September Event

Autumn Semester

✽ School starts up again on August 30, and club supplies resume being replenished at the start of each week.
✽ All character run clubs survive the vetting process. Maya gives the jar of dragonflies to Hiro, who hot potatoes it to Nao, who opens the jar and sets them free outside. Maya will also tell Add that if his club damages any more of the school, she will shut down the Robotics & Programming Club. The cultists are delighted with their gifts and play rock-paper-scissors to determine who gets to keep what.
✽ The science club is shut down and disbanded due to their club project being interrupted and therefore incomplete, and the door to the lab will not open to any student. The club may be reinstated in the winter semester, and will be open to all students regardless of grade level.
✽ Posted all around the school are colorful posters painted by somebody who has no sense of color theory nor any idea what racoons, manta rays, or zebras look like. They advertise the student store, and its newest attraction:
✽ There is now a gacha machine set up outside the student store, which only takes tokens provided by the shopkeeper. Tokens are 1000 yen or 10 merit points each, and 99.99999% of the prizes are normal boring rocks, but there is a miniscule chance of winning rare gemstones. If you return 100 empty gacha capsules back to the shopkeeper for recycling, they will give you one free token.

Setting Updates

✽ The right fourth floor hallway will be cleaned up during the first few days of school, with the gorinto rocks lined up against the walls on either side, and enough structural support is done so the hallway is in no danger of collapsing.
✽ The rooftop on the right side of the school can be accessed via the stair up from the end of the fourth floor hallway. The rooftop on the left side of the school can be accessed via the windows on the fourth floor, where you have to lean out the window and pull yourself up somehow. The two halves of the roof are separated by the clock tower, and there is no railing. There are concrete dividers sectioning out part of the right side into what may have once been a rooftop garden.
✽ Touching the track for more than 2 seconds results in permadeath. If you're able to jump over the track to the field, the grass is lush and green, although it gives more than expected, like a lawn after rain.
✽ There are six ball courts with height-adjustable poles for tennis and volleyball. Very old, falling apart equipment can be found in storage in the auditorium, while brand new ones can be purchased from the student store. The courts are surrounded by 10-foot fall chain link electric fence both between and around them, with a voltage high enough to cause severe burns to death, depending on the duration of contact. Electricity flows through all parts of the fencing except the door handle on the side of each court to enter.
✽ The indoor swimming pool contains separate girls and boys changing rooms, each consisting of 5 changing stalls, 2 showers, a bathroom, and 20 small lockers that do not come with their own locks but you can purchase one from the student store. Swimsuits, floaties, and towels can also be purchased from the student store. The pool is 25 meters by 25 meters, with a shallow end of 3 ft which then drops precipitously towards the deep end, where a flimsy diving board is set up. The deep end seems to continue down for thousands of meters, with light quickly disappearing and pressure becoming immense, and there is no bottom. The water is held at a constant lukewarm, and is very very slightly tinged pink. It tastes strongly of saltwater. The only windows are located on the ceiling like a skylight rather than on the walls, and lights shut off at 6pm, so it is pitch black after sundown. The pool is always open.
✽ The dormitory is open to be moved into, with rooms assignments being ICly first come first served. There is no Resident Assistant in charge. It's a lawless land. Please use the toplevel below for sign-ups.

Autumnal Equinox

✽ September 23 marks the autumnal equinox. Like during the Vernal Equinox, students spend the week cleaning the school and gorintos are set upon the windowsills. Touching a gorinto causes the character to fall into a trance and experience the moments prior to death of the person being honored, up to and including the death, with all the physical and emotional pain that comes with it.
✽ On the morning of the equinox, red spider lilies bloom all across the courtyard and deep into the forest seemingly overnight. From the clock tower or rooftop, characters are able to see the forest surrounding them on all sides is entirely covered in the red flowers up to the crest, as if the entire land were awash with blood.
✽ The wisteria tree starts to shed petals, only a handful a day and impossible to notice compared to the hundreds upon thousands of petals held aloft by the tree, if it weren't for the fact that wherever a petal drops and touches the ground, the grass and flowers in the immediate vicinity are all dried up and dead.
✽ The void continues to grow, expanding outward and reaching up into the floor above.

OOC

✽ Characters in classes 1-B, 1-D, 1-E, 2-C, and 3-E (classes who rose at least one rank in August) find that in the void school, they can start to see the void students' faces instead of them being completely shadow. They look scared, angry, resigned, anything but happy.

[Lucifer can't see, no, but what if he inclines his head and places a kiss to Clamor's cheek... actually, yeah, he'll do that. A little slow kiss on the cheek for his darling. Lucifer's nothing if not romantic; he'll cross-breed you a new genus of rose if you want.]

I could show you many things, [ignore the undertones to this comment for sanity's sake — he's related to Asmodeus after all,] but why don't you carry on with the show? I'm no good at fireballs, admittedly.

[Woooooow, Lucifer's not good at something! And he admitted it!

But he'll let go (halfway) (he has an arm around Clamor's waist still as he stands up fully) and offer the latter space to work. It's probably hard to cast spells when there's an entire demon clinging like that after all.]

[ooh yeah, that would do it. can't exactly hide how easily his ears flush at the slightest little thing... embarrassing. look at these gays. who wouldn't instantly fall for Lucifer's charms when he acts like this?

Clamor laughs lightly, clearing his throat and composing himself somewhat before he turns around to face the demon. He would go back to his practising, but.]

Actually... there was something I wanted to ask you about. [and maybe he's embarrassed about how shitty he is at fireballs, even if Lucifer is (maybe??) claiming to be worse at it, so. he shuts his book for now, leaving the fireball page marked with a red ribbon, his smile becoming a little more hesitant.] Is there a hex that can put people to sleep? I mean... I guess you're probably not supposed to use that kind of thing on yourself, but...

[it'd be handy to know how to do, in case of nightmares. he might be lowkey avoiding sleep still, staying up way too late before crawling into bed every night... but of course, it wouldn't be like Clamor to admit to that kind of thing so easily. everything is fine!!]

[Please, they were very nice fireballs. Lucifer is a man who knows to get out of the damn way when a fireball comes at him, no matter what size — Satan had long-since engraved that into him. So many coats burned through... ahem.]

There are plenty of hexes like that, yes, though they mostly fall under the category of mind magic, which is another school entirely. However, a sleep hex would be, in its most basic form, the beginnings of such... which is to say that I know it. It would be dangerous to use a sleeping spell on yourself unless you set up the parameters for waking properly — an inexperienced mage could put himself to sleep for the rest of eternity.

[Belphegor is better at such magic, being the Avatar of Sloth, but there's a reason Lucifer is the strongest brother. What he doesn't know, he insists on learning. To his credit, he can usually get those things correct in one or two tries.

He squints a tad bit, though, lips drawing into a thin line before his soft inquiry of,]

Are you not sleeping well? Is that why you wish to learn?

[please.... at least he can be confident Clamor would never throw a fireball at him. Lucifer's coat shall remain unburnt for today.

An eternity of sleep... that's a pretty long time to pay for a small mistake. But it'd be fine as long as he's careful, right? He laughs a little, averting his eyes at that look Lucifer is giving him.]

Well... I'm not the only one who has trouble sleeping. [looks at Noah, looks at Sidney too tbh, who in Yogen hasn't been traumatized recently] It's fine, forget it. If you're not confident you could teach it, I wouldn't want to force you to... I'll figure out something safer on my own.

[there's always the nurse's office... or he can just keep pushing himself to exhaustion every night. no need for him to impose on Lucifer.]

[That's true, literally none of you sleep. To be fair, Lucifer has poor sleeping habits as well, prone to subsisting on coffee so that he can get work done and then patrolling the halls at night in case anyone decides to do any thing untoward.]

It's not a question of my confidence, it's a question of your willingness to learn a spell that could potentially damn you if you were to use it on yourself.

[Lucifer is the hexing master, sir, and if he can't at least have a leg up on Belphie's pedestal sometimes, then he's not a very good Strongest Brother Ever.]

You're a smart man, Clamor. I have no reason to doubt your ability, but the warning is necessary, too. Actually, as good at protective magics as you are, you might be able to combine such things together to make your own effective sleep spell that won't have dire consequences should something go awry.

[personal profile] sunstead 2021-09-09 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
[oh yeah, he could do something like that... maybe a protective charm to balance out the hex, or some other supplement so he doesn't have to use as much power? things to think about, hmm.]

You don't have to flatter me so much, Lucifer. I'm not good at everything... certainly not sleeping spells. Mind magic must be a difficult art to master.

I promise I'll be careful... but if something does go wrong, you'll be there to wake me up, won't you?

[nothing like a kiss to break the sleeping spell. he smiles coyly.]

[personal profile] carpevinum 2021-09-10 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, now he's playing cute. Well... good news, Lucifer's not immune, at all, to things like this. Totally unexpected of him, the audience gasps in horror.]

You can be certain of that, my love.

[Sorry to anyone else who might be on the roof literally at all during this time, it's been commandeered for Gay Shit™. Lucifer still hasn't let go of Clamor after all — he's had no reason to move his hand from the shorter's waist — and his other hand winds up finding its way to Clamor's after a moment's pause. He intertwines their fingers and then bumps their foreheads together, smiling softly to himself.

It's oddly peaceful, considering where they are, and also the fact that he literally just said something along the lines of "if you fuck this spell up you'll probably die".]
sunstead: (088)

[personal profile] sunstead 2021-09-10 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
[there's a moment of hesitation where his hand is more held than intertwined, eyes glancing away when their foreheads touch... but he recovers quickly to reciprocate the gesture. getting used to this still takes time, perhaps. he's getting there.]

Then I have nothing to fear. Since I have you by my side.
carpevinum: (010)

[personal profile] carpevinum 2021-09-11 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[He can take his time; Lucifer is a patient man. Well... okay, Lucifer is a patient man where it counts.

But oh, be still his beating heart. Clamor gets a forehead kiss for that one.]

Honestly... when I came here, I hardly expected to fall in love with not one, but two someones. I do hope you'll let me take you back to the Devildom one day, genuinely.

[He has to show off the cute mage he found.]

If you need further incentive, we have numerous magical classes that I think you'd enjoy a great deal. I would hope you'd come for more than just schoolwork, though.

[Winks.]

So a handsome demon wants to send me to Hell? I guess that's fair. [this line has been sitting in my WIP doc for weeks and its finally time to unleash it upon the world, sorry not sorry

but anyway, he is... perhaps a bit less reactive than usual, just kinda accepting the forehead kiss without melting into a puddle like Clamor normally would. it's hard to imitate that kind of reaction and make it look believable, so he's just playing it cool. kiss away, demon man, you can't shake his composure with your wiles.]

Maybe after graduation. I think I've had enough school for a lifetime, though... I could go for a real change of scenery.
carpevinum: (A Gift From Diavolo)

left this sitting here for 3 days because I could not believe the audacity of this bitch

[personal profile] carpevinum 2021-09-28 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Haha yeah he sure does, what was that about school hold on. Lucifer's eyes narrow a bit, and then he quirks a brow. His hands are still on Clamor because, well, it's Lucifer and he's quite handsy.]

You don't want to attend school? That's quite surprising. [Maybe Yogen has soured Clamor's views of school which... Lucifer wouldn't find too surprising, but still? What even.] ...ah, maybe you have the wrong impression. [Why would Clamor not want to attend school otherwise—?] Our faculties are a lot safer than here. If someone was murdered on campus, Lord Diavolo wouldn't rest until the culprit was found. We're demons, not barbarians.
