September Event
Autumn Semester
✽ School starts up again on August 30, and club supplies resume being replenished at the start of each week.
✽ All character run clubs survive the vetting process. Maya gives the jar of dragonflies to Hiro, who hot potatoes it to Nao, who opens the jar and sets them free outside. Maya will also tell Add that if his club damages any more of the school, she will shut down the Robotics & Programming Club. The cultists are delighted with their gifts and play rock-paper-scissors to determine who gets to keep what.
✽ The science club is shut down and disbanded due to their club project being interrupted and therefore incomplete, and the door to the lab will not open to any student. The club may be reinstated in the winter semester, and will be open to all students regardless of grade level.
✽ Posted all around the school are colorful posters painted by somebody who has no sense of color theory nor any idea what racoons, manta rays, or zebras look like. They advertise the student store, and its newest attraction:
✽ There is now a gacha machine set up outside the student store, which only takes tokens provided by the shopkeeper. Tokens are 1000 yen or 10 merit points each, and 99.99999% of the prizes are normal boring rocks, but there is a miniscule chance of winning rare gemstones. If you return 100 empty gacha capsules back to the shopkeeper for recycling, they will give you one free token.

Setting Updates
✽ The right fourth floor hallway will be cleaned up during the first few days of school, with the gorinto rocks lined up against the walls on either side, and enough structural support is done so the hallway is in no danger of collapsing.
✽ The rooftop on the right side of the school can be accessed via the stair up from the end of the fourth floor hallway. The rooftop on the left side of the school can be accessed via the windows on the fourth floor, where you have to lean out the window and pull yourself up somehow. The two halves of the roof are separated by the clock tower, and there is no railing. There are concrete dividers sectioning out part of the right side into what may have once been a rooftop garden.
✽ Touching the track for more than 2 seconds results in permadeath. If you're able to jump over the track to the field, the grass is lush and green, although it gives more than expected, like a lawn after rain.
✽ There are six ball courts with height-adjustable poles for tennis and volleyball. Very old, falling apart equipment can be found in storage in the auditorium, while brand new ones can be purchased from the student store. The courts are surrounded by 10-foot fall chain link electric fence both between and around them, with a voltage high enough to cause severe burns to death, depending on the duration of contact. Electricity flows through all parts of the fencing except the door handle on the side of each court to enter.
✽ The indoor swimming pool contains separate girls and boys changing rooms, each consisting of 5 changing stalls, 2 showers, a bathroom, and 20 small lockers that do not come with their own locks but you can purchase one from the student store. Swimsuits, floaties, and towels can also be purchased from the student store. The pool is 25 meters by 25 meters, with a shallow end of 3 ft which then drops precipitously towards the deep end, where a flimsy diving board is set up. The deep end seems to continue down for thousands of meters, with light quickly disappearing and pressure becoming immense, and there is no bottom. The water is held at a constant lukewarm, and is very very slightly tinged pink. It tastes strongly of saltwater. The only windows are located on the ceiling like a skylight rather than on the walls, and lights shut off at 6pm, so it is pitch black after sundown. The pool is always open.

Autumnal Equinox
✽ September 23 marks the autumnal equinox. Like during the Vernal Equinox, students spend the week cleaning the school and gorintos are set upon the windowsills. Touching a gorinto causes the character to fall into a trance and experience the moments prior to death of the person being honored, up to and including the death, with all the physical and emotional pain that comes with it.
✽ On the morning of the equinox, red spider lilies bloom all across the courtyard and deep into the forest seemingly overnight. From the clock tower or rooftop, characters are able to see the forest surrounding them on all sides is entirely covered in the red flowers up to the crest, as if the entire land were awash with blood.
✽ The wisteria tree starts to shed petals, only a handful a day and impossible to notice compared to the hundreds upon thousands of petals held aloft by the tree, if it weren't for the fact that wherever a petal drops and touches the ground, the grass and flowers in the immediate vicinity are all dried up and dead.
✽ The void continues to grow, expanding outward and reaching up into the floor above.

✽ Characters in classes 1-B, 1-D, 1-E, 2-C, and 3-E (classes who rose at least one rank in August) find that in the void school, they can start to see the void students' faces instead of them being completely shadow. They look scared, angry, resigned, anything but happy.

Y...yeah, they're fine to pick up. Um... th-they'll feel a bit odd compared to a normal cat, but it's the best I can do.
[The one Akira's hands are hovering over turns its head to look up at him, blue eyes blinking and shadowy little whiskers twitching, but it doesn't make to run away. No, in fact, it just sits its butt down like it expects pets or some other form of love. Why do you hesitate, human? Where are pets?]
I just... animals make places feel more like home, right? S...so... I thought I'd liven the place up.

Mm. My partner back at home looks a lot like this guy, so... having them around is a bit nostalgic.
[ Nevermind that his partner would be yelling in his ear that he's not a cat, but you can't deny the uncanny resemblance... so much that Akira's hand keeps dancing to stroke the little shadowy creature even when he's glancing Noah's way finally. As much interest as he has in the cats, he's also curious about the kind of person that could do this. ]
They're all yours? It's a pretty cool trick.

[Not that his current partner is bad or anything! It's just Noah's always wanted a pet and could never have one growing up, and somewhere along the line his lonely, friendless ass decided shadow cats were a good coping method. He can also use them to fight with — the magic isn't all for show and splendor — but he doesn't say that. Noah isn't intending to fight anyone, or scare them off.]
Th...thanks, though. Um... [The shyness returns immediately. How dare he be complimented.] ...I can make other animals, too. And things, like silhouettes of people, but they're not as refined-looking. It gets a little hard to make super detailed things like a human face.
[He holds his left arm up a bit, vaguely gesturing with a nod of his head toward the wispy shadows swirling around the blackened limb. Shadow magic is stored in the left arm, clearly.]

... Something like that, yeah. It's pretty convenient since you can just shove him in your bag and go; nobody questions a guy and his cat for the most part. [ A finger comes up to touch to the tiny nose on his shoulder. ] We did pretty much everything together... so it's weird not having him at my side.
[ Anyway, he does seem to take a keen interest in the arm presented, bending over slightly to maybe get a bit more into this guy's space; his hand falls to catch his own chin thoughtfully, observing. ]
Wow... impressive. Maybe it's me who's jealous of you. [ Oh the things he could do with that power, the pranks he could play... maybe it's best that it's in someone else's hands. ] If I were in your shoes, I'd fill this place up with fifty... no, a hundred cats. It really does feel like home that way.

I wish I could, but it takes too much energy for me to do that many. [The school's limiting his power; that's why all the cats are within a ten foot radius of Noah, too.] I've been trying to strengthen my magic lately, so maybe one day soon?
[If only he was back home, though. A ridiculous amount of cats might not be so difficult to achieve then... sigh.
The cat that Akira's petting, though — the little shadow is enjoying itself! Supposedly, anyway, it's kind of hard to tell with magic like this. Noah returns to sketching after a moment, sometimes stealing a glance at Akira before going back to what he's doing.]

[ If you ever want to practice, the door to room Star 5 will always be open for cats. No, he did not ask his other roommates, but they'll be fine with it. Just bring those kitties in.
Anyway, that laugh does seem to warm Akira up as well, and he seems to settle to a relaxed sort of content not unlike the cats themselves. He'll settle down in the end, sitting on the floor with his lap left open and his ankles crossed, continuing to shower the shadow he's chosen with affection. He's quite content to sit in the quiet while Noah sketches, he doesn't need a ton of words - but he perks at the question, and his glance comes back up easily. ]
His name was Morgana. [ There's no hesitation when he responds - he's happy to share. ] He took care of me more than I looked after him, but we were a great team. I don't think I would have survived without him. More clever than anybody I've ever met... a bit of a nag, though. [ It's Akira's turn to laugh, albeit quietly. He does miss it. ] The way you ask, it sounds like you might have one too?
[ A partner, that is - it's not a bond easily understood unless you've experienced it.

That story sparks a bit of warmth in his chest, though; Noah nods a bit shyly at the question.]
Yeah. His name's Clamor — have you seen him around here? He's the half-elf with the brown hair and the monocle. [Sometimes he has nerd glasses, too.] He's... uh... [a sickle, normally; he skips over that tidbit and settles on,] ...he's probably the closest thing I have to family. He's sort of like an older brother or a father figure to me, and he's been there to support me for a long time now. There's nothing I wouldn't do for him.
[He slumps his shoulders a bit, looking somewhat defeated. Clamor hasn't needed him lately, not as much as they used to when the man was, you know, stuck in the form of a scythe and not able to move on his own. It's a good thing, for Clamor to have freedom, but Noah also misses the constant presence that comes with it. In the end, back home, if he'd ever figured out how to free Clamor from being trapped in weapon form, it'd probably be something like this — necessary autonomy and being less joined at the hip. Noah just has... attachment issues, that's all.]
But... I guess kind of like your partner, mine can also be a nag. It's always "do your homework" and "stop cursing" and "don't do anything stupid" and all that.
