11/08 - 11/13 Cultural Festival

The school campus opens its doors to the public early Monday morning, with family, friends, neighbors, and strangers arriving to fill up the halls, each visitor having eyes of gold and wallets full of cash. Festival events run from 8AM to 4PM, and pamphlets are handed out by students lining the locker area, which include a schedule and a map of the campus:

✽ The opening event on Monday is an idol performance in the auditorium by the twin star unit GEMINI, consisting of Natsume Sakasaki and Subaru Akehoshi. On Thursday afternoon, the music club will hold a performance in the auditorium, featuring the typical choir with piano accompaniment, a capella performances by smaller groups of members, as well as solos, with requests taken in between performances so members can switch off and take a break.

✽ The student store is open every day up until noon on Saturday, and while the absurdly high prices are still absurdly high, there is a sign up in front of the rock gacha that one of the prizes is an all day pass to any of the school's events for one day of the festival. The odds aren't worth the price, but it's not like the shopkeep reveals the odds.

✽ Class 1-B is hosting a themed cafe in their homeroom.

✽ Class 1-D has turned their homeroom and neighboring classrooms into escape rooms, which runs from Tuesday to Friday.

✽ The robotics/programing club and the gaming club have set up a variety of video games in 2-A, and are hosting a competition between visitors and their AI.

✽ Class 3-D is hosting a kissing booth in their homeroom.

✽ In the home ec cooking room, the cooking club is hosting a cooking contest, with student judges and prizes for the winners.

✽ The sewing club and the art club have put together a photo booth inside the home ec sewing room, featuring all sorts of props and costumes imaginable to try on and pose in front of a number of hand painted backgrounds. Photos are taken by an instant camera for visitors to take home a keepsake. In the art club room, the art club has a gallery set up, with paintings hanging from the walls and sculptures set up in front of them, and a strict no touching policy or one of the members threatens to scoop your eye out with a palette knife and she doesn't look like she's joking. There is a large open canvas, however, for visitors to try their hand at paints or charcoal or pastels on what will become a collaborative art piece done by an entire week's worth of visitors. Occasionally throughout the festival, an art club member will have a space off to the corner for portraits or face painting.

✽ The sewing club has also contributed plush toy prizes for various other class' game stalls throughout the school, where visitors can pay to play for a chance to win small prizes, and are able to trade up several smaller prizes for larger ones.

✽ Out past the courtyard, various sports teams host games throughout the week, including relay races and obstacle courses and tug o' war and """soccer""". Basically it's sports day, because there had been a sports day on the calendar but I never look at the calendar so it was already halfway through the month before I realized.

✽ The fourth floor hallway has been cleaned up and turned into the rest area, with rugs laid out across the ground and comfy chairs scattered around the room and little bags of cat treats for sale to entice the fluffy white cat into hanging out in this space all week. Even without treats, she is content to sit on people's laps and rub against their ankles and let them bury their faces in her stomach. Healing.

✽ In the evening on the final day, after all the visitors leave, a large bonfire is set up in a non-flammable area between the courtyard and pool building and left to burn late into the night for those students who choose to remain on campus until around 8PM, when the festival culminates in a small fireworks show that lights up the sky overhead in reds and golds, while on the ground, sparklers are passed around for a quiet moment appreciating the beauty, and transience, of life.

✽ Throughout the school year, merit points have occasionally been earned through interactions between students involving strong emotion, whether positive or negative. This month, characters may notice that this happens much more frequently, and the amount of merit points earned is also sometimes more than the typical one point. Please report threads of strong emotion below, as this will minorly affect December.
✽ On 11/23, Yogen sees its first snow of the year, a light dusting across campus that does not stick when the sun rises again the next morning, but it will snow on and off until the end of the month.
✽ This event log doubles as a TDM, with new characters experiencing the recurring feeling of drifting in (school life) and out (canon life) of sleep up until they "open their eyes," after which they will have full awareness and come to their senses.

A). Big Time Plush

[ Sara wouldn't call herself a competitive person, but her eyes have a scary glint as she hunches over one of the many game booths at the festival, clutching a tennis ball in her hand. Bottle games are usually rigged, Sara knows that, but death games have a surprisingly large amount of hand eye coordination minigames. If she can't abuse those skills here, then where else? A large pile of stuffed toys lies at her feet, matching a greatly depleted prize pile behind the poor game running npcs counter. She's been hogging this game for a while...

Heedless of anyone waiting in the wings for their turn to play, Sara winds up her ball for another shot. The ball slams into the simple pyramid with a crash, and she throws up her arms in an excited burst of energy. ]

That's right! Hey you, give me another!

B). A Class Picture

[ After turning in her small prizes in for about five of the adorable black stuffed cats, Sara is bringing her ill gotten prize back to her room when she spots the joint art project the art club is setting up and freezes in her tracks.

It seems really fun to make art together...but at the same time she doesn't want to make a fool of herself in front of the whole school (dormitory drawings what dormitory drawings). She can't make up her mind in time, and instead just ends up staring longingly at the doorway until someone interrupts her. ]

C). Sports!

[ No matter what you're doing, at some time today you might feel a hand on your wrist and your shoulder and a very determined Sara staring at you. ]

We need one more person for tug-of-war. [ She's already tugging you along. ] So you'll be our last, okay? Don't worry, its easy! You just need to pull really hard, and then we can win!

D). Get some rest, nya~!

[ Towards the end of the festival, Sara is relaxing in the rest room with a cup of tea she'd gotten from the Wonderland Cafe. Lily May is a purring lump beside her, having been coaxed into hanging out with a few bags of treats.

So....know any interesting gossip lately? I feel like I should have been staking out the kissing booth a little more, honestly.

[Inaba is immediately taken aback when she's already being pulled--]

Saying that it's easy when it's about strength and grip stuff, which I'm absolutely awful at!

[ Sara pauses for a moment to stare back at Inaba with a thoughtful expression. Weak grip strength...they can just put Inaba in the middle. ]

Please, believe in yourself!

[ The pulling continues completely unabated. ]

Even one more body counts! I swear! You'll do great. We really do need another person to defeat Childe.

Oh, trust me - I believe in myself enough.

[Which is probably difficult to believe when she's answering with such a flat response. She sighs yet again, her shoulders sagging even when she's pulled.]

Just don't blame me if we lose, though, because I warned you...

[So to speak. That poor NPC... is there even still a line, or have people been disheartened off or just ended up stopping to watch this unfold with their suspiciously golden eyes?]

[There's so many..... the dorm room's going to be 40% plush by volume at this rate even with the trading up. Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing but...]

[ There was a line at one point but anyone who genuinely wanted to play has dispersed...leaving only a few distant spectators and this very haggard npc.

Sara turns to see Sou, still holding her next ball. There is a firey instensity in her eyes, the kind that only seems to show up during puzzles or trials. ]

Sou! If you exchange a bunch of small prizes, you can get bigger ones.

...One of them is a really big plush cat.

[For a split second he half expects her to throw it at him with that intensity and braces to meet his maker. It doesn't happen though.]

O-oh? You like them that much, huh?

[Enough to get more? Clearly there's no reason for her to assume he might be interested in this prospect, clearly. He's made this clear, shh. It's also pretty clear from her memory and other things that she likes black cats...]

...how big are we talking?

[He hasn't been by the stall for trading in plushes yet because it would only depress him in it's unattainability.]

[ She's not sure why, but seeing Sara linger in front of the art room makes Chiaki feel a sense of kinship.

That doesn't stop her from coming up behind Sara, though, reaching out with both hands and giving her a double poke in the small of the back. ]

[ Sara turns to see...the face of the dead body she'd poked around in her very first insufficient detective attempt. Alive...and well? ]

H-huh? [ She can't really think of what to say to this, twin? Or just...another person back from the dead? Like Clamor or Inaba? I-is Natsume around to see this?

Right, the girl is saying something. Sara nods a little before she can help herself. ]

I mean...er...I suppose I wasn't...not going in?

[ Help she's not good at art. ]

[ The fingers become full hands pressing against Sara's back, all but marching her through the door, let's go, come on ]

[ Sara wasn't actually talk to him, but as he's wont to do, Ranger interjects himself to answer the question. ]

Nah, you didn't miss much. I went over there and I just got dragged on a date.

[ It's said in the same nonchalant tone one might use to describe an office meeting.

That's technically what happened, anyway. He's not reading too much into it. ]

[ She sits up immediatly, disrupting Lily May in her shock as she turns to face Ranger. All crimes are forgiven if Ranger tells her who he's dating/went on a date with right this instant. ]

[ Wow, that's... Well, actually, that's exactly the reaction he expected. He's not sure he wants to answer the who, though. He'll only embarrass them. ]

[ You know, kind of like how people practice kissing sometimes except way ruder. ]

[ Bonnie was half thinking that she'd been mistaken for someone else! She was just minding her business, but she remembered that honestly. Without her typical outfit, she looks just like everyone else. Not frail looking enough to be useless and be left alone! ]

[ Sara pumps her arm as she grins down at Bonnie. Go, fight, win? ]

Bonnie-chan, do you know how to play tug of war? It's easy, I swear. We just need another person to beat Childe!

[ "Glory"? If that's not the most useless-ass prize...

Her demeanor changes at the question, shifting from irritated to a little shy, touching her fingertips together and glancing away. ]

Oh, I do but... that's such a rough game! I might get hurt.

[The last thing he had expected was to get yoinked out of nowhere, much less being volunteered for a tug-of-war fight.]

[okay while you deal with that boring "having shame" nonsense, some of us are going to be very intently painting... something? in a little blank corner of the canvas. it's. got shapes? it's probably an animal, mineral, or vegetable? he was gonna draw an apple, but that ended up being A Thing, and oh look someone to ask a question about that.]

Oh, its because we have all of it in our room. [ She point down the hallway back towards the dorms. ]

For some reason everything red is in the closet, but we can't take it out. I guess you can bring whatever art you want to Sou and I's room if you'd like to add that color to anything. Or just use orange.

[Today has been a Day, so taking it easy in the rest room is a welcome reprieve. Hinata has been quietly relaxing nearby, drawn closer to Sara's spot because of Lily May but too hesitant to try petting her. It's not until he overhears her comment that he flushes involuntarily and meets her gaze.]

It's not really gossip if it's at the kissing booth, is it? Those are just kisses to raise money, so a lot of them probably don't even mean anything...

[ Sara raises one brow...and then she raises another. She leans across Lily May to look Hinata right in the eye. ]

Hmmmmmmmmm! Are you sure!?

[ Of course you would think that, guy who is friends with Komeada. ]

Ah, but the same people always sign up, don't they? Giving it away freely twice, they must be looking for something. Almost like they're desperate for a certain person to come over and kiss them, don't you think?
