September mini-event pt 2

It's early Friday morning, the silence lifted but still a while before npc students will start coming to school. The door to the student store remains locked, despite always being propped open by a doorstop first thing in the morning, like clockwork. In the pool building, the lights automatically switch on for the day, illuminating the water below.

A large black shape floats in the middle of the pool, air trapped in the fabric wrapped and tangled around it.

subaru is here...! off to the side for the moment until he's needed, since he at least knows better than to get in the way of doctors but uh

he is curious about the person

so he's peering as best he can despite two... yes two shin can hang back with him two people sort of in the way. dont expect him to see shit just want to note he is in thread

Shin, after a huge rush of relief seeing everyone, will also hang out here in the 'doesn't know jack about medicine or magic but here in case someone needs a pair of hands anyway' zone. He's giving subaru a sidelong glance like ??? what are you looking for

his eyes catch onto something and he stares first at the glinting object by the window, patting shin on the arm

buddy. can u get that. calm your nerves with a spot of helpfulness

Shin's glance takes on a reflexively brief suspicious cant but he goes to investigate said shiny glittering object...

The glittering object... is a certain dead mage's monocle! to establish that it didn't get lost in the pool. It lies near the window at the end of the hall, having fallen off here instead of outside when Clamor had landed with the book.

[notsosou]

Hm... wait... he recognizes this, from when he and Subaru pestered Clamor about the lava; it's pretty distinctive. He picks it up.

...didn't... hang on... he was a bit busy at the time but Noah said something about... he takes out the PDA and confirms that yep... Clamor is dead. Hh. And with the monocle here, high chance it was the same person who did it...
He debates texting Noah about it on said post but... he can leave this for later when there isn't so much Person Dying and Pool Vengeance going on at the moment. He's not adding onto that right now, and calming down means his tendency to sit on things is slowly returning.

Right now he's going to... look through it at the magic circle, because now that he can actually think he's realizing that... even if it's not some kind of active trap, doesn't mean it wasn't involved. Idk if it's just a normal monocle, but Shin's prone to enough magical thinking he's willing to see if it would show something even as he feels stupid about it.

Shin holds the monocle up to his eye and peers through the glass, and all of the sudden, the hallway blurs—-

...

He lowers the monocle and everything looks normal. Apparently it's prescription.

Feeling very silly, Shin pockets the monocle and heads over to Elizabeth.

Standing off to the side, Subaru's in a better position to notice two things:

a smear of blood nearer the door end of the hallway, and something glinting on the other side near the window

he's

gonna let shin handle the shiny object if only bc his boy has seen enough shocking things today and follow the blood himself. does it look fresh, and does it lead anywhere

The smear is very short, less than a foot across, and doesn't seem to lead anywhere. There are no splatters nor smears anywhere else, just this one wide line of blood a good way away from the chalk circle.

this is weird. but okay. he's gonna note this down... anything else from this new spot?

This seems to be all there is to find!
