i'm getting a good grade in yogen lore, which is something normal people definitely try to get

When: Friday, October 1st
What: It's time for a little lecture. And a genuine information meeting. But mostly a lecture.

Yogen and You: A Quick Summary
Held by Natsume Sakasaki
For those who need a summary of events, whether because our meetings rarely get anything done in terms of information sharing or because you're freshly awakened. Come around dinner time for food, enlightenment, and the opportunity to share your troubles with those going through the same thing.
The room will be locked all day until about half an hour before six, at which point it will become unlocked... this is primarily for Natsume to set up a table of food, but people can come sit in early if they like. There's an overhead projector that's been wheeled into the study hall all the way from school, and the curtains are drawn over the windows. It isn't dark though, since he still has the lights turned on...
Several tables have been pushed together to make at least three groups, chairs around them like they've been readied for a dinner party, while a few more are pushed a little further back and have absolutely no chairs whatsoever; those are for the food. There's also a chair by the overhead projector.
Your food and drink for tonight: lemon and rosemary roasted shrimp, white rice, rosemary and thyme chicken, a make-your-own-salad area with all kinds of salad-making ingredients, three types of eggrolls (seafood, vegetable, and pork), and various drinks from the vending machine because some of us can afford to spend a bunch of merit points on things like that.
When a sufficient amount of people have come in, or the clock hits 6:05, Natsume shuts the door, turns off the lights, and moves to the overhead projector. To stand on the chair, so he's the tallest person in here, and claps his hands to get people's attention. )
Save all questions and outbursts until the END, ( he says, and then kneels down on the chair and flicks the projector on.
All of the slides are pre-written on some transparent sheets that project onto a wall without windows, which he reads one by one without rushing! But for ease of reading OOCly, you can find the entire thing here. There's also photocopied handouts for people on all of the tables, stapled of course, so people who aren't blind (sorry Helena) can follow along at home!
He lets the last sheet stay up, his face half-illuminated by the overhead projector, then sits down in the chair and leans forward the back of it like some kind of delinquent. )

( is that a compliment or just a jab at his work, it can go either way, but he's not going to explain thoroughly, instead he'll rest one hand on his hip as he looks to the other. from top to bottom, komaeda nods to himself as he thinks of the best way to explain this, well very simply that he thinks the other could understand. )
This place is neither Heaven or Hell, but a purgatory for us to reincarnate back to our lives where we left off at... Well, that's if you're a third year — second and first have no business thinking about that chance, and should place their focus elsewhere.
( he was told that, but it's not like hell abide by those rules, but he finds it interesting how others seem to spin it when they're told that. ) But you're right, there's been clarification from people who knows this place better than us... we had to die for this information over, and over again! Pretty fun way to find out, right?

Hmm, well alright then. Interesting that had been said in the first place - or at least I assume it was explained that way.
[ What a foolish thing it is to think that people wouldn't try anyway. But in the end, despite the fact he partially feels that himself, and as final as that comment in that presentation, it's good that it was discussed. ]
...that is one way to put it. It isn't exactly my idea of a good time, either way.

( the other may wear a sheepish smile, but as far as komaeda's concerned, he wants to know how the other will go about things now. he understands that opening their eyes meant coming to the truth of things that seemed farfetched, and luckily the other is taking this better than most. some people can't believe they're dead, and others don't want to be dead, so it's a good thing his attitude soaks this all up like a sponge, willing to take in the information. )
This is great, actually... now it gives everyone the chance to show what they're capable of, people held back because they'd die, but knowing we're wandering souls that are already dead! What's stopping you from just going a step further?
( he pauses, inhaling slowly as he keeps his eyes on the other, and then glances off to the side to stare at a few people here. ) You should be a little more positive, it'd do no good to drag others down.

Nothing about this feels acceptable. I think it's something we've simply been putting up with for a long while.

Though one of the things he knows he's good at (among many) is doing what he can to succeed. So, he'll continue to do that. He'll somehow earn his way to get reincarnated back to where he was at that specific time and place, and continue off where he was left off to get the recognition he deserves, among other things. It's fine.
It gets him back on track for the moment and he allows the sheepish smile to seamlessly shift to something that feels more comfortable; amiable.
There's a pause on his part as he listens to Komaeda continue to speak nevertheless. ]
Though I'm a little nervous to wonder what you mean by 'a step further', but...I've faced what were essentially impossible odds before, and managed to make it work better than I'd ever imagined. The fact that we're still looking towards an uncertain future with odds that don't even come close to skewing in our favor...well, that isn't really a detriment, I believe. With everyone clearly doing what they can, how could I do anything but my best?

( he's confident in these words, expressing them in a low voice so that no one can hear, and this praise is placed between just them two. with a hand to his own chest, he nods as he thinks about what happened in the room, and though he couldn't see everything like natsume did — he has a hunch of what happened, and that was exciting for the moment, even though that darkness grazed his cheek, instilling him with anger for a brief moment. )
You can't slow down, or you'll lose sight of where you're going, but I'm glad to see you've been on the move.
( you can say that meng yao's words are reassuring to komaeda, giving him little hope that he doesn't have to worry about the other when it comes to what's next. with a hand on his hip, he lifts the other was a small wave like he's batting away the thought so they can move onto another topic. sadly, komaeda just likes to make conversation if anything, and so he talks with his hands. )
Don't let me make you nervous, everything I do is for the group's hope after all, it's the same as last time. ( at the death match, his thoughts are still the same. )

So few people are still unable to see what kind of world exists in a battle between the spirit and such things. It's an interesting thought, that even if it may be true that they arrived here when they died, people's "perception" of the beyond is much the same as it is when they were alive.
Still, he looks appreciative of the praise. He can't help it. ]
Well, I am honored that you believe so.
[ Meng Yao will just leave it at that, and then move onto the next point just as easily. It comes with experience, though the words the other spoke does harken back to when they witnessed that match so long ago. ]
Komaeda, I may not know you very well just yet, but I don't doubt that you do. You've a rather unique way of assisting, though I also don't doubt it's efficiency. I look forward to that continuing to remain the case.

( that's all there is to it, that's the assisting that he's willing to do considering he's been asked to help with a certain task. though he doubts anyone will listen, he doesn't mind dropping some sort of hint for one person to pick up, or anyone who is probably listening to the conversation from the side. )
There's no need to look forward to what I'll do, but as long as you keep your eyes open... you're doing better than most.
( he crosses his arms with a warm smile, nodding to himself because most people here aren't accepting very well, or they're scared of accepting. they can't accept this as death or a second chance at "life", but no one is stopping them from moving forward, but if someone that's part of their ranks (meng yao) happens to carry an understanding of what he's learned, perhaps he can help passing it onto others. )
If you could help their hope too, it'd help make things work out in your favor.

This is about to be a very long meeting, isn't it...
Well, either way, Meng Yao doesn't blame them. He's kind of just pushing through it himself, which probably isn't all that healthy. But if he wants to succeed in everything that he does and be in more control of how others see him, does he really have any other choice? It's worked before, it works now, and at the end of the day when he is successful he'll be able to look back with a sense of satisfaction. ]
I think it's only natural that some will handle this better than most. Though it is admittedly a small number just due to the nature of this revelation.
[ There's a small pause. ]
Of course. We're all in this together, as much as this place tries to make us believe otherwise.

( because as meng yao can see, there's some people here who aren't taking this so well, and while he can't leave this job to only him — he'll probably get it done without komaeda requesting it. people are just so sensitive when it comes to things they don't understand. of course, he doesn't allow that to be their only topic of conversation. )
Even your time with Amami-kun has rewarded us with such shining efforts, that's why I believe such an attitude will do nicely.
( and that's why he wants to ask about this. ) That said... the day within the nurse's office, what was it that attacked us... I assume you understand the workings of it well.

...Ah, that. You're right that I do understand some of it.
[ He says that without thinking, his first instinct here to be humble rather than anything. ]
At the time, I'd been more uncertain in the beginning, and I believe it was because that...thing had mixed so deeply within that other person's being. But once I'd been able to remove it, I think there's a few things it could've been. Even if I've not really a definite answer at this time, given its appearance once it'd been extracted was a bit unconventional from what I'd expected.
Regardless, the state of it seemed much more like a powerful resentful ghost, though one that seemed like it would be more inclined towards...a more base level of sorts. More instinctual, maybe—or rather, animalistic.
Given the level of intensity behind this negative energy, it is lucky I had dealt with it when I did.

( that he was there because if he wasn't, where was the ghost supposed to go? he isn't sure, but he guesses that it tried to find another suitable body when making a small detour. it's probably that it didn't account for meng yao to do something, and so, it had to did what it could. komaeda has read his fair share of possession novels, but never has he really seen it up close, and the information he takes out of it could help him in the long run. )
It's like a fit of despair, ah... a little stupid considering it works off instincts than common sense.
( but why is that? questions for another day, he guesses, considering possession was done by one spirit that had sense, and then there was whatever that was trapped within the shopkeeper's body. )
I wonder if it's truly gone... or if there's more where that one came from... Is that the first one you've seen here?

[ There's a chance to find a quicker opening with a resentful ghost in his opinion because they're easier to deal with, less powerful, and there's a chance of communication with it that can even end without having it move on without necessitating a cultivator's weaponry to force it to.
This creature? No dice. ]
I didn't see it escape the room when it attempted to possess others, so I'm leaning towards the fact that it must've dissipated, not having enough energy to remain, though I won't commit to it just in case. Unfortunately, I'm also disinclined to say that there aren't anymore like that creature. Even if it's the first we've seen of such a thing.
To be quite honest, the image of that negative energy manifesting in like a sharp and dark, rusted broken glass made me also think of it like some sort of cursed artifact, though if that were the case it'd have left something physically behind to be seen by all.
