October Event
10/02 06:12
✽ Silence lifts at six in the morning, and there is still quite a bit of time before classes start. Early risers who decide to return to school from the dorms cross the courtyard and open the double doors and—- something cold and wet drips down onto their head: old blood from the torso of a student(?) bound by rope and strung up above the doors to the courtyard, body burned black and cut in half at the waist.
The air is heavy, and the entire school smells of blood.
Hope... month...
✽ A large poster advertising the student store has been tacked up on the bulletin board. For October, store hours are now 6AM to 8PM Monday to Saturday, and noon to 4PM on Sundays. Outside of those hours, the shopkeeper is occasionally in the shop and will leave the door propped open if they are, but more often than not, the door is closed and there is no answer when knocking on the door. Laundry tokens can now be purchased at a reasonable price. The rock gacha machine is now located just outside the door so it can be played at any time. Please continue to spend your hard-eared points on plain boring normal rocks.
✽ In the dormitory, the construction paper covering the oil paintings start to soak through with blood, causing the papers to grow heavy and fall. The distorted faces in the paintings seem to be bleeding from their open wounds, the canvas wet to the touch and smelling of blood. Blood dripping down the walls and on the floor do not cause the dorms to change, nor do the splatters of blood seen on the glass over the star dormitory rooms occasionally throughout the month, as if it had rained blood in the darkness and silence of night, although no other evidence is seen elsewhere in the courtyard.
✽ The wisteria tree slowly continues to lose its petals, and the area roughly ten feet around the trunk of the tree has become completely dead and barren, leaving dry dirt underneath. Despite shedding its petals, new buds are becoming noticeable now too. The spider lilies that bloomed during the autumnal equinox remain, still covering the rest of the courtyard and extending into the forest surrounding the school. Outside, the air smells faintly metallic at all times.
✽ Occasionally throughout the month and increasing in frequency and intensity towards the end of the month, characters with 13 or more tallies will find themselves sensitive to sunlight and loud noises, prone to vertigo upon standing or turning too quickly, and suffering ice pick headaches throughout the day.
✽ Characters with 5 or less tallies will hear faint white noise during the normally silent hours of midnight to 6AM, but no other sound.
✽ The class roster on the bulletin board acknowledges class 1-D for leading the rest of the classes in rank, being the first to reach 100. All characters in first year classes and #-D classes will receive 500 merit points and will be able to exit out the front door to the school. They will be able to make it up to the front gate, but will find themselves growing lightheaded and about to pass out if they try to squeeze through the bars or climb over the gate itself. Please contact me privately if they would try to get out anyways.
✽ The void in the auditorium continues to grow, and (pending character interaction) by the end of the month will encompass the entire right wing of the first floor past the lockers, the home ec cooking room on the second floor, as well as the art club room on the third floor.

Exchange Program
✽ On October 11, students participating in the exchange program are given one pocket knife each and sent out the front doors, upon which they will find themselves in that canon location as if they had stepped out of any normal door in the area. For characters who visit their own canon's location, they will find all their friends and family alive and happy— except for the one person they are closest to, who will be absent. Nobody there will recognize your character or the person they are closest to, regarding both as complete strangers, as if neither have ever existed in the first place. But otherwise... think of it as canon good end, in contrast to elevator bad end.
✽ There is no bus to take them back to Yogen and they can stay as long as they'd like, even forever if they feel like it. If they wish to return to their real home, though, they would have to first return to Yogen and figure things out from there. The first time they open the pocket knife, they will find a piece of paper tucked between the blade and the handle reading "Use to return." If they use it on other people, that's the local law enforcement's business. In order to return to Yogen, perhaps remembering Natsume's presentation mentioning how they got there in the first place, they will have to use the knife on themselves, or otherwise die by happenstance or, eventually, old age. Two weeks after their return to school, they will find one additional tally on the inside of their wrist.
✽ In return, Yogen receives three exchange students: two familiar and one not.

OOC
✽ The first prompt leads into this month's mini-event, which is becoming a misnomer, maybe they should be called murder events instead.
✽ All students leaving on the exchange program will icly be gone for at least 10/11 - 10/17, although they will be able to return at any later date in October, at the player's discretion, regardless of how much time they experienced on their trip. Just like in the bad end elevator and the void school, nothing physical can be taken back from the exchange trip, but characters can at least drain their bank accounts eating good food and exploring town before coming back.
✽ The new exchange students are former npcs Kouji Seki and Chiaki Kudo, as well as a new student ???. They can be interacted with in their corresponding toplevels below, after 10/11.

still. she can't be rude.]
Come in.

it'll definitely tip steph off that something's different when she finally realizes it's subaru, since he's made it very obvious since day one of living in the communal space he doesn't tend to knock on doors and just sort of opens them or peeks in if they're open to see what someone's up to--]
You sure you want me to?
no subject
... I don't know. [which is her honest answer.] You can if you want, I guess.
[why he would, she doesn't know. maybe he's here for crona.]
no subject
[okay. he'll come sit on the edge of her bed, the weight dipping slightly. clear enough to her that he's not too close, but he's here.]
So, uh. [...] Jeez~, I'm a real ass this month, I've had to go through this with a couple of people now...
[haha... ha......
... subaru sets the folded up paper aside, clasping his hands together and chewing on his cheek.]
We got pretty heated during Natsume's presentation, huh?
no subject
... When you went to them after, what did they tell you?
no subject
[...]
Boss?
no subject
[pause. her voice is slow, but very steady.] It's what everybody does here. You get suspicions. You go ask questions about them. You get nothing but more suspicions. It's what you did, didn't you?
no subject
[life's hard enough, steph, without being suspicious of your friends. that's what he thinks, and even if it'll bite him in the ass in the long run -- well, that's just how it is.
his tone's hard, but it's not raised. he will try not to raise his voice today.]
Just 'cause I won't tell you what I know about 'em doesn't mean I don't know anything. It's just their business, and I've been trusted with that. You wouldn't tell a friend's secret to just anyone, especially not to someone who was badmouthing them, would you?
no subject
[the blankets flip up suddenly, and she sits up on her elbows. she has the mussed hair and reddened eyes of someone who has been crying on and off for, at minimum, a few hours.]
Nene said I should apologize to everybody. And I did apologize to Natsume, 'cause I felt bad about what I said to him. But, I don't feel bad about the rest of it. I meant it.
no subject
subaru feels a little bad at her obviously crying state, but he bristles at the rest.]
You can believe whatever the hell you want, Steph, but there's no way you thought talking bad about someone you don't know two shits about was gonna go well.
[not when it was clear that the shopkeep did have people who liked them in there. he takes the folded paper again and sets it down next to her; it's black and well-creased, about the size of a notebook. clearly, it'll open bigger.
he stands up, fists tight at his side.]
I came to apologize for making you so upset, that's all. I'm not gonna get into it with you again. You don't gotta forgive me, or see it my way, but I'm gonna keep doing what I think is right -- and I'll make sure I'm the only one who takes the fall in the end if that's what happens.
no subject
[because she has been thinking. how many souls here would she trade, to see the one she cares for most safe. and she was scared when she realized the answer wasn't "none" anymore.]
If that was certain, I wouldn't be so mad. But, they're buying something that costs a lot. And nothing in this place is more valuable than everything up here. [taps her temple]
no subject
[fine he'll bite. he's tired of them not being treated like a person, both by certain people and themselves.]
no subject
Gee, I don't know. Just a completely out of nowhere guess.
no subject
[he turns to her, frowning.]
They're human. They're trapped the way we are, and if you wanna keep thinking they're not as much of a victim as us then fine. That's your choice.
no subject
... Besides, you're the one making it mean. Why wouldn't somebody who isn't human bleed, or get scared? Humans don't own being people.
no subject
he looks at her, surprised, then away. ... yeah, even people who aren't humans can feel those things -- it's the whole reason why even "monsters" can cry.]
You're right, my bad. About the people thing, not the other thing. I didn't really have a lot of experience with persons who aren't human until I woke up here... [... maybe he'll
yeah he'll reluctantly sit back down. even if he doesn't agree, that doesn't mean he can't hear her side of things. subaru chews his cheek, clasping his hands.] So what do you think everyone here is anyway? The faculty and stuff.
no subject
... I've thought it's been fairies since the start, really. All the rules seem to fit.
no subject
I'll bite. What're the rules?
no subject
... Fairies like taking people. As pets. As food. They bring you under the ground and they try to keep you forever. That's what I think this place is.
no subject
not exactly -- the shopkeep never enjoyed selling the totems or telling about their prices, always seemed a little distant and against people they cared for considering it. they gave their name when asked, and didn't seem like they wanted it to be spread around; like it didn't belong to them anymore, as he told komaeda earlier this month. and besides...]
I can believe this place being like, fairy based the way you're talking. But I do still think that Boss is a victim too. Working under them, okay, but I think... they have regrets about it, too. 'Cause [and it struck hard to him thanks to her words] they gave me their heart before I could even think about giving mine.
[so he doesn't think they're bad. he doesn't think they're enjoying any of this. but he can agree this place might be a little fae-based, on her rule, and also she might just be the first person he's telling.]
A fairy wouldn't do that. The others might be, but Boss is cast under a spell too.
no subject
[she pauses, frowning at him.]
... Where are you keeping it?
no subject
Uh. In my chest, I guess?
[LIKE.... DID SHE MEAN LITERALLY? DID SHE? BECAUSE HE DIDNT]
no subject
... Fair folk can fall in love, you know. It's not really the same sort of love as us, but they're not the same sort of people, right? It's like how you'd love... I don't know. A pet. Or a favorite toy.
no subject
... Yeah~?
[oh hhh hhh my gooooood]
I think we're a little more than pet and owner though. ♪ We're equals. ♪
