I see. Where I come from, that's a rather ancient system. A thousand years, perhaps? Naturally, there is corruption in the system. If you have more wealth or fame, you're more likely to either be represented fairly in a trial, or get away with a crime you've done because of that.

I would have hoped with time such a thing would be less of an issue and people would see the value of treating others equally, but I suppose change takes time and it's harder to manage with the shorter lifespans of humans.
