validated. nothing mattered to them, and komaeda-arata let that all play out without a word, and when he looks back at it now, he wonders how he should have handled that. hope and despair, he still had it, mixed crudely together in a twisted and sick motion. )
That means I trust you. ( he pauses, looking towards noah with a gentle smile, reassuring as he turns away, looking towards the cabinets now, wondering if there's anything dried, but he doubts it'd have the same effect. it's when he hears about the steaks that komaeda-arata's eyes quickly flit over, interested, and he claps his hands together as if this is a great idea. )
We could embed the meat with your magic, but only so much... a taste should suffice if it's a creature of... the generic, boring human standards, or if it's of the supernatural... we'll kill two birds with the same stone. ( of course, that comment doesn't go by komaeda-arata, and he cants his head to the side. ) You won't get eaten... you're with me, if anything bad happens to you... you can blame me after all, but you'll remain alive to do it.
