im detective noah ebalon

we have a body near the front of the auditorium. female, unknown age, burnt to a crisp. no tracks leading to or from the body. im here with detective kaede and i think the victim may have been pushed out of the windows above the auditorium or off of the roof. i dont want to leave the scene of the crime at the moment as there are still things to investigate, so im calling for backup. can i please get other detectives to check the 3rd & 4th floors and the roof for evidence?

[ Fastforwarding 48 minutes...

Okay, so, Hiro doesn't actually know who Miyuki is. He isn't one to pay much attention to others, and Miyuki had just joined the student council and so wasn't on his radar for very long, so this is sort of guesswork, arriving at the student council room and thinking he'd lucked out in seeing somebody there who is maybe maybe not Miyuki.

Hiro is going to stand there like ten feet away and stare at him. Maybe recognition goes the other way, and he'll do something guilty, and Hiro can pretend he knew exactly who he was coming for all along. ]

[ Recognition goes as far as familial resemblance, anyway. Miyuki hasn't moved an inch, letting Shin continue on with his investigation and keeping his eyes on the PDA, the expectation of a reply fading by the minute.

That changes once he spots Hiro, leering at him. His heart sinks, forced here to confront a bereaved sibling. He knows nothing of the Arisus in the end, only in what Maya had told him and in how she was as president. He doesn't know how he'll react, but as a representative, he has to face this head on. ]

Hiro Arisu?

[ He forces himself to stand up, meeting Hiro's eyes. Not breaking eye contact for a second. ]

[adsum]

[ Admission of guilt... he thinks... maybe. His expression doesn't change much, and for once in his life he's glad for that, a slow nod that answers Miyuki's question except he can't hold eye contact for very long and looks down at his feet.

The anger is there, the sadness, the weight of a knife in his pocket that should be out and sticking through the back side of Miyuki's throat by now, but more than anything...

is confusion. What happened? Why? Why did they have to take his sister?

He lifts his eyes back up to meet Miyuki's and waits for an explanation. ]

Natsume, who said he'd be there but then stalled because Maya's not dead if he doesn't see her body:

guesses he has no choice but to go, which is why he'll get a hammer from the workshop (he'll return it later okay) before he actually round-trips back this w...ay...

Natsume clears his throat so it isn't that much of a surprise to Hiro that he's getting tapped on the back and so he isn't getting stabbed by one of his best friends here, but, uh— )

While perpetrators often return to the scene of the CRIME, the fact that Shirogane-kun looks like he might pass out at any moment relieves him of most suspicion for NOW. ( "Like he might pass out" is probably too big of an exaggeration, but he hides the hammer as he passes them, Hiro's not allowed to see. ) Don't stab him YET, Hiro-kun.

[ Maybe he look like he's about to pass out... out of guilt! Hiro can stab him the moment Natsume enters the room and is out of sight, that counts as "yet." ]

[ Miyuki had mulled over what to say next, a platitude or just trying to explain what he was doing here... and then Natsume shows up. He's right in that he really, really wants to pass out and maybe hopefully wake up and find out this whole thing's a bad dream. But as it stands--

Hey--

[ AUGH, he's gone in!

That massive amount of pressure he had on him just exploded exponentially. Augh!!! ]

[adsum]

[ The door clicks shut, and Hiro advances with his knife. ]

[ Well, now that this has gotten many, many times worse than it was, there's now an added element. Part of him wanted to believe that Hiro was here just to verify what had been said, but now...

He's definitely here for revenge, isn't he. Even more than that, does he really think that he...

...why wouldn't he think that? ]

...Arisu.

[ Miyuki's hands are quivering just a bit, in contrast to the poker face he's trying to keep up top, again trying to keep his eyes on Hiro's. He's got to keep this together. ]

I can't imagine how this feels for you. I know you have no reason to believe what I say, but... whatever you think I did to President Arisu, I want to assure you. The worst thing I did here today was open the door an hour ago and see a classmate of mine dead.

[ This guy's sister. Really, whatever he's feeling, anxious or terrified, he knows it pales in comparison to what Hiro's thinking in his mind. ]

I can promise you. We want to work with you and help get to the bottom of this. If you don't want me to assist, I can understand. I'll leave this to the others. In the end I'd like to do right by you, but-- I can't do that while dead.

Please. Put the knife away.

[ The worst thing he did was real person rp, Hiro hadn't forgotten that, punk. He doesn't put the knife away, but he does lower it. And then holds it back up. He gestures with it, because even now— especially now— this is all he can do to get his thoughts out.

He points the knife at Miyuki, then pulls it back to hold up one finger, and tap that finger to the back of his wrist, like one would a watch. Time. One hour. CSI MIAMI RP started an hour ago; what has Miyuki figured out in that time? Answer as if your life depends on it. ]

[ Knife, point, and... time. Is that, what has he actually done in the last hour since they started investigating in earnest...

...

He's. Been sulking here for the last hour. Which is very much not good. Alright. ]

...I arrived here an hour ago. From what I saw when I entered, there had been dried blood on the floor. By my estimation, and the rate at which blood dries, I'd say... it would have had to have happened at least an hour prior to me getting there.

[ A pause. UGH, he doesn't have anything else... ]

Hiyori would know more. He brought me out here after we found the body. [ Which, even though Shin was the one who made the announcement, he's not going to point that out. He did get that with his permission, after all. ]

He's still in the student council room, and I'm sure he can corroborate what I'm saying.

[ That was him speaking earlier, after all. ]

[ Sometime before 5 in the morning... Overnight, essentially, like every single one of those Stupid Extra Murders that have happened this school year because nobody is content to just stab somebody in the gut and leave it at that. That rules out half the school, and of the half that's left, who would benefit most by Maya being out of the way?

Hiro stares at the newest student council member.

Then peers around him at the closed door like he means to march in there and ask Hiyori for his take. What's he doing in there? Natsume is inside too. ... ]

[ An angle he hadn't even thought of, mostly because it hadn't crossed his mind. He's already sure he's got to bring it up to Ishimaru, but he doesn't have any information because he's been busy feeling bad for himself instead of investigating. It's frustrating.

On the other hand, they've had plenty of time to hopefully bring the body from the ceiling and... have found out more about what happened. It's not a pretty sight, definitely not one that Hiro would appreciate being shown. He's completely been backed against the wall.

Come on. You can figure out how to prove your innocence, Miyuki Shirogane...!

Sorry, guys. ]

We'll go in. [ Miyuki places his hands up, keeping them where Hiro can see them. Showing that he's unarmed. ] If you aren't satisfied by what you've seen, then...

[ He trails off. He hasn't settled things with Shinomiya yet. He's had her on his mind for the last 55 minutes now. He doesn't want to die before then.

But, as a student council member, having witnessed his President dead, he's got no other choices left. ]

[ What in the world can possibly satisfy him besides opening the door and finding Natsume holding up a sign saying "Shirogane did it"

But anyways, yeah, we can suspend time here until the investigation is at a good place to merge ]
