( it starts out small. a need for comfort food, and a need for something heartfelt but silly and fun, something genuine and kind. ... and, well, she did find a weird. bootleg vhs set of her favorite movie series, hamster space wars. but the dorm is only barely furnished- and it's not like they can just go out and buy a tv or anything. honestly she completely doubts there's even anything beyond the woods. but she remembers a teacher playing the thing and other stuff in the first month of all of this. 

it's so long ago...

but there's a television and a vhs player in the school. and nene... nene's tired and sad and is currently out of fucks to give, so at some point in the day, after everyone else has left, nene has returned to the school and, uh. "borrowed" both things. it's fine. they just have to get it back in by sunday evening. don't worry about it. like, it's definitely heavy but she's a tough cookie who tills soil and everything, and also sara and noah both witnessed everything and are accomplices by default, so they had to help carry things too. 

(they were completely happy to help on both accounts, she asked very nicely.) 

so the "borrowed" television is set up across from one of the larger couches, and the vhs on top of it. she had cookies in the oven, donuts and hot chocolate made and popcorn popped. the common room paintings are covered with sheets of cloth. all that was left was something cozy- but at this point, nene's made so many little cushions and blankets and even cozy pjs that that's super easy. all that was left was letting anyone who wanted to come know too. so at some point in the halls, nene walks down calling out: )

Cartoons in the common room! Bring blankets and stuff! 

( and, so everyone knows what their characters are getting into: hamster space wars is a movie series about different factions of hamsters that have been trying for cross planetary peace for ages now, with a villainous faction having sabotaged the final negotiations so they can control the war from the shadows to make the most money and also get the most seeds (Very Decadent). the first movie follows the main hamster and his little group trying to escape the villains after having witnessed the sabotage, and are trying to avoid assassination and end the war for good. the sequels follow allied factions, with hamster galactic wars being the Thrilling Conclusion. 

it's heartfelt. it's silly. it's very cute. nene loves it. )

( admittedly nene's not sure she's actually up for a big group of people- everyone is very chaotic- but fuck it! she's got her jammies, she's got her hair braided, she's got her skull brooch pinning her bangs to the side- holy crap she's got actual bangs now- and she's got her blankets and a couple of pillows. if anyone gets dibs on sitting with her, she'll offer them a donut or a cookie! )

[ Never mind the couches and actual chairs in the common room, sleepovers are meant to be on the ground and Hikaru goes ahead and drops a pillow on the ground next to Nene and plops down next to her. ]

Did you make all this? I could've helped! I've gotten a lot better with you teaching me things, you know?

Ahhh... I got so caught up in everything, it slipped my mind. Next time, I'll definitely let you know! ... Though, to be honest, we might need more later on tonight. Everyone gets a little wild sometimes...

[ Wild's making them think of food fights but... it's fine. It's hardwood floors and very little furniture, which will make the place easy to clean up the next morning. ]

I'll help you later, then! You don't have to feel bad about doing everything on your own, in case you are. Sometimes you need something to focus on to take your mind off things for a while, and baking is pretty good for that! There's so much measuring, and things have to be at the right temperature, and you have to get the timing just right too...

That's kinda it, yeah. You know, I went in to make popcorn and the next thing I knew I had like, three pans of chocolate chip cookies? Wild.

[ Oh... okay. The hug seems to take them by surprise, but once they get over that, they lean into it and gives Nene a one armed hug back, the best they can do sitting next to her. ]

Sometimes it just happens like that... I heard you can use popcorn in cookies, actually! Have you ever made that before? Salty and sweet sounds like it'll be good!

( look, sometimes you are touch-starved and so emotionally drained you are one spilled cup of tea from crying for a week and people being nice and understanding also makes you want to cry but in a good way and you need to hug the person responsible for that feeling.

Oh- yeah, that's kinda part of it! ( and while he flops, she's gonna play with his hair a bit and like. offer him a cookie. she and aoi feed each other while getting snugs all the time, after all. ) To be honest... I just really wanted cartoons and to not be alone. Guess what I found~!

This is nice... I think a lot of us needed this. Especially me.

[ When was the last time she was at any kind of sleepover? It's been a long time since she's been able to just unwind, dressed in pjs and wrapped in a blanket to enjoy a movie. ]

Oh, me too... this is actually my favorite movie series, I found the tapes in my locker? It's not the first thing I found like that though... It's like someone filmed a tv showing it, though.

She lets out a sigh, sinking into her bundled up blanket. You'd think that the installation of the dorms would provide some relaxion, but... when your roommate is Childe, not really. Still, he hasn't been enough of a headache that she'd rather go back to sleeping on the floor, so...

She continues to watch the movie, gushing a little because of how cute the hamsters are... ]

( nene nods eagerly, settling into her own blanket nice and easily- she's seen these movies so many times, aside from the last one which had come out just this year for her in her own world. she thinks it might have still been in theaters, actually. )

[ Heck yeah, hamster marathon! It may have been a long time since she's done it, but she remembers the fun in staying up all night (or at least trying) for a movie marathon.

Which means that she's either making through this awake like a champ or passing out midway through on the floor in her blanket bundle. ]

Two days. And then I slept for a whole day and Momma got mad at me.

( but it was sooooooo worth it- it'd been a new game she'd been wanting to play so badly... she waited for the weekend and everything! )

[ Because she's the ringleader to this whole event but also because Akira declared that name upon her previously - is quiet voice is insistent as he drops himself near Nene to park himself on a pillow, immediately gets comfy by wrapping his arms around his bent knees. ]

I want a braid like yours.

[ His arm stays wrapped where they are but one of his fingers is pointing up towards himself from it's position against his knees... his hair is fluffy but isn't anywhere near long enough for this. But still. A man can dream. ]

( that's a tall order... but hmm. nene looks over his hair seriously, before tugging him just a bit closer. although, she still has to shift onto her knees just a bit, because unfortunately nene is so very tiny. )

I'll do my best, but I promise you'll look cuter than anyone else here when I'm done.

( his hair is nice and fluffy, a bit longer than most boys' back home, but she even managed hanako's hair when he let her. kou was the most challenging, since it was super short... hmmm. gently, nene starts working on the side of his head. )

Akira-kun, is your hair always like this? It's really nice!

( the braid so far is thick but soft looking, unfortunately short- but a given with his hair's length. the way it lays from the top to over the side gives it an illusion of more inches than there really is though, and she ties it with a small white ribbon. )

There! Ah, where's a mirror...

( no hand mirrors... tragic... now he has to go see in the bathroom, that's like on the other side of the building.... )

[ SO wild and very disappointing, that's the colour he would have wanted... but it's OK he'll accept four black painted nails and yellow painted nail on each hand, that's still stylish.

Anyway he's very excited to see, but he doesn't want to go that far... thinking... then a light goes off in his head and he's got his PDA in his pocket, if he leaves the screen off it should be reflective enough that he can see a bit of his reflection in it, right?? Enough to see the outline of Nene's work to get a grin and a nod of approval. ]

... Wow. I'm a beauty.

[ Nene you could make a career out of this. He's angling the PDA to look at himself from different angles with his look of satisfaction. ]

[ Ok insult done. She points at Komeada and mouths "dare, sorry" and then walks off briskly, because she has about thirty people to do. ]
