October Event

10/02 06:12

✽ Silence lifts at six in the morning, and there is still quite a bit of time before classes start. Early risers who decide to return to school from the dorms cross the courtyard and open the double doors and—- something cold and wet drips down onto their head: old blood from the torso of a student(?) bound by rope and strung up above the doors to the courtyard, body burned black and cut in half at the waist.
The air is heavy, and the entire school smells of blood.

Hope... month...

✽ A large poster advertising the student store has been tacked up on the bulletin board. For October, store hours are now 6AM to 8PM Monday to Saturday, and noon to 4PM on Sundays. Outside of those hours, the shopkeeper is occasionally in the shop and will leave the door propped open if they are, but more often than not, the door is closed and there is no answer when knocking on the door. Laundry tokens can now be purchased at a reasonable price. The rock gacha machine is now located just outside the door so it can be played at any time. Please continue to spend your hard-eared points on plain boring normal rocks.
✽ In the dormitory, the construction paper covering the oil paintings start to soak through with blood, causing the papers to grow heavy and fall. The distorted faces in the paintings seem to be bleeding from their open wounds, the canvas wet to the touch and smelling of blood. Blood dripping down the walls and on the floor do not cause the dorms to change, nor do the splatters of blood seen on the glass over the star dormitory rooms occasionally throughout the month, as if it had rained blood in the darkness and silence of night, although no other evidence is seen elsewhere in the courtyard.
✽ The wisteria tree slowly continues to lose its petals, and the area roughly ten feet around the trunk of the tree has become completely dead and barren, leaving dry dirt underneath. Despite shedding its petals, new buds are becoming noticeable now too. The spider lilies that bloomed during the autumnal equinox remain, still covering the rest of the courtyard and extending into the forest surrounding the school. Outside, the air smells faintly metallic at all times.
✽ Occasionally throughout the month and increasing in frequency and intensity towards the end of the month, characters with 13 or more tallies will find themselves sensitive to sunlight and loud noises, prone to vertigo upon standing or turning too quickly, and suffering ice pick headaches throughout the day.
✽ Characters with 5 or less tallies will hear faint white noise during the normally silent hours of midnight to 6AM, but no other sound.
✽ The class roster on the bulletin board acknowledges class 1-D for leading the rest of the classes in rank, being the first to reach 100. All characters in first year classes and #-D classes will receive 500 merit points and will be able to exit out the front door to the school. They will be able to make it up to the front gate, but will find themselves growing lightheaded and about to pass out if they try to squeeze through the bars or climb over the gate itself. Please contact me privately if they would try to get out anyways.
✽ The void in the auditorium continues to grow, and (pending character interaction) by the end of the month will encompass the entire right wing of the first floor past the lockers, the home ec cooking room on the second floor, as well as the art club room on the third floor.

Exchange Program

✽ On October 11, students participating in the exchange program are given one pocket knife each and sent out the front doors, upon which they will find themselves in that canon location as if they had stepped out of any normal door in the area. For characters who visit their own canon's location, they will find all their friends and family alive and happy— except for the one person they are closest to, who will be absent. Nobody there will recognize your character or the person they are closest to, regarding both as complete strangers, as if neither have ever existed in the first place. But otherwise... think of it as canon good end, in contrast to elevator bad end.
✽ There is no bus to take them back to Yogen and they can stay as long as they'd like, even forever if they feel like it. If they wish to return to their real home, though, they would have to first return to Yogen and figure things out from there. The first time they open the pocket knife, they will find a piece of paper tucked between the blade and the handle reading "Use to return." If they use it on other people, that's the local law enforcement's business. In order to return to Yogen, perhaps remembering Natsume's presentation mentioning how they got there in the first place, they will have to use the knife on themselves, or otherwise die by happenstance or, eventually, old age. Two weeks after their return to school, they will find one additional tally on the inside of their wrist.
✽ In return, Yogen receives three exchange students: two familiar and one not.

OOC

✽ The first prompt leads into this month's mini-event, which is becoming a misnomer, maybe they should be called murder events instead.
✽ All students leaving on the exchange program will icly be gone for at least 10/11 - 10/17, although they will be able to return at any later date in October, at the player's discretion, regardless of how much time they experienced on their trip. Just like in the bad end elevator and the void school, nothing physical can be taken back from the exchange trip, but characters can at least drain their bank accounts eating good food and exploring town before coming back.
✽ The new exchange students are former npcs Kouji Seki and Chiaki Kudo, as well as a new student ???. They can be interacted with in their corresponding toplevels below, after 10/11.

[There's the usual brief moment of surprise that comes with being asked to "talk," followed very quickly by an imperceptible raising of the guard. Childe isn't sure if he's gotten into trouble with Noah for anything in particular, but the tone seems to suggest he has. Therefore he's a bit wary, despite the fact that the expression he gives the boy is... Confused, but pleasant.

He's got a lot of things to worry about Noah catching onto, after all, so it doesn't take long to decide to play it casual.]

Sure. What's on your mind, kid?

Back in May, [Childe you better have good memory,] we spoke in front of the auditorium. What did we talk about?

[If this sounds like a teacher grilling a kid, it's because it is, only just reverse the ages. Per the typical "grilling" of an adult to a child (or a child to an adult, really), Noah has another question to follow that up with.

Don't have a heart attack in the meanwhile, Childe.]

[It's an odd little question to just be asked out of the blue, although not entirely out of the ordinary he supposes. There's a quirk upwards of his left eyebrow, then he's humming thoughtfully and lacing his hands together behind his head.]

We talked about a few things, I remember it being a rather lengthy conversation after all. A couple topics come to mind; is there one you're looking to revisit in particular? [To his credit, that's kind of a broad question considering they discussed everything from "Don't jump into the Void" to "My brother is dead." Either way, his body language is definitely more relaxed than it had been a brief moment prior]

[ENGAGE SUSPICIOUS SQUINTING]

...Yeah, we did. Let me clarify, then. We spoke about the void in the auditorium — can you tell me the specifics of what we talked about?

[Childe's casual posture checks out, at least, but anyone would be able to copy that pose. Mimicking physical actions is easy when you've stared at someone long enough.]
devouringdeep: (16)

[personal profile] devouringdeep 2021-10-03 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a slight, questioning incline to his head as he looks Noah over, matching the sus-squints with a slight narrowing of his own eyes. Not in irritation, the physical tic is more along the lines of confused curiosity. He'll play along with the twenty questions, though.]

Hm, well... [There's a thoughtful exhale drifting past his lips, head tilting back to eye the ceiling as he does his best to recall specifics. His mind was a bit goopy back then, after all.] I had planned to jump in to see what would happen, and you made me promise that I wouldn't.
silentabyss: (074)

[personal profile] silentabyss 2021-10-04 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct.

[Noah nods, but he's not quite satisfied yet. It could be an easy guess, what with Childe's outward and obvious fascination with the void, and Noah's whole "nooo don't do reckless shit aha" thing that he does. Only Noah can do reckless things thanks.]

I told you back then that there might be something in the void, because it's similar to the one back where I come from. There's a certain type of monster that comes from being corrupted by the void there — I told you what it was called. Do you recall what I said?
devouringdeep: (how are you so fucking hot im goin feral)

[personal profile] devouringdeep 2021-10-04 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Joke's on you, Noah, Childe's a very attentive ride-or-die kind of bitch. It takes a brief couple of seconds to recall the proper terminology, and he replies with a soft hum.]

Henrir mutants? Henir? Something along those lines. [There's a pause, and then an excited grin is sliding onto his face] Why? Did you find some in the Void after all? Do you need my help? Can you need my help?
silentabyss: (006)

don't hit me with that hot-ass icon sir

[personal profile] silentabyss 2021-10-04 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[...okay you know what, Noah was definitely going to ask a follow-up question but this bitch is definitely Childe. There's no way this is not Childe, because no one can impersonate that sly fightsexual grin. Not a single damn person.]

...alright, you're good.

[Noah pauses and looks Childe over one last time, though, just to be certain.]

Henir, by the way. Um... no, I didn't find anything in the void, sorry. I was just... [another second passes, and Noah sheepishly looks elsewhere,] ...I wanted to make sure you're real. Not... a doppelganger.
devouringdeep: (Default)

you're the first to get hit with it congratulations

[personal profile] devouringdeep 2021-10-04 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[There is a flash of disappointment, although it's quickly swept aside once the revelation of just why he's being interrogated comes to light. He hesitates, looking Noah over for a moment before he's lowering his arms and pressing his hands into his pockets. Outwardly he looks... Well not fine, but he at the very least seems to be... Sort of? Coping?

He get's the impression that on the inside the kid is barely being held together by a thread, though.]

Tell you what. Why don't we come up with a secret codeword that only the two of us know? That way you don't have to go through the trouble each time, okay? That should make things easier on you.
silentabyss: (045)

[personal profile] silentabyss 2021-10-04 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[That is absolutely the truth, considering he's been talking to an empty weapon for the past week. But no, he's fine and he doesn't need help or therapy or whatever. Everything is going just fine and the thread holding Noah together is absolutely not frayed and absolutely not about to snap.

He's good :)]

Uh...? O-okay, yeah, we can... we can do that. Maybe something from Sne... Snez...

...

Your homeland, [he tried] since no one but you can pronounce those words. And I'll just have to try my best, I guess.

Snezhnaya. [He brightens just the slightest bit at the mention of his homeland, although there's a bit of restlessness that comes along with it. He's worried about what's going on back there, and the complications following his... Well, his death.] Good try, though. You've gotta go a bit more nasally on the vowels. Anyway, that sounds like a good idea. How about...

[He takes a good few seconds to mull it over, fidgeting with the coin in his pocket as he does.] Zavoyevatel' is the word in my native tongue that means conqueror, although that might be a bit tough to pronounce without practice. Morepesok is easier, and is the name of the village of my birth.

Though it was on the exchange program list, so it's not exactly the most secure of secrets... [He's back to thinking, brow creasing a bit in concentration as he runs through as many ideas as possible as quickly as he can.] Can you say... Krsnik Noc? It's a holiday we celebrate.
silentabyss: (078)

[personal profile] silentabyss 2021-10-05 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Snezhnaya. Right.

So, Noah mentally asks himself, why are all the words Childe says so hard to fucking say? Noah tries his best to repeat "Zavoyevatel" in a quiet whisper, and it comes out something like "Zavoyell?" before Childe moves on and Noah takes that as a hint to give up. "Morepesok" comes out a little too accented, "more-pes-sock", there's a sock in your village now Childe.]

...uh. [Well he can sure try it.] Kris... no, Krs...nick knock? Krsnik... Noc. ...yeah, that's fine.

...what kind of holiday is it?

[personal profile] devouringdeep 2021-10-05 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
[remember the other day when zach got mad at me during dnd for asking the npc for his name. that's me @ u rn asking me about the snezhnayan holiday we've never seen in game.]

Close enough! I can write it down for you if you need me to. [He looks quite pleased to be talking about Snezhnaya, though; he was often sent abroad now that he claimed the rank of Harbinger, so he rarely - if at all - ever got to go back home, and he missed it terribly. More so now of all times, and he's practically buzzing in anticipation now that he's been given the opportunity to visit. Soon. He's counting down the days until the exchange program.]

It's a celebration of the summer solstice! A time to spread joy and hope, to celebrate being with the ones you love most. [He lets out a soft, wistful sigh.] The children would weave flower crowns and give them to the sea to tell their fortunes, while the aspiring warriors would leap tall bonfires and walk across the embers to gain favor and otherworldly protection. Just... A week full of dancing, singing... And stuffing yourself to the brim with the best food you could possibly imagine.
silentabyss: (076)

[personal profile] silentabyss 2021-10-05 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No, don't write it down. If one of us gets impersonated, I don't want anyone to find it.

[Noah listens intently to the tale, though. More than anything, he looks curious, especially when Childe mentions walking across embers. Doesn't that hurt?]

Have you done that? The... leaping over the bonfire and walking on embers? It sounds like something you would do.

[It's Childecore.]
devouringdeep: (ᵔᴥᵔ)

[personal profile] devouringdeep 2021-10-05 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You could eat the paper after memorizing it.

[He's not actually gonna let Noah do this. He does laugh at the question though, sheepishly amused at how easily he's been found out.] Of course. Both of them, many times. Not at my youngest, of course. But after... [Thoughts return to his time in the Abyss, alongside it the familiar pang of restless wanderlust.]

Well. After. Before my father sent me to the army, they had to pry me out of line to keep me from continuously pitting myself against the flame. It's quite fun! Though it hurts if you lack the technique.
silentabyss: (004)

[personal profile] silentabyss 2021-10-09 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Listen, Childe, if you get horny for the void in front of Noah, he's going to think you want to jump over bonfires and walk on hot coals too, especially because you taught him fighting techniques too sir.]

...your father sent you to the army? How old were you?

[Children being soldiers is not uncommon on Elrios, and Harque was slated to be one of the Big Guardians of the Wellbeing of the Entire World at an extremely young age, not to mention some of the El Priestesses back home are literally fourteen. Noah's tone therefore isn't sad or accusatory or even uncomfortable, but curious; how interesting is it that someone else comes from a world were being conscripted into military situations by one's own parents isn't weird?]
devouringdeep: (Default)

[personal profile] devouringdeep 2021-10-09 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Who knows, that one might actually be a kink. Maybe he likes the feeling of proccing vaporize.

He pauses thoughtfully at the inquiry, some of the enthusiasm that had come with talking about his home curbed by the mental math as he attempts to place his own age. He was rather young at the time, which had been a reoccurring theme by the time that he had been inducted into the Harbingers. Still the youngest, even though Scaramouche was roughly half Childe's height. It was as amusing as it was vexing.]

Oh... Freshly fifteen, I think? Not much younger than you yourself. In his defense... Well. I tend to get into a lot of trouble around then. And if he hadn't sent me over for conscription, I probably would have actually killed someone. Came close, but never succeeded back in Morepesok. Which, looking back? Good thing.

[Don't we all like the feeling of proccing vaporize...]

...yeah, a year younger than I am now. [The fact that he's been dead for X amount of years notwithstanding; if he hasn't died in this place yet, shouldn't he be like, older? Taller? Hopefully taller? Please Elria let him be taller.] ...huh. Maybe it is a good thing.

...I can't stand hurting people, personally. I-I mean... there are a couple people I would hurt, [Dantalion, and the Henir's Order member back in the time illusion of Seven Tower that killed Clamor, but the latter was uh... Noah couldn't exactly... change the past when he did kill that guy, since he just came right back, so.] but everyone has someone like that.

[He thinks about Titania, how Noah hadn't wanted to kill her, even though she did unspeakable things to people. Looking back, maybe he should have, because of that little fact — but he supposes she sealed her fate when she brought the building down on top of herself and ended her own life.]
