On this map is the coordinates everybody will show up at and also Mordovia Arena because it was the only thing I could label with full confidence without having to translate Russian. Please use this interactive map to find your way around, and this page for notable locations. Below are some snapshots of places around Saransk, and according to the travel guide there are amusement parks and even a small petting zoo to be found in the city.

It's pretty? This isn't how this was supposed to happen, so real talk I did not foresee having to know anything about Russia.

Regarding the other coordinates on the note that Alice received when he arrived, is a detour during this detour possible, or is this best left for another time?

it's possible, he'd just have to ask Add! that said, the location is a whole bunch of trees in the middle of a forest, and there isn't anything notable to find at this time. compared to the Saransk rendezvous, Alice may assume he's missing the "when" to his "where"

Speaking of detours, Shin definitely wants to not be shot again, and Add says he's good at wilderness survival (he is not), can they end up getting lost and starving to death (well, Shin will be) in the wilderness at the mystery coordinates?

This is mostly bc I want the possibility of Shin seeing his own skeleton if they later visit at the correct time I'm crying

[ One by one, characters get spat out of Add's portal onto a riverbank stretching left and right as far as the eye can see. It's nippy out, but the sky is clear and the sun is shining, quiet and peaceful for the lack of people around.

It's them, the rushing river, and a stranger standing at the edge and staring out across the water. ]

[ Well, there's no time to waste at times like these, is there? As the person before him is spacing out, and Ranger has no reservations about doing so, he'll approach and snap his fingers a few times to grab attention. The sound is dulled by the gloves he wears, but audible enough. ]

Wake up kiddo.

[At least the trip through the empty void is fairly uneventful... alas, Add is still going to be cranky by the end of it because he's dragging like 10+ people behind him. Try not to stray from the group along the way, time is fake and you might go insane before someone can go back to find you.

But anyway, everyone else really is getting spat onto the ground, sorry to whoever thought it was a good idea to be up front. Add hovers close by to maintain the portal, but as soon as he notices that someone standing by the river...

cupping his hands around his mouth] Hey, asshole! Pick a better meeting spot next time!

( he's going to trot behind their victim? he's literally a victim at this moment, and peek over their shoulder to see what they're looking at. his hands lift, pressing against their back, but he doesn't push, he's just making sure that they're there, and that they're real.

[ The person starts to turn when they hear Ranger's voice, and almost turns back around again when Add chimes in, if not for Komaeda going right up and touching her? hello??

She doesn't look surprised at them being her, but she does raise her eyebrows a little and seems to do a mental headcount of how many people actually showed up, silently mouthing words to herself. ]

...Well, whatever. This is the meeting place one of you guys gave us, so you're barking up the wrong tree here, Addward.

... but also, hm. did he give his name before? definitely not his real name... so this person must know him somehow? makes sense if they're a former student, but still annoying.

[ People can continue introducing themselves in the comment above, but after the last person has their turn, the girl does her teacher clap again. ]

[ Alright, alright. Hands on her hips, glancing from one side of the group to the other to make sure everybody's attention is on her ]

My name is Luka! One of the graduates from class 2006, and I was just joshing you, nobody told us the coordinates. We found it in this:

[ She takes out what looks like a wooden figurine of a fox or a wolf or some sort of cute quadrupedal animal with pointy ears and a bushy tail— looks over the group again— and underhand tosses it towards Shin, who doesn't look strong or compulsive enough to just throw this on the ground to break it. Shin will find that the wood is coated in resin, and underneath, the wood is neatly scored in right angles, the resin above those lines painstakingly chiseled through to match. ]

You twist the head off first.

[ It's a puzzle box, and Shin (or somebody else if he decides to pass it along) will find the following carved in the hollow chest cavity in the very heart of the figure: ]

[After Lucifer starts a fucking gang he gets bored and comes to Russia. He'll nebulously be at the meeting point with everyone else, but, more importantly, when there isn't Plot going on, he can be found at the museums admiring everything within, and also glowering at every single cathedral and church he passes by because he's haunted by his Father at all turns. He will tell you that the rumour of him burning if he steps foot on sacred ground is an old wives' tale very insistently if you ask about it.

People will also quickly find out that Lucifer, old as he is, also can speak pretty good Russian, so he'll translate anything that needs translating. Roughly. Translations may be semi-inaccurate because he almost never uses Russian when he visits the human world, but it won't be super bad. Probably.

And yes, like with Disney, you may also pester Lucifer to buy you food.]

[It's when they have some downtime that Childe sidles up next to Lucifer, hands in his pockets and looking just a tad bored. Probably because there's not much action occurring in that very moment, which makes him antsy.]

I didn't know you could speak Snezhnayan. You're fairly decent too, albeit a few of your word pronunciations here and there could use a bit of work. I doubt it's something non-native speakers might notice, though, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. [This, of course, is all said within the Fantasy-Russian dialect from Teyvat that essentially sounds exactly like Non-Fiction-Russian.]

[Lucifer is momentarily confused because he's pretty sure he spoke Russian, and then he puts two and two together — Childe's from a world where killing God is normal and acceptable and doesn't delete the balance of the plane from existence, and Snezhnayan must be a similar dialect...

Well, it's fine. He understood that, so it doesn't matter.]

Where I come from, the language is actually known as "Russian", and is more commonly spoken by humans in the country of Russia. It's normally fairly snowy and frigid in certain parts of the country, though I haven't been to Russia in several hundred years.

[And he's never been to Saransk before, so this is a new slice of the pie.]

The weather here is quite nice, however. It's a rare day when I get to enjoy the human world without working.

[He's dead and so there's no work to be done and maybe just this once it's okay to be dead because it means he gets to go to museums and not babysit Diavolo.]

[There's a measure of warmth that creeps into his expression as he hears Lucifer describe this Russia, and maybe a bit of forlorn longing. He's always incredibly homesick, now of all times considering it feels like he's so close to his homeland.]

The same as where I'm from, then. Snezhnaya is a beautiful frozen wonderland, a glittering icy jewel set within the lands of Teyvat. The glaciers and solid rivers paint a landscape of pure beauty, and I miss it dearly with every breath I take.

[He tilts his head to let his eyes roam across their surroundings, and it's almost familiar enough to make his heart ache.] I have to say that I'm in complete agreement; today is a good day.

[Lucifer nods like, he gets it, Snezhnaya is just god-killing Russia. Actually killing God sounds like a Russian thing to do?]

Tell me more about Snezhnaya. I'm curious to compare it to the country I'm more familiar with.

[Lucifer thinks for a moment, and then decides he should actually be specific, so:]

Walk with me and we can find something to eat, and you could tell me about how the cuisine compares to the sort you're more used to. After your success in the cooking contest, I'm quite intrigued.

( it's the glower at the church that catches komaeda's attention, and he'll look at the church before looking back to lucifer. he'll speak in russian too because he's capable of doing so: )

Lucifer-kun... Not a big fan, I take it.

( he understands why, but that also reminds him that he used to be an angel a long time ago until he fell from grace, that story of old of how your companion can turn against you, and so no one is free of sin, or however it goes. komaeda's not a big fan of religion, but he is, where he comes from — ultimates are treated as gods, especially the one who holds every talent in existence. he wanted to be god himself at one point, but lacked the hope to do so, and here he is, talking to the devil of all people. )

What do you think of the Ophanim? Are there any of those like that down in hell?

[Lucifer doesn't expect Komaeda to know Russian, so he's a little caught off guard by it. It manages to wipe his glare off of his face, even.]

Ah, the Ophanim. I'll admit, their horrifying appearances were the most intimidating they ever got. I recall them being quite annoying, truth be told, since they always floated around my Father's throne and would listen in on conversations that I would have liked to be private.

[They'll tell you "be not afraid" while perceiving you from a thousand different angles with all their beady lil eyes. Lucifer doesn't have the evidence to back this up, but he always thought of them as know-it-all gossips considering their position.]

In the Devildom, we have some many-eyed beasts, though they certainly don't tell you to "be not afraid". Quite the opposite. As a lesser example, one of our most beloved animals is the three-eyed crow, which not only has three eyes, but three legs as well.

Is that so? How interesting, and they're meant to be terrifying... I think I like them.

( when lucifer says quite the opposite, komaeda thinks that too. he likes all animals, so not one goes from under his radar, it's why he befriended the rats in the walls, and so on, and makes friend with these humans, and so forth. his eyes look up at the church, the bright sun burning his eyes before he looks back over to lucier; seeing him makes everything a little better in that regard as he compares the ophanim between the crows. )

You don't think that's what the crow in Yogen symbolizes, do you?

( a long shot, but probably not though what can be said of purgatory? it's between life and death, they're no closer to heaven than they are to hell, and so specific ideas could be reused. he sees the people at the church waving them over, wanting the two to join in — know how friendly churches are and all when they see new townsfolk they've never seen. )

Perhaps kin of some sort... I'm sorry if I'm boring you with such age old questions, it just makes me curious some days.
