September mini-event pt 2

It's early Friday morning, the silence lifted but still a while before npc students will start coming to school. The door to the student store remains locked, despite always being propped open by a doorstop first thing in the morning, like clockwork. In the pool building, the lights automatically switch on for the day, illuminating the water below.

A large black shape floats in the middle of the pool, air trapped in the fabric wrapped and tangled around it.

Location: 4th floor hallway... and up
Action: Nothing insane (I'm sorry Lavvy) but I realized I don't think we checked out... the actual roof, even if just to clear it of involvement bc all this stuff was in the hallway that literally leads to it. So after catching up with Shin's network post and talking to Komaeda (who mentioned Amami's hand injury) he's going to go up there to look at the scene too.

There were visible marks of something being dragged towards the window, right? Does the trail look like they stopped AT the window or... do they go towards the stairs/door to the roof?

It looks like the trail stopped at the window! that Shuichi is very familiar with, I hope you know the combination of "Shuichi" + "window" makes me sad

I was thinking about it too ngl... it's fine, he's just going to give it a long look and hesitate a little before he touches it and maybe his hand is a little shaky for a second.

He'll examine it and also try to open it. Is it intact... or does it look like it was broken, or at least weakened by some kind of forceful/rushed opening?

The window looks like it opens pretty easily, glass somewhat loose in its frame with the years of abandonment, and he'll have no trouble opening/closing it, and the window will stay open without having to be propped up. There doesn't seem to be any sign of damage to it or the frame or anything immediately around it, and looking out the window down towards the ground he can see that bush that'd been crushed by somebody/thing falling onto it.

I was gonna ask if the bush is visible, thank you for answering ahead of time I'm crying, it's like you know me.

Anyway... he gives a long conflicted look to the window ledge too because Reasons (you know), but he can't afford to mope around right now so... he eventually tears himself away and heads up to the roof to check it out too. The drag marks didn't go there but... just in case.

Shuichi makes his way up, no blood or anything overtly suspicious on the stairs, and opens the door to the roof. It's very empty, and there are no railings around the perimeter. If he goes to the edge overlooking the window/bush, somebody could have theoretically fallen from this height and sustained the same amount of damage, whether or not it's more likely than the window.

Time to call Komaeda and make him jump from both to see which lands closer to the bush bc you know the madman would and his luck would probably save him.

Just kidding, he scours the perimeter of the roof itself for anything maybe dropped or forgotten up there, just in case.

But Shuichi decides the difference would be negligible and looks around the roof instead and finds nothing of note besides maybe the little stash of cigarettes your cat man found but no cat to go along with it

Ngl I feel like the body would fall closer to the building if thrown from a window and further if falling from the roof, but idk I'm no physics expert. So it's negligible through the power of rp and Shuichi moves on.

The cigarettes aren't there because Shiraishi came back and picked them up later (unless you're saying the counselor is gonna stab him or invite him home for a real dinner date) so uhhh... Shuichi respectfully closes the door and goes back to the hallway.

The scene is kind of messed up by now so idk how accurate this measure will be, but where do the drag marks... start at the other end? Is it maybe around where Narumi was found lying down, or is it more to the side / away from that?

No you're right, a body would fall closer the lower it starts but only if it's chucked out the window, if they were just rolled out and let drop straight to the ground it probably wouldn't matter

uhh it's more towards the door end of the hall compared to the window end, and at no point does Narumi look to have been dragged around. And by drag marks I mean where the chalk is smudged on the ground, so it isn't one visible unbroken line but a suggestion of such

I love murder school... teaching us informative things like these.

But alright, so from the positioning of things one can probably make the educated guess that Narumi's passed-out body wasn't the one dragged around at any point. How about... the bloodstain... is that anywhere near the smeared portions that suggest something was dragged through the lines?

And also, if Shuichi were to like... crouch down and try to study the direction things smeared in (you know, like when inertia pulls stuff along in the wake of a moving object), could he confirm that it seems to be going *towards* the window rather than away from it?

The blood stain is towards the door end, and then the smear starts through the chalk circles, passing Narumi's body, and up to the window. And yeah, he can see that the direction is towards the window, comparing the smeared chalk to the solid portions on either side.

So with the way things are laid out, is the blood stain close enough to the start of any visible smear signs to reasonably assume MAYBE the same person whose blood that is was either the one being dragged or the one doing the dragging? Or is there still some distance between the blood and the circles that maybe... it isn't conclusive and one should keep that in mind?

It's maybe possible, yes? The blood smear is a bit away from the chalk circles, but it's a short smear and there aren't any other drops of splatters to be found that would suggest active bleeding for a very long time. The circles are both smeared by something being dragged through it and also with footprints of somebody walking around, but in no particular/discernable direction.

OKAY that makes sense, I guess I was wondering since there's a vague direction for the smears, does it look like whatever got dragged was coming *from* the blood, or does it look more like the blood is somewhere on the sidelines while the direction suggested just kinda runs past it?

Idk if this is the actual layout so it's just an example but I thiiink this should illustrate what I mean bc listen... sometimes words alone fail me I'm crying.
