January mini-event part 2

✽ The silence has lifted once more, but the school remains relatively silent. The chatter and footsteps of students moving through the halls won't be there for some time. The Principal's office remains deadly cold and frozen, but if anyone is brave enough to try and push it open, they'll find that it won't open. The door seems to be stuck, almost as though there's something heavy pressed up against the door.

Location/body: school grounds
Action: Something horrible has happened. Even in the afterlife, Nanami can't seem to fully escape the specter of death around her. And from what she's heard, it's not the first time somebody's died recently. What IS this place?
But on hearing that there's work to be done, she gets to it. She wants to help, with however meager an offering she can. The wisteria tree outside is a place of comfort now, so she'll start from there and slowly work her way outwards, checking the grounds for anything relatively unusual, sometimes staring up at the school building too to see if there's anything out of place on the building's exterior.

There doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary outside of the school. It's cold and snowy, with paths carved out by students. Please let me know if she wants to do a more thorough inspection anywhere!

Oh well, worth a shot.

She doesn't really know where the victim hung out, so she'll continue with her daily routine but try to look for anything out of the ordinary. She'll particularly keep an eye peeled in the library, the dorms, and the game club room.

The next time she sits down in the game club room, Lily May will trot over and claim her lap before begging to purr. That is her lap now.

Oh! Oh no that's cute. Nanami will absentmindedly scritch Lily May's ears while continuing to play Mario Kart with one hand. This is fine. Gaming buddies!

wanders in here 20 years later with a bonus clue bc I thought of one...

Earlier or later, depending on your preference, Nanami will go past the lockers to find a student loudly complaining about their math course. They slam their locker as hard as possible and walk away.

This might not be of much interest, as Yogen students seem to be chronically bad at math, but the locker next to theirs seems to have not shut completely, as the door creaks open. It seems somebody didn't shut it firmly enough - unusual, with all the petty thievery in this place.

She's played games long enough for it to start getting pretty late in the day, the hall dark with shadows as the last few stragglers head home. Nanami hears the complaints from down the hall and flinches as they slam it... and then they're walking away. Nanami peers around the corner to see the locker hanging open.

... That's ... probably not good, right?

She looks around to see if anybody is coming back for it, but the hall is empty. So she creeps over to the locker to close it - but can't help peeking inside as she's about to.

There's a thin layer of dust in the locker. It seems as though it was used until relatively recently. If Nanami is looking closely, she'll notice that there's a small gap in the dust - a thin, clean rectangle between the dust and the items left on the shelf.

On the shelf itself there's several colorful folders, those thin plastic ones you assign colors to subjects. If she cares to go through them, math is red. Inside are slightly crumpled old math exams with failed grades. There's the other subjects as well, color coded. The assignments appear to belong to Kouji Seki.

She stares at the locker when she sees it, subconsciously memorizing the details. Why is everything here dusty...

Almost without thinking, she thumbs through the folders and finds the math one, spotting the name up top. Kouji Seki. Maybe she can help him with math later? That sounds like a nice thing to do maybe. She's okay at it.

As Nanami is going through the math paperwork, she might notice that there are other colors as well. There's also folders for Japanese (including literature), Science, Mathematics, English, and a couple other subjects. There's spots of dust on them, but they seem to have been brushed off. The corner of a page is sticking out of the Japanese folder. A few of the pages are a little crumpled, and it gives the impression that someone was trying to stuff in too many papers at once without using much care.

Surely this person won't mind if she tries to neaten up his folders a bit... she opens the Japanese folder in an attempt to get the papers in there to sit more neatly.

The papers are arrange chronologically, but if she pages through them she'll find that there are a few that are out of order now, and a few of the papers are crumbled. There's nothing else that seems to be of interest; however, if she later looks at the note that was left by Hiro's desk later she may find that the writing is familiar.

Hmm... all of that seems to be in order now, so she carefully puts everything back and then closes the locker, latching it shut if possible. She stays there in the hallway staring at it for a bit, puzzling over a couple of things, before quietly heading back to the dorms.

Nanami also stares at the rectangle without dust, trying to figure out how big it is. What could fit there?

It's directly in front of the folders. It's about the same length as the folders themselves, and it's only a couple inches long. It looks as though someone had taken them out and tried to put them back in the exact same spot, but their positioning was a little off. It's worth noting that the position is only off vertically. Horizontally it was placed exactly in line with where it had been before and was not even a centimeter off the mark.
