September mini-event pt 2

It's early Friday morning, the silence lifted but still a while before npc students will start coming to school. The door to the student store remains locked, despite always being propped open by a doorstop first thing in the morning, like clockwork. In the pool building, the lights automatically switch on for the day, illuminating the water below.

A large black shape floats in the middle of the pool, air trapped in the fabric wrapped and tangled around it.

INVESTIGATION

Please use the following form for investigation. The relevant locations for this part of the event includes the pool building and elsewhere. There are two main locations, although there may be circumstantial evidence found elsewhere.

Action: Imma be real we all know who this is so I'm not going to bother asking "who's in the fabric" but let's pretend I did so that the audience can gasp in horror

First action: Fishing the body from the pool and unwrapping it. Question because I know nothing actually, is the air trapped because of how the fabric was tied around the body (and therefore is the air let out after the fabric is removed?) or is the air magically maintained because magical students just Be some kinda way?

Second action: The horrible shrieking-sobbing noise that comes from discovering your dead father, followed by the incoherent denial that he could've possibly died and begging for him to wake up, and when that doesn't work...

Third: Assessing body damage - where are wounds/injuries, any damage to the clothing he was wearing? Was there anything on him at the time (spellbook etc)?

Fourth: This is where Noah not fucking cooperating comes in so feel free to ICly fight him on this but

If anyone comes up to Noah with the intent to check the body and touch he's going to get defensive immediately, this is handwaveable but assume he's going to try to deflect any attempts to Touch without permission — basically he's going to make people Ask Him if they can check the body

If he doesn't trust you the answer will be a no by the way, and if the "no" is not taken seriously there will be a fight

If anyone attempts to desecrate the corpse there will be a fight immediately because Noah's That Kid

Action: hi i'm alive to bother you again

I mean, other than looking helplessly at Noah and not really knowing how to comfort him... Shuichi figures the best thing he can do for him right now is find clues, so he's going to look around the rest of the pool building (like lockers / changing rooms) for any evidence that might indicate something happened. (Is the pool's glass ceiling intact--)

Action: Running through the door (if the door is locked she is going to bang on it repeatedly until someone answers...just ruining every students morning) to yell at the nurse that someone is hurt and they need help right now! this is an emergency!

Action: big taps time...aka Helena coming up to strike the ground and do the sonar scan for anything important overlooked, or if there's any hidden threats we should know about. Just covering all the bases.

Action: while Sidney and Childe are Guarding things... he's going to go check Clamor's locker, Lavvy confirmed he'd know the code. He's looking for either the PDA or to see if anything would be missing or otherwise displaced?

Action: Nothing insane (I'm sorry Lavvy) but I realized I don't think we checked out... the actual roof, even if just to clear it of involvement bc all this stuff was in the hallway that literally leads to it. So after catching up with Shin's network post and talking to Komaeda (who mentioned Amami's hand injury) he's going to go up there to look at the scene too.

There were visible marks of something being dragged towards the window, right? Does the trail look like they stopped AT the window or... do they go towards the stairs/door to the roof?

Action: Doing what Saihara needs of him, jumping from the window and the roof respectively. He doesn't even question it, he just hopes the Ultimate Detective is watching!

Location: Nurse's office (Specifically visiting around this time. )
Action: Chatting, misc. things?

Meng Yao's first action is to check that Amami is safe, and then ask him why he called him here, and how he'll be able to best assist Amami?

Action: Ritual type stuff baybeeee

( in hand, komaeda has brought back all the herbs that he took from 1-c during his first run — lavender, peppermint, chamomile, and even the candles. he's setting them down on a table nearby, and natsume's a perfectionist so i'm sure he's here already — )

I brought everything... as for the ashes, how would you like to go about that?

Action: I want to specify this is the last of the actions being done and would be done whenever everything is all pieced together but I didn't want to forget, wheezes softly

Noah's going to give up the body to StuCo for the prize of a gorinto. Rina said that Shuichi would call Maya and ask her to come along for this because and I quote "she actually likes him fsr" LMAO

Action: Noah and Childe are outside... so Komaeda-Arata's able to be with Clamor's body alone... sighs wistfully, it's been so long, but he's being normal! He pays his respects that Clamor is a perfect stepping stone, and that he'll look after Noah while he's absent, and he waits... see if Clamor has any complaints (there are none), and so Komaeda takes over as new dad! Thanks.

➤ First thing's first, Noah's going to give Komaeda-Arata the spellbook, so he's going to flip through the pages to check the handwriting inside to see if it's familiar! ...Is it?

➤ Two, he's going to use Clamor's finger and sweep it over the PDA that Amami gave him... does it open?

Action: I wonder what Amami knows about what happened to Shopkeep-kun...

Location: The currently accessible areas of the school... possibly he's been looking for the past two days.
Action: He might be as yet unaware of the second murder rip but he's been thinking about what Rantaro said about the first and has been looking for evidence or remains of a fire or similar that could burn a body like that... does the school have an incinerator?

Shin looks around, but it doesn't seem as if the school has an incinerator. As of this point, the only room they haven't been able to get into is the science club room, but the door doesn't feel hot and there's no ...whatever incinerators sound like... sounds from behind the door to suggest that's what's inside. The closest thing to an incinerator might be the fireplace in the dorms, but there's nothing notable to be found there.

Action: first off, i know they're not gonna be there, but subaru habitually goes by to at least say good morning (and today, drop off some eggy breakfast) and

its closed. its locked. the only time that is, as far as he knows, when they're out

... so he'll at least knock (i know he won't get anything thanks komaeda) and then after he'll call their name, but if that gets nothing either he'll just. leave the container of sweet scrambled eggs roll by the side of the door and hope no one else comes to eat them. yes this was important

Location: At the pool w/Noah!!
Action: He's been given permission by Noah to peruse the spell book and check for anything that might stick out! He'll check out the bookmarks inside as well. He was in Mission 1 with Clamor, not to mention he's got his own knowledge of magic both from his own studies and some lessons in Occult Club, so Gundham's seen more things Clamor can do than just the bare minimum.

He's also probably asked about where the book was found, and might have a plan to see if they can lure out a perp. Gundham wants to leave a book that's similar in size in the locker with fake bookmarked pages and try to do a stakeout with some people to see if someone goes back for it. It'll look similar in the dark!!!

Gundham flips through the spellbook, and of the bookmarked pages the fire one seems normal, the hex page has things Lucifer's been teaching (eg the one that makes it feel like there's bugs on you but there's no bugs, the binding hex, the sleeping hex), but the most interesting to him would be that spell at the very back in what looks like different handwriting. The spell looks like parts of its is modified, and Gundham may recognize parts of it from the ritual they'd all done to re-bind Kazuki to keep his monster form from escaping and going haywire, but those parts are sloppy and looks more to be the opposite: removing something rather than binding.

He then holds a stakeout.

Location: Pool Building (Exterior)
Action: He knows that sometimes killers tend to linger nearby out of fascination to see the reactions of people who stumble on their handiwork, and so he's just casually whistling to himself as he takes a little stroll around the building. Just kind of looking for any suspicious characters that might be either hiding anywhere nearby or watching the pool from a distance.

If he doesn't find anything, he's going to post up at the entryway and keep guard.

Literally all the pcs coming in and out of this building look suspicious, but not in a "I'm a murderer here to see people's reactions" sort of way. From the way Clamor's body had been left but the rest of the building appears undisturbed, Childe might get the sense that this place was simply a dumping grounds, for whoever to find whenever it happens even if it's days later.

Location: Please take them to the nurses office dont they deserve a bed... but I guess this can happen when nurse-san and sara get to the hallway if elizabeth wants to put the body in a coffin.
Action: What can you tell me about the soulless corpse ori.

Specifically, what do they look like? age, hair color, length, shoe size? do they have their pda on them, does nurse-san recognize them as anyone?

They're still breathing and have a weak pulse, but that's about all the signs of life there is. The nurse identifies the body as "Narumi-kun" from class 3-D. He's a senior with black hair and normal sized feet??? idk, if I had to choose a pb out of the ones I have saved, he would look like this

He has his PDA with him and also in his pockets are house keys, a couple of boring normal rocks you'd find on the side of the road, and one of those flat cherry lollipops you get for being good at the doctor's office

Location: Wandering...
Action: Komeada told them to look for Amami's PDA keychain. Crona has no idea how someone like them is going to find some tiny, common (totally not worth anything as a gift no way) keychain lying around the school but they'll probably walk around nonstop till they see Something.

For as weird as this school is, there isn't a whole lot of somethings when it's before classes start and most all of the transfer students have moved to the dorms and took their things with them. If they're looking for keychains specifically, there are none abandoned to be found.

Location: Fourth Floor, Hallway (void) he'll move into the crime scene proper probably but this is fine for now
Action: Subaru's gonna collect a knife from Somewhere (home ec? exacto from the art club? whichever it easiest) and very bravely cut his hand upstairs..... no it's not easy but he's determined to check something out. if he gotta smash a mirror downstairs he'll cross that bridge when he comes to it. this is his first time in the void be gentle, he just wants to see if there's anything of note here

Blood drips onto the ground and the hallway pitches, going darker and mustier than it already is. Like the rest of the void school, the hallway is old and falling apart, walls charred black with fire and even here in this place, the gorinto rocks lay scattered along the walls.

In this place, nothing of the crime scene remains— no chalk circle, no ring of candles, none of it. It's dark and quiet, cold enough for him to see his breath come out in puffs.

Unless he's brought a mirror with him, he'll have to go downstairs or across to the other side of the school to break a bathroom mirror, but when he leaves the fourth floor hallway, he'll see those shadows of void students walking around, despite it being before classes start in the real world and him seeing no npc students around on the way up here. They won't bother him unless he acts violently towards them or is actively dying, so he'll be able to walk past them unharmed.

Location: Starting in the dorms, at least.
Action: Sara wants Helena to keep doing the thing since we might as well try to track down unholy soul pieces in the meantime...the very first day Helena will ever skip classes but it's for a good cause.

Helena Strikes the ground and can detect what npcs are in the school already, including the nurse, the counselor, the library ghost, and especially npc-kun themselves. ig the wisteria tree will also ping

So. I've been vague about this in tags but I think I need to hammer it down a bit instead of just being 'roster check flavourtext' for sanity's sake.
Shin's been keeping track of the class roster himself ever since Senku showed his log.
At first, using memory and mostly keeping track of appearances.
Then, after Nene mentioning the ghost tree, keeping track of disappearances.
And when they moved into the dorms and discovered the paint can't be removed from the room, taking down the changes on his notebook in that paint (so he might not be remember if nothing stuck out as unusual at the time before that).

Shin also has dates for when Clamor became ??? (Start of second semester, Murder Mystery Meeting) and when Clamor-??? died (17th September, when shit went down, and also Murder Mystery Meeting). Afaik we don't know exactly when ???'s original body died apart from '12th or before' since it floated up later.

Komaeda already investigated outright absences from third year classes and found a Seki Kouji has been missing from them for a while but Shin wouldn't know that since it hasn't been mentioned in a group meeting. I don't know if having a gorinto means your name would still be there either but... probably not?

ANYWAY. This is a lot of rambling to ask; did a single name disappear from the class roster either of those times, and thereby would Shin be able to make a reasonable guess who ??? is?

The names will disappear from the rosters but not immediately after a student dies, and will happen regardless of whether there's a gorinto or not. With students murdering each other behind the scenes, Shin would notice that the rosters do change here and there in general, so there wouldn't be one single name disappearing at exactly those times. Of the list Komaeda has of the missing third years, though, Shin will notice that Fu Hua's name is gone around the 16th.
