bricks are domesticated rocks

If that's the case, glass is domesticated sand.

Aren't bricks made of clay? I'm not sure that classifies as a rock.
kingofscience: (077)

[personal profile] kingofscience 2021-12-11 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Technically clay is just a fine-grained sedimentary rock, so she's not wrong!
granvelle: (pic#14785048)

[personal profile] granvelle 2021-12-11 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
I still don't think that means there's such a thing as feral rocks.
kingofscience: (093)

[personal profile] kingofscience 2021-12-11 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
You sure about that? People sometimes have pet rocks. My friend Taiju had one a while back. Named it Rocky.
granvelle: (pic#14785046)

[personal profile] granvelle 2021-12-11 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Why on earth would you have a pet rock? That seems a bit morbid.
kingofscience: (068)

[personal profile] kingofscience 2021-12-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, not really. Sure he got some weird stares, but it was just from other kids our age back then. I know rock collecting is a hobby people do- they just go outside and find cool ones to keep on their shelf or something.
granvelle: (pic#14785048)

[personal profile] granvelle 2021-12-11 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I see. Most people I've heard of with rock collections acquired them from wizards, so it's much more frowned upon outside of the North and West.
kingofscience: (116)

[personal profile] kingofscience 2021-12-11 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see- this is a matter of differing worlds again, I assume. We don't have any wizards or magic where I'm from, so we're probably speaking in different contexts!
granvelle: (pic#14785046)

[personal profile] granvelle 2021-12-11 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
It seems to be the case, though it also seems that most people I've met from other worlds are unfamiliar with wizards.

[tfw you're from an isekai]

Though I suppose that also means you have other sources of power.
kingofscience: (124)

[personal profile] kingofscience 2021-12-11 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's less that people are unfamiliar with wizards, and more like magic is mostly fictional where I live.

And yeah- electricity and fuel mostly powers the world through various means. Advancements in technology and the like.
granvelle: (pic#14785041)

[personal profile] granvelle 2021-12-23 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's still sometimes hard to imagine such a thing, even though most people from other worlds seem to believe that.

[Weird!]

Fuel seems like an incredibly vague term.
kingofscience: (104)

[personal profile] kingofscience 2021-12-30 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, I suppose it does. Well, in technical terms, "fuel" usually falls under coal, gas or oil- things that can be burned in order to produce power.

[i hate myself]
granvelle: (pic#15291033)

[personal profile] granvelle 2021-12-11 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
No. Is that a career?

[sounds super fake]
carpevinum: (Big Brother Santa Claus)

[personal profile] carpevinum 2021-12-13 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you not have attorneys where you're from? How odd. Yes, that is a career. An attorney (or "lawyer") is someone who represents clients in a court of law should they find themselves in a situation where certain sacred laws were breached.

For example, a client can hire an attorney to represent them in court if they were in something like a car crash, with the end goal being to get money as compensation from the person at fault for the crash. Does that make sense?
granvelle: (pic#14785048)

[personal profile] granvelle 2021-12-23 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Legal issues are largely handled by whoever is in charge of the land - so lords, barons, kings or whatever wizard happens to be the most powerful. There's no representing those who cannot do so themselves.

It does make sense, even if that's not how things are resolved where I'm from.

[Most people accused of crimes can't really defend themselves. RIP to them.]
carpevinum: (Home Sweet Home)

[personal profile] carpevinum 2021-12-23 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. Where I come from, that's a rather ancient system. A thousand years, perhaps? Naturally, there is corruption in the system. If you have more wealth or fame, you're more likely to either be represented fairly in a trial, or get away with a crime you've done because of that.

So, I suppose nothing has changed.

[On the one hand it's very hard to be surprised by that, on the other hand why does it seem like a universal fact that all people in power are actually the worst?]

I would have hoped with time such a thing would be less of an issue and people would see the value of treating others equally, but I suppose change takes time and it's harder to manage with the shorter lifespans of humans.

[arthur you can't just assume everyone's human]

YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO FINANCIAL COMPENSATION.

Can you describe to me the nature of these injuries you've endured and how they have affected your quality of life?

Me, me!! I got stuck in a coffin, that's a feral rock attack, yeah?
carpevinum: (Bragging Rights)

[personal profile] carpevinum 2021-12-11 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
That depends on the material of the coffin. May I inquire as to what the coffin was composed of? If it was made of mostly wood, I'm afraid you'll have to contact an attorney versed in feral wood attacks instead.

Concrete, maybe? All I know is it was rock solid. Be my attorney, 'kay?

I'll certainly try my best. Can you describe your case in detail to me? Do you know who sealed you in a coffin?

[You can't see it but he's kind of snort laughing right now?]

[ The appropriate reaction to this disaster, oh god. Ramuda isn't taking this seriously either but he's here to make a mess of things apparently?? ]

I dunno who sealed me in there exactly, but the coffin might've belonged to Ranger or Komaeda!! I woke up in there and they opened the door, but they threatened to put me back in it and send me away.

Too cruel...

Ah, yes. Of course. Those two.

[Lucifer says that but he doesn't actually know Ranger that well and he's just kind of forming opinions out of thin air.]

I believe a lawsuit is in order. So far I have written down unlawful imprisonment & threats against one's wellbeing.

Good, good! I want them to pay me enough to buy something nice for Christmas!

They're rich enough, so it shouldn't be a problem~

All humans seem to be relatively the same, then. That said, my brothers would be inclined to agree with you there. A handful of them are rather obsessed with material objects.
