( and amami might just be more excited than they are, but it's fine. listen. it's been a while since he's had this opportunity, so he'd like to make the most of it if he can, which means that there's one thing potentially standing in his way... )

You're up pretty early though. You weren't planning on working today, were you?

[adsum]

Yeah? Of course I am!

[ They hop down and stretch up up up... leans back down to touch their toes and stretch their back the other way... straightens up again. ]

Someone's got to run the shop. Did you want to come to work with me today? You can practice your sales pitches again!

[sisters]

Well, I could. ( though he clearly doesn't plan to if he can get away with it. )

... But I think if there's any day you could take off, this would be it.

( what if he wants to do other things with them! more exciting things! also he broke character last pitch. )

Why don't you have someone else look after it for today? Akehoshi-kun mentioned that he wouldn't mind.

[adsum]

[ Amami could, but then npckun would worry about their sales. Subaru, on the other hand, sort of draws people in and doesn't even need to do pitches, he can just ask his fan club to buy things and they will. ]

I'd feel bad having him be stuck in a room all day... I'd only trust you or him in there to run things, though.

[sisters]

( ? have a little more faith in him, would you!? amami could do just fine, probably. maybe... )

It's fine. It's just... I promised that he'd get to spend some time with you later tonight, so if I don't get to spend some of the day with you, I'm worried I won't get a chance to at all.

[adsum]

[ No, they heard his last attempt at a sales pitch.

They open their mouth to say they always have time for Amami, but— ... but here they were arguing just the opposite, here they are having to choose between work and family and they...

...they're turning out to be just like dad, and not in the ways they admire about him

...

They move to stand right in front of Amami and then tips forward to let him catch them, to let themselves wrap their arms around his sides. ]

There's always the rock gacha. Let's have breakfast. After that, you can help me make signs for the shop saying that we're closed today.

[sisters]

( the suspense as kamo-kun opens their mouth, pauses, and makes their way over instead is killing them. he catches them, of course, but it's only once they answer that he perks up.

they're in his arms anyway, so giving a little squeeze, he lifts them up and spins them around once— twice— okay twice is enough actually, but he's grinning from ear to ear. he's always kind of wanted to do that with a baby sibling, y'know? feels like he has, anyway, but he'll set them down once he's gotten his chance, offer up his hand so they can head out to the kitchen. )

Sure! What do you want today? I'll make anything, so you can pick.

( he says it like it's special and not an offer he makes every day, but listen, it's special because it's their birthday. )

[adsum]

[ -—!! They tense up in Amami's arms when their feet lift off the ground and their grip on the back of his shirt doesn't loosen until they're back down. Only after do they let themselves laugh, that sort of breathless relieved laugh you do when you do when you get off a rollercoaster that had you scared out of your wits but you didn't actually die and so maybe you can begrudgingly admit it was fun.

Of course Amami wouldn't let go, but they still hold on extra tight to his hand on the way to the kitchen.

Breakfast breakfast breakfast........... ]

Do you know how to make crêpes?

[sisters]

( ah, cute. they're really cute, and he can't say that he minds being clung to, but he does feel a little bad. gives kamo-kun's hand a little extra squeeze as they make their way over. )

Of course. Do you like sweet crepes? What's your favourite flavours for them?

( if you really squint, maybe you can see his tail wagging. )

[adsum]

[ Imaginary ears perk up at getting to choose what flavor crepe. Savory ones are the most delicious... smoked salmon aioli... but if it's sweet, then, ]

Pudding! Topped with cinnamon apple and toasted pecans. You add confectioners sugar to the pudding to stiffen it up, and the neatest way to fill the crepes is to put it in a plastic bag and snip off a corner and pipe it straight down the center!

[sisters]

Haha, gotcha. I'll make sure that it's done perfectly.

( or as close to perfect as he can get it, which to his credit is going to be pretty close when he comes back with two — one in each hand, folded up into cones, and holding out kamo-kun's for them to take. )

You said we're making posters, right? After that, we can plan the rest of the day. I was wondering if you'd wanna give more swimming lessons a try.

( gotta roll a dice for how poorly last time's went to see if kamo-kun's up for another go. )

[adsum]

Huh? Umm.

[ Swimming...

They take a bite of the crepe to avoid answering right away, still hesitant on the whole swimming idea because it's cold and wet and hard to breathe and move and see and hear and an all around terrible place to be in murder school.

... ]

With a kickboard, maybe... Like if I ever fall out of an airplane, the seat cushion is supposed to function as one, so it's like practice.

[sisters]

Let's try to keep you from falling out of any airplanes. More like... for when we go to the beach.

( and anyway, pools aren't that cold? only when you're swimming outside, like in one of those glacier fed lakes. those are the worst. )

But yeah, we'll figure out a kickboard for you. If you want to go, that is — it's your day, after all.

( don't feel pressured into doing something just because amami thinks it'd be fun. )

[adsum]

[ The beach... after they master swimming they're going to ask Amami the proper technique for punching sharks on the nose without getting your arm chomped off ]

Yeah, I want to! You'll be there, so I'll be okay!

[sisters]

( ? the proper technique is to not punch them in the nose, but it's fine. they'll get there... one step at a time. mention the pool one or two more times and maybe they can feel confident in their swimming without any kind of floaties, but for now... )

Yeah, don't worry. You'll be just fine.

( he's significantly brightening over the fact that they're up for going anyway. )

But first things first, we'll need to set up a sign for the shop, right? We can pick up some towels when we put it up, too.

[adsum]

[ ...yeah, it'll be fine. ]

Yeah, lets go make those posters! What animal should we do this time? Have we done rhinos yet?

[sisters]

How about a theme? Animals from a certain type of place, like safari animals, or rainforest animals...

( hippos and rhinos or toucans and lemurs, y'know. )

[adsum]

I know normal forest animals! I'm good at foxes!

[ They've seen lots and lots of foxes in their time. Also bears but maybe they don't like bears as much ]

[sisters]

Oh? You've got zebras in your forests?

( he distinctly remembers them being pretty good with zebras. )

[adsum]

[ and they distinctly remember Amami supposedly being pretty good with geography ]

No... Zebras live in the grasslands and savannahs of southern and eastern Africa.

[sisters]

Then I'm sure you'd be more than fine with drawing other animals from those places.

( they said it like they couldn't, he just wanted to make a point. )

But we can stick to forests if that's what you're comfortable with. What kind of birds do you like, Kamo-kun?

[adsum]

[ Oh. They were more concerned about Animal Facts than they were about their own drawing ability, but point taken. ]

Sparrows! There's cinnamon tree sparrows all around at home, and dad said Aniki liked watching them, and could whistle and sound exactly like them!
