where all the helpless flowers have been weeded out,
the only thing that gives me pleasure is the red color
brought forth by this cold piece of metal.

This post serves as a place for me to gather all of Komaeda's closed threads, starters, miscellany through the month. If you want to set something up, I can be reached by PM or at
sakasaki
11/27
so like, a lot's happened... he's not much of a speeder in the first place... he tends to fall asleep doing this, actually, and even whining to have natsume help was to no avail...
but it's fine. even if it's taken all month, it's fine. subaru rubs at his arm, waiting outside of 1-D for the class to be dismissed (he'd managed to slip out early himself, he's giving amami a freebie in that area as per their unspoken agreement) so he can snag komaeda before the other can escape. they're going to hang out.
not literally snag, mind, unless he's ignored, but subaru's content with perking up whenever komaeda leaves as the cue of I Was Waiting For You]

...
( komaeda cants his head to the side, eyes wide, blinking as if to answer "what is it?" so that the other can either tell him what's on his mind, or lead him somewhere. he doesn't seem against it, but that's because komaeda can be kind when he wants — )
...
( they're speaking in silence like the g in lasagna. )
no subject
[he'd better have learned to tell them apart, since subaru was his first orange friend... anyway, they sure are speaking in silence for a moment, as if subaru's gauging how likely it is for komaeda to try and leave at this very second...
...
...
...
before diving at him!]
Maddy~! Let's go to the library today~!
no subject
Huh? I rarely see you in the library... Are you aware you have to be quiet there?
( silent, soft, and not one word can be spoken, it's why komaeda likes that place, but now... it's worse given the fact his heart thumps in his chest, audible in his ears when he's with certain people. )
I'm not sure you can handle it.
no subject
I can! I promise! Lemme prove it! Let's hang out at the library, Maddy! C'mon, c'mooooon!
[he has something to show off, after all...!]
no subject
( those are the rules, effectively funny considering he recalls those are something of the same rules rokkun had.
he's teasing him. )
But we can go... what book do you want to read?
no subject
... ... ...]
Actually... I just finished a book, so I wanted to talk shop with you. ☆
[yeah... he read a book... he's gonna start off to go downstairs, though he'll check behind him to see if komaeda follows.]
'Cause I wanted to see how different it was from the movie, y'know? They really had to throw some shortcuts in...
no subject
( he explains, following after subaru as he walks down the stairs one after the other, and he his prosthetic holding onto the rail of the steps so that he doesn't trip. )
Different Seasons by Stephen King has pretty great movie adaptions; Rita Hayworth, and The Shawshank Redemption.
( he crosses his arms, wondering what subaru has shown interest in. ) Did the movie let you down?
no subject
Nope! The movie was way easier to follow, and definitely more interesting~. The shortcuts helped the pacing, the book felt like it dragged a lot 'cause of how many places they stopped at and people they talked to in comparison...
[it was boring, honestly... he fell asleep a lot...]
I don't get why they nerfed the professor though. He could speak a lot of languages in the original, but they made him so unlikable in the movie... I mean, he wasn't easy to like in the book either, but y'know? And the movie had Gertrude.
[so it's 100% better.]
no subject
Journey to the Center of the Earth? You actually... read it. I'll say that's a surprise.
( didn't know subaru could read, tbh.
his voice sounds interested, looking towards subaru as he follows the other along, and of course he knows, the book was without gertrude. well aware that was subaru's favorite character within the thrilling tale, but comes a little closer to the other as he speaks. )
Do you know why the book dragged on?
( he's willing to educate him, but like a helping hand unless he's curious, if not they can move to the professor. )
no subject
Um~... 'Cause Axel didn't wanna go in the first place, so Verne-san made it feel like it dragged as much for us as it did him...?
[that's how it felt. subaru really wanted to get to the excitement, but he didn't skip.]
no subject
( so he's right, verne made it go on and on and on, because that's what the protagonist had to deal with, and so the reader followed suit. )
I know that sort of book would bore you, but that was their lives, and what better way to experience it other than putting you in their shoes? ( with a small chuckle, he looks at subaru almost interested. ) You should try The Neverending Story, I believe you'd be interested in how fast that starts.
no subject
Well~, I won't lie, I almost fell asleep at some points. ♪ [and he also Did fall asleep at some points. his copy has drool marks and it's fine, that's a well-loved book, probably.] Does that one start fast 'cause it's Neverending?
[at least he seems curious enough about it]
no subject
( even when subaru dies, his story will continue as long as someone mentions him and his efforts. komaeda loves stories, just the same as he loves staying in the library to indulge in those activities. )
You might find that you two characters might remind you of yourself, it's a very fantastical book. It's premise would interest you more than the other, I'm sure.
( the neverending story is one that would keep subaru awake, only because of how interesting everything gets. at least there's no plot twist like the girl who died by cracking her skull when attempting to visit terabithia. )
no subject
... but that is an interesting and good point, subaru likes it; a story never truly ends, and people are never truly forgotten, so long as someone is alive to tell it, to remember them. it makes him smile.]
'Kay~, I'll give it a look then. ♪ [and report to komaeda once he's done, just like he did today... even if it's only every now and then, he does like managing to surprise the other.]
I like what you said, by the way. About stories not ending. 'Cause you're always hearing news about age-old fossils and stuff like that, from people and animals, and those're stories, and stars act as their own tales with how they grow and eventually explode too... But they're things we can only read while in the present, our present, because they're all long gone in theirs. I think it's cool. ♪
