( there's various hidden signs that point towards the elevator, and if anyone catches sight, they'll see an arrow that points up, indicating for them to take it skyward. if they get off too early, there's a sign on the floor that reads, "next stop!", so if they dare, they can go back into the elevator and do as the words command. upon making your way to the rooftop on new year's eve, the setup is immediately apparent.
a number of glittering, sparkling decorations line the area — streamers, balloons, music, and a brightly colored sign the reads: happy birthday hinachan. at the heart of the setup is a bonfire that reaches almost shoulder-height — properly set up to make sure it doesn't spread anywhere further than its containment area, it sets a festive tone.
"borrowed" desks are also covered in an array of treats and appetizers courtesy of nene and amami, as well as enough love setsugetsukka to "make 3 people black out," which is probably enough to share if nobody gets too ambitious. the cake at the center of it all is the real star of the show however, almost as big as a person all on it's own.
to top it all off, even under the dim glow of the stars, nobody is short of a little light when natsume and noah's dazzling light show begins. once the main event has closed, a variety of firecrackers are brought out to celebrate with as things begin to wind down. varieties include the classic sparklers, these little spinny bitches, funky little sparkshowers, some little baby rockets, with the larger varieties spanning a couple feet at most. on the opposite side, there's a little table where a birdhouse is kept, and inside stuffed with all sorts of cotton and wood shavings are two birds huddled together inside, and a few treats that people can feed them if interest. if keigo looks at your character from afar, it's fine, that birdhouse they're living in was made by them, after all.
and at the centre of it all will be one boy with a bag over his head, kidnapped by rokuro arata, who sits him down and lets komaeda undo his blindfold — happy birthday, hinata-kun! )

( komaeda has so much to do, actually, so he's not allowed that, but because of how the arm works he's aware he only has so much energy to play around. it's at add's concern(?), that he closes the gap of space that happens to be his personal dimension. he knows better than komaeda does, but to hear that he's leveled up in something makes him blink, almost confused. )
I've been practicing on my off days. Do you think you could teach me? ( not using his powers sends a shiver down his spine as his body tries to account for the energy that was used for such a trick. in the end, the sparkler now spins on the table, lights exploding from all sides in a circle, and by a few inches it always misses hitting add's drink. )
The tricks that important person of yours knows? You've said his name a few times, so I'm guessing he's traveled with you and Ebalon-kun.
( traveled, he might as well say they live in the same world, and engage on a daily because add could work on this arm easily, but nasod tech is where the other excels. )

...
...
not his lucky day. damn.]
... They've never met. As far as I'm aware... Noah is from my world, but I met him in this place. [and it's likely that their paths will cross eventually... but Add won't be there, not if he continues with his own plans.]
Raven... kuku, he detests Nasod technology. We never got along.

( hearing world from add is a nice touch, for someone who goes through multiple realities killing himself without hesitation, all because he finds it as an accomplishment. a personal thing because of his own hate towards himself, so to hear that the noah isn't from any other world, but being able to confirm his world, and his alone. there's merit in that, hearing that he keeps his own world version by his side, and doesn't replace them with others, because if he was really a bad guy, he could have done away with noah, right? )
I'm actually excited to hear about him and you, come on! Tell me some tales.
( it's not often add talks about himself with others... )

[the initial assumption isn't wrong, though. the people he met in his own timeline, the versions of his friends that he travelled with and cherished... he wouldn't accept any replacements so carelessly, no matter how seemingly identical they were. but since Noah is someone he never met in his world, this version of Noah that he knows now... if he ever did cross paths with another, whether he originated from Add's timeline or not, he wouldn't make an acceptable replacement either.
time and space is infinite, but each of those infinite instances are still unique. if he didn't believe that, his journey would've ended years ago, back when he first reached the past he wanted for himself...
none of that is voiced for now, though, because he mind is being directed elsewhere and he's had just enough to drink to consider humouring it.]
We weren't that close... we were just travelling in the same group, that's all. He was an interesting specimen, when he wasn't being nosy...

( first, that even if he's not then it hardly matters, that's how komaeda will read it. he doens't need him to explain wat's already telling, because he wouldn't have had to correct it if that's the case. he shrugs right after, finally peeling himself off of add as he sits properly in a chair righ tnext to him, and with his hands in his lap, he watches the other. )
I like Ebalon-kun too, but Clamor-san thinks I'm a bad influence... do you think I'm bad for people? Cherishing people that a person meets...
( he wishes he could do it, but with a shake of his head, he moves onto raven who was supposedly nosy? he reaches out for a bottle of love setsugetsukka, and he pours a little more in add's cup so that it's full again. once he has it so that the beverage almost overflows, he pulls his hand away to watch the other. )
When you say nosy, it wasn't in what you were doing, was it?
( sounds like people who are close do. )

but it's a difficult thing to deny. he doesn't want to say it, admit to it, but...
he feels a little colder, without Komaeda clinging to his side.]
... if I killed Noah, would you be mad at me? [hypothetically speaking, of course. he picks up his refilled glass with a sigh.] Never mind... forget it.
Raven hated Nasod technology, but he'd poke his nose in my research anyway... safety this, ethics that. Ruined a few of my experiments with his meddling... he never trusted me. Smart.
[or, y'know, he was worried, especially with Add's rapidly declining health during that time... but that can't be it.]

( the type of person komaeda is, people would think that he'd find it fine, and carry on. to hear add ask him is new, whether it's because he thinks komaeda's capable of having thoughts on the matter, or that he won't shrug it off. it makes him feel human, and because of that, he doesn't like that it's presented.
he doesn't get mad, nor does he cry, he doesn't show many feelings. )
I'll give you an honest answer. ( everything he says is honest, though, he doesn't lie when it comes to a talk about this. ) Though, to care about what I think... do you worry how you're perceived? Normally that isn't the case because you'll do as you please.
( has add gotten kinder, no, he always has been. )
Ah...!
( hearing about raven though, it sounds just like what komaeda does — poking his nose in his business, wanting to see what he's up to. looking at his arm, he closes his hand, the shing of the blades that scrape against one another. it's almost like he's adopted that without even knowing. )
Raven-kun hated it, but he stayed around? Ahaha... he can hate the technology, but he must have not despised the creator.
( those are two separate things after all. )

does he care about what other people think of him? it's always been an act, as much as he tries to deny it. he's always cared. that's why it's so hard to push people away.]
Do as I please... but they still don't leave me alone. Troublesome...
[did Raven ever like him...? he's tried not to think about it for so long, it's difficult for him to say now, but... perhaps there were times they got along. nights like what he saw in the elevator, peaceful days where everyone spent time together as a group...
his gaze settles on the claw. blades scraping together, a sound that most would find grating or unsettling but that Add can only think of as a comfort—he trusted Raven, even if Raven shouldn't have trusted him.]
... that doesn't matter, either. I... don't see him anymore, even before this place. Everyone in that group... they were just a liability.

It's not a bad thing that they don't leave you alone.
( if add wanted, he could kill them all easily, he's an entity that surpasses all humans, the thought makes komaeda scrape the claws against one another, just something to do on the side to keep himself busy. he stands up again, walking over to where add was, and he'll slump back in place against him, arm around his arm, and now his voice is just a whisper. )
You can turn your eyes away as much as you want, Add-kun. You know, I think as long as you have those memories, he'll always be there even if you can't see him.
( sight is such a beautiful thing, you can see someone smile, get angry, laugh, that's where you can truly see their expressions. now, people can become anyone, they can look different, but they'll be that person inside — even this arm that komaeda presses his cheek against as he cuddles doesn't have to be the same arm that he knows of. as long as in the end he's able to find add, that's more than enough, even if it's the one in his memories that he'll hold onto when the school is over. )
If you killed Ebalon-kun, would you always remember him? Even if you think of them as liabilities, it's because you don't want to lose them. Ahaha, isn't that right?
