( so, it's like this: nobody likes komaeda.
well, it seems that way a lot of the time, from what norton's observing, and the unfortunate fact of the matter? no matter how absolutely off-his-rocker insane he's been acting, he... well, real or not, he didn't seem to be a bad guy in those memories norton has of him. try as he might, he can't simply act as though they don't exist either. so instead, with a sigh of defeat and an important date that he'd learned in those strange memories in mind, he'll go about collecting those who seem to be... more tolerant (even if that's a generous way to express it) of komaeda lately.
he's already arranged for the most reliable chef he's yet to meet in this school to help by preparing a birthday cake, (and learned quite a bit in the process, actually,) and he's let the others know where they should gather. so, when norton decides it's about time to drag komaeda to the survival club's meeting room for some kind of survival club-related excuse of a reason, there should hopefully already be at least a couple of people there and waiting for them—including one boy holding a white cat who may or may not look a little out of his element.
his voice is soft, but as the cake and the small collection of people he's managed to gather come into view, norton offers a smile. )

( sure, he's questioning her opinions, curious of what outlook she has on him despite the way he acts. )
What if you break yours and stop giving them... you know breaking promises is bad luck.

she does break the hug, but only so that she can better put her fists on her hips.] I promise that I will both give you a hug every day, for however long we're here, and not tell any of your friends that you need a daily hug.
[she's sure he already has great difficulties being seen as cool she will not hamper him further.]

( he taps a finger against his chin in thought, looking her directly in the eyes and soon after, he smiles softly without answering. )
Stephanie-san, you're still going to help me hang it, right? ( this is where he reaches out again, grabbing one of her arms from her hips as he presses his forehead against the back of her hand. )

( actually, she caught him slipping when he kneeled down because that's what he was aiming for from the start, but he left himself open. it's a little embarrassing when he thinks about it so he shakes his head to push away those thoughts. )

I've said it before, but as long as you all work together towards Hope, then there's no need to be strong for me. ( that's not the role they have anyway, and while he does have a tiny, swole child on his side, she gets the same old explanation. )
Ordinary people are able to make it, ( hopefully... ) so that's why I have faith in you.

( don't get him to lying, but he does follow where hope takes him so as long as everyone on this team works hard towards that same goal... komaeda's willing to listen, or assist. he takes a step forward, looking around the music room for a split second as he gathers his thoughts. ) You all know what you have to do... as long as you work together and never let the bonds you have break, hope will easily win.
( and if not, then he put his attention in the wrong group. )
Ah... I'm pretty pessimistic sometimes, but it shouldn't influence any of you. That's because you have people who'll make you happy.

( so it's okay, he's as normal as stephanie, kind of. but don't tell him that because he'll get on his high horse and claim he's an ultimate again, yeah, komaeda's brain works messed up. )
Stephanie-san, when can a person decide that someone shouldn't be happy? ( he thinks, tapping his chin in thought. ) Do you have to do good things for that to happen? Isn't a life like that miserable, but I'm always happy, so you should make everyone else happy too.

I just don't know what you think "good" means... or what you think most anything else means, really. That's what I mean by upside down; you always use words the exact opposite way I would. [beat] It's not wrong, just different.

( he stares at the wall before them as he wonders if that would be the perfect spot, but he doubts it. ) Being mean can also give you nice things in return, so you shouldn't look at it like that.
( he's just giving some advice as an adult! though, it's all wisdom departed from how his life has been. )
Hope is everywhere, I know you had it too, because if you didn't... you wouldn't be here, even this place is a stepping stone to strengthen your own.
