MINI-EVENT DISCUSSION TIME [open]
WHO: Everyone!!
WHEN: April 25th, 6PM
WHAT: Who wants to talk about ~murder~?
[There's a strong part of Kokichi that wants to keep everything he's figured out to himself, especially knowing the "winner" of this mystery will gain a ton of bonus points that could throw a serious wrench into his plans. He tends to work alone, after all.
But fortunately, there's a louder, more pragmatic part that knows everyone needs to come together. Whatever the game is here, no rules have been given. It doesn't seem like they're gonna force everyone together to figure things out. And maybe that's the point – no forced teamwork this time around, a prize to discourage people from working together. This whole setup seems designed to have them all working against each other.
Well, fuck that. The status quo is just gonna get more people killed. It's time to herd some cats and get everyone on the same page. If nothing else, it's a way to learn anything others might have figured out, and a chance to see who here has a working brain.]
--–
[Every transfer student will find an unsigned note in their lockers that reads "transfer students meeting @ 6pm 4/25 in classroom 2-C".
When they arrive at the set location and time, they'll find extra desks have been shoved in from other classrooms so there's seating for everyone. On the chalkboard, written in big bubble letters, is "SUPER FUN MURDER DISCUSSION PARTY TIME!!" with some goofy doodles around the edges. This is very serious, guys. One corner of the room has a square taped off on the floor with a single desk situated inside it, a sign taped to it reading "Crazy Containment Zone". A piece of paper on the desk says "reserved for Komaeda".
No one takes credit for organizing everything. But regardless, it's time to have a discussion.]
((HOW THIS WORKS:
- This post is a free for all! Feel free to start your own threads to discuss any clue/topic/theory/random outburst you want. Jump into any thread anywhere, no need to keep things tidy and continuous. This is gonna be a big group crammed into a classroom all talking at once, so just embrace the chaos.
- Please let the people who discovered clues OOCly be the ones to reveal them ICly! You can assume things have already been explained for the sake of discussing other clues and proposing theories and whatnot, just please don't steal anyone's thunder when it comes to explaining the things their characters figured out!
That's it! Let me know if you have any other concerns or guidelines to consider adding, just shoot me a PM or hit me up on plurk or discord! Have fun!))

Buuuuuuut all of that gets thrown out the window because Hinata now has one (1) Ouma Kokichi attached to him like a limpet. Sucks to be him!]
Ouma- [Hinata practically chokes his name out.] What the hell is wrong with you, get off of me-!
[After a minute, Ouma is... still probably hanging off of him, he hates it here, but he'll manage to speak a little easier (albeit a bit strained).]
I'm not... trespassing on anything, this is literally just a group of desks with taped up signs. [He'll wave at the desks with an almost... disappointed look on his face.] I'm just intervening to make sure Komaeda stays here so the rest of us can figure out what's going on. That's it.
no subject
( what a delight to have the ultimate supreme leader here to ruin hinata's chances at sticking his nose into something that doesn't involve him. in response to the way the youth latches, komaeda laughs softly as he waves one mechanical arm in his direction. their exchanges are reasonable, ouma asking a question that caters to only him and whoever else follows it and hinata answering with the most obvious statement — this is something he'd do, make them sound like idiots for even having done it in the first place. )
No, no... You're not that either.
( komaeda brings a hand to his chin, rubbing it softly as his eyes glances at ouma, and then to hinata before their final destination is on the floor. )
The Ultimate Caretaker would be very unlike you with how you treat me, Hinata-kun.
( actually the truth behind that is... anyway, komaeda doesn't linger on it as he stares at those who are bringing up important topics — places they should go, information they should retrieve. it's interesting, and even komaeda has half the mind of getting up, but instead, he stays in place with a warm smile. at least he's acting like there wasn't anything going on between them, but knowing ouma, who knows how much he's picked up — besides, komaeda wouldn't expect less from the ultimate supreme leader. )
no subject
Kokichi is indeed still hanging there – on his tiptoes, at least, he's not making Hinata bear the full weight of his whole 97lbs – and he makes a face at Komaeda being fucking weird before suddenly adopting a pout.]
How mean, I thought we were friends... And here I just wanted to make sure you weren't bullying poor Komaeda-chan...
[A dramatic sigh, but then the pout falls away and he gives them both a sly look even as he leans against Hinata's arm like a cute, innocent little kid.]
I mean, things were sounding preeetty intense over here!
[He doesn't need to specify to what extent or exactly how much he heard. Sometimes ambiguity and leaving it up to one's imagination is more effective.]
no subject
[If it is his talent, somehow, Hinata will be shocked.]
Friends or not, I don't want anybody jumping on my back... [He rolls his shoulders, like that's actually going to work. Mores the pity.] I'm not bullying him, though. Nobody here besides me knows just what he's capable of, and I want to keep it that way.
[He knows he's taking on too much, probably, like Inaba had said. It shouldn't be his responsibility, he doesn't want this responsibility.
But if he doesn't, who will?]
I don't want to make a commotion. But if that means I have to stay over here the rest of the meeting, that's what I'll do.
no subject
Ouma-kun, I wouldn't stay around him. ( his voice is soft, worried about the other even though he's not explaining the reason behind it. ) If you catch what he has, you might not be an Ultimate Supreme Leader anymore.
( and that's the last thing they want! of course, his eyes lift back towards hinata to read his expression, waiting to see if it'll change or remain strong as normal. )
I know it gets tiring being around me, Hinata-kun, I don't mind if you leave. ( is komaeda starting to get up from his desk..... musical chairs have been his little game since he's been here. ) Don't let me force you to stay here.
no subject
[Are you suggesting he might actually do something worse, Hinata? That's concerning. Kokichu maintains a vapidly curious expression, but he's making some mental notes.
But then as Komaeda starts to get up, Kokichi mercifully releases Hinata and, in a smooth motion, slides around the desk and sits himself down on Komaeda's lap. Sure, Komaeda could probably toss him off easy and continue standing, but would he?
Carelessly, like he didn't just remind everyone of Komaeda's batfuckery, he just dismisses that friendly advice with a wave.]
Jeez, you guys are so dramatic. Everyone's trying to have a nice time, y'know! Can't you just get along?
[ ouma they are discussing a murder ]
no subject
He did what.
[It's delivered so flatly that the question mark just kind of... dies an untimely death somewhere in the middle of it all. See, this is why Hinata can't take his eyes off him for even a minute.
He feels his nails dig into his palms, a sinking feeling in his chest. If he'd done something different... If he hadn't freaked out so badly after seeing the bodies. If he'd said something different to Komaeda over spring break when he'd first come to his senses-
But what he was afraid of has already started. Nothing's come of it yet, but Hinata was already too late to stop that from being set in motion.]
There's no fun to be had, Ouma. Two girls are already dead. [He'll say at as bluntly as possible, then. For the words that come next, he looks right into Komaeda's eyes as he says them.] Komaeda used to do that sort of thing before, too. And that doesn't bother you at all?
[Those words should just be to Ouma... and yet Hinata doesn't break eye contact with Komaeda as he says it, oddly enough.]
no subject
he doesn't say anything, no one's talking to him anyway, this seems to be a topic between hinata and ouma, and he doesn't mind. instead his eyes will wander, but it's an obvious tell of where they'll land — they have always paid attention to hinata. it's just the rule of thumb of how komaeda works or has always worked since he met him. curious about him, interested in what he's capable of, and though his questions have already been answered, he's unable to keep his eyes off him. he notices various things from the way his fists clench, and it makes him wonder how deep the nails sink into his flesh leaving behind crescent marks. his attention stays there for only a moment until his gaze slowly rises, and with how the question's framed.
it's to ouma, obviously, but why does hinata stare at him so... )
It's all in the name of hope.
( it's that self-righteous attitude of his, the one where he won't even change his mind because if he didn't change it then, like hell he's willing to change it now. the death of the students was just a stepping stone, and now look what has come of it? )
Friendships formed, bonds growing stronger... If it wasn't for this, watching Ultimates grow adjusted to this lifestyle with pathetic, untalented — ( his eyes are sharper now as he looks at hinata, but it can be easily dismissed due to komaeda's passionate outlook on hope. ) ordinary beings would have been painful. ( he sighs deeply enough that pieces of ouma's hair moves. )
It's a good thing this happened... I wouldn't have had it any other way.
( at the end of his little... insane explanation, he does smile softly at hinata, almost waiting to be agreed with. do not fail him. as they say, if you can't beat them, join them! ) Hmm... Or would you two rather kill me instead? The more bodies, the faster everyone will take action!
no subject
Out of the loop, huh? You should start paying more attention! Especially if you're gonna act like keeping this freak under control is your responsibility. You're not doing a very good job so far.
[And as if in direct demonstration of how Hinata should be handling things, Kokichi rolls his eyes at Komaeda's creepy rambling and blindly lifts a hand over his head to cover Komaeda's mouth.]
Knock it off already... Can't you see you're just distracting us when we're supposed to be solving a murder? I mean, two girls are dead already!
[Echoing the incredulous scolding Hinata had just been throwing at him, he manages to sound just as incredulous himself, like he hadn't just been making light of the subject himself.]
If you reeeaaally wanted to support our hope or whatever, then you wouldn't be splitting our like this! You'd be on your hands and knees begging for a chance to be helpful! But instead, you're wasting the Ultimate Detective's time while he deals with your crazy shit. And, y'know...my time right now, since I've gotta explain this to you. Who do you think you are, huh?
no subject
But instead, Hinata's expression turns into something... thoughtful. Almost melancholy.
Slowly, he'll reach for where Komaeda is holding onto Ouma (like a weirdo, he'd grimaced in sympathy at Ouma's face)... and places his hand on top of his.]
I already told you. [His voice is quiet, almost unexpectedly calm, and that light is present in his eyes again if only for a moment.] I'm not going to let you die.
[He looks at Komaeda for a long moment, before he breaks eye contact to shut his eyes and sigh. He isn't annoyed with Ouma right now - far from it. But he feels... guilt. He isn't doing a very good job.
But he can't do anything to fix what's already done. He can only go forward.]
...Ouma. [When Hinata meets his eyes, he smiles, small but warm.] You're right. Thank you, for doing what I should've done. For doing what I couldn't, while I was too caught up in my own head. From here on, I'll take on more of that responsibility.
[He knows he can't be everywhere at once, much as he'd like to. Hinata knows there will be times that he can't monitor every single action Komaeda takes. But he owes it to the rest of the transfer students to at least guard them from the one thing he knows.
The best thing he can do to beat Komaeda at his game, however, is to learn the truth as swiftly as possible to match him. That's been his only real play, even back on Jabberwock, so it probably is the same now even if they're out of their element. It's this reasoning, that makes him finally take a seat at the neighboring desk.
It's only a piece of information, but it's the best thing Hinata can start with.]
You said there's an Ultimate Detective. [He directs to Ouma, gaze only briefly leaving him to travel quickly across the room.] I'm guessing that has to be somebody here, right?
no subject
even now, he still harbors mixed feelings with the other that he's unable to properly put into place, it shows as komaeda really doesn't pay him any mind. their relationship's complicated all for the sake of talent, and the information that he has regarding what he knows of hinata's truth. that said, he should be satisfied knowing in the future, he'll become everything that komaeda has adored from the start of his life and there's no need for this behavior. sadly, it weighs on him that the person now isn't exactly the person then, and komaeda's brain functions incorrectly to properly accept that despite the few minor differences.
there's nothing that can be said at the moment, and as soon as the attention is taken off him, komaeda exhales into ouma's palm unable to properly think. instead, he acts rather, because he's aware of how long the ultimate has kept his hand in this position and seems to be hitting it off well with hinata. as the ultimate lucky student, he does find it unlucky for the situation that he's in and he responds accordingly — he should help with explanations too, right? komaeda closes his eyes in a display of sitting there to reflect on his actions, well, that's until his mouth parts and the wetness of his tongue drags along the inside of ouma's hand. wherever ouma's fingers have been — it doesn't really matter to komaeda since he's complete trash and would eat out the hand of any ultimate — know that he's leaving a really thick trail of saliva in his wake as he does so. )
no subject
Kokichi never breaks eye contact with Hinata, but it's probably obvious enough what Komaeda has done by the disgusted expression that crosses over Kokichi's face. He pulls his hand away, only to blindly wipe it off on whatever part of Komaeda's face he manages to reach. Cheek, nose, whatever. It's his own saliva, he can deal with it.
Without missing a beat, he carries right on with his conversation, like the dude he's smearing spit on isn't even worth acknowledging. Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if this guy gets off on being treated like that anyway.]
You don't know?
[And with his newly wiped-clean hand, he points across the room to where Shuichi is currently presumably trying to keep things on track in this mess of a meeting. God, Kokichi never thought he'd miss class trials, but here we are.
He rolls his eyes, chattering on casually.]
I guess I'm not surprised. My beloved Saihara-chan's soooooo humble, y'know? He's not the type to brag.
[Unlike other people who drop that shit on a first meeting.]
no subject
But quite suddenly, that's the furthest thing from his mind. Surprise blooms on his face like a flower.]
The Ultimate Detective... is Saihara? [His tone is notably stunned, but it's layered with a quiet softness. However, that shock gives way to a gentle smile as he looks at Saihara discussing things with the others across the room.] ...No, of course that makes sense. Of course it would have to be Saihara.
[It makes him feel... at ease. Like things will be okay, now.]
I'm guessing you two knew each other before?
no subject
considering the topic of conversation, komaeda will take a look in saihara's direction, and then glance at hinata, and then glance at the back of ouma's head. that level of fondness should be given to an ultimate, and because hinata chose the correct way of responding to his newfound knowledge, komaeda remains silent.
for a few seconds because he thought if something to say, actually. )
He has a talent that we all can be proud of, ( now whether that was him coming at hinata or not is up in the air, but he does have a smile on his face as he says so. ) ...his hope in raw form is as blinding as others.
( that said, he's pinching at ouma's sides now, as if referring to his talent as well. are you ticklish... will it get him off komaeda's lap? here's to learning. )
And there are others who aren't so bright. ( he's looking at hinata, and the sound of his voice is slightly disappointed compared to his eyes which seem... sad. where the fuck is your heterochromia. it only lasts for a split second until he focuses on something else important: komaeda's grip on ouma's waist is perfect now as he proceeds to try and pick him up off his lap. is he able to set him gently down on the table?
roll for initiative. )
no subject
Or maybe that's just from listening to Komaeda babble on. This weirdo is saying some nonsensical shit again. Kokichi gives Hinata a look from Komaeda's lap, a sort of exasperated commiseration, can you believe this guy?? But he carries right on as if Komaeda hadn't said anything.]
Yup. We were in the same class. Oh, and Saihara-chan is also my lover, obviously!
[A wide grin.]
But that's a lie. He totally hates my guts.
[And that's about the point here Komaeda is attempting to tickle him into submission, but he doesn't have such an obvious weak spot. Please, that's his kind of tactic. He won't be defeated so easily by shit like that.
However, the latter attempt works just fine. Kokichi is small and light and easily lifted and set aside. Not that he's really trying to resist anyway. Whoops. Well, guess responsibility for keeping the crazy under control falls back to Hinata. Do your best!]
