MARCH EVENT LOG
At midnight on March 1st, a rolling lightning storm hits Yogen. Thunder crackles, and strikes of Anvil Crawler lighting can be seen lighting up the sky; anyone paying attention to the courtyard may see the explosive strike of lightning hitting the wisteria tree. Petals scatter throughout the air and are carried off in every direction by the wind...
As the month goes on the school will start to look even more barren. As the month goes on, several students start to disappear, with rumors spreading here and there about students disappearing after entering the forest. Those rumors twist and warp, and within just a few days there are rumors of a witch in the forest. But it's not a witch, nor a ghost, or anything else, but a dream, and those who enter will find themselves reminded of such by a soothing voice, the voice of a person they're familiar with, speaking gently in their ears:
"You are dreaming... They have always led and will always lead you here... Remind yourself, this is a dream..."
The world shifts subtly. There are gravestones marking the pathway now, and before long the forest is replaced by a completely new scene. A voice reminds you once more that this is a dream, and that you have always been here. You have always been led to this place. But where is this place? It's the world of a player character. It's nothing more than a snapshot in time. It might be one that they wish to escape, or perhaps a warm memory of a time that they wish to return to, but it is always an important memory to the character.
Whichever it is, the only way is to move forward. As characters move through the memory, characters will soon notice a snake and holly tattoo that spreads over their body will be. It starts small, a clump on one's back, but will spread across all parts of a character's body. It will reach the neck and face last, killing them upon reaching the eyes. As the curse spreads, they will notice changes in the dream including hallucinations, hearing lullabies, and shades that pursue them. They will also notice increased exhaustion and lethargy.
Upon reaching the end of the memory, they will find a glowing ball of light representative of a lost student's soul. Finding the soul will lead to both characters awakening at the edge of the forest, and the character who had been dreaming will be covered with the tattoo for a brief moment before it disappears.
Those who entered the dream may hear that same voice from before that tugs at their mind as the dream fades away:
"Remind yourself, this is a dream, and soon you will awaken. But you are here, as you always have been, and as you always will be... Soon, you will wonder where you were, and each moment after, will bring you here..."

Those who entered the dream may hear that same voice from before that tugs at their mind as the dream fades away:
✽ Dreams may be whoelsale memories, or they may be more akin to dreamscapes based on a person's memories or mental state.
✽ The holly pattern represents the pain of love and aches of the heart, while the snake represents the yearning for the dead that consume a person.
✽ The tattoos will be blue or red.
✽ Characters may be drawn into the forest more than once, or require multiple memories to be gone through before reappearing. In those cases, the character who had gone through the initial memory will simply wake up in the forest alone.
✽ Characters who hear the voice upon leaving the dream will be more susceptible to entering and being lost in the forest.
✽ Anyone who is not rescued by the end of the month will be found at the edge of the forest. The tattoo will cover their body and stop just short of their eyes. It will disappear within an hour, but they will be exhausted for the rest of the day.

But it's fine, because someone is, apparently, going to go find him. Or maybe it's just a coincidence that you find yourself here, a strained voice whispering in your ears with an almost desperate energy—you are dreaming, remind yourself that this is a dream...
The forest shifts. Before you is a neatly-kept path lined by white anemones, petals so fragile that they fall and scatter at even the slightest touch. To the left is the smell of smoke and a warm, flickering light that dances from beyond the trees. To the right is a steady hum of electronics and a distant blue glow, steadily pulsing in time with your breath.
... or you could just stay where you are, though the forest grows darker by the minute and the air turns cold and still, an unnatural silence closing in from all around.
((cw: a lot of child abuse/neglect/murder in like... most of these options, probably. just assume it's gonna get fucked up. i'll be trying to cater things to CR/characters tho so let me know if there's something in particular you definitely want me to avoid or if you want me to steer the thread in a different direction!!))

The electronics are too tempting, as well. Her chest rises and falls in time with the glow. If the glowing stops, her breathing might stop too, and she wouldn't even mind.
Some part of her belongs there. She moves without thinking in the direction of the strange blue light.
no subject
Of course, there's no obvious way to open the door... but should she step forward, there's an echoing thunk of some unseen mechanism as a seam splits down the centre of it. It looks heavy, but the panels will part easily with a touch.
no subject
But there's work to be done, isn't there? She came here for a reason. She moves forward to the doors, and with a touch, opens the way forward.
no subject
The doors will slowly clack shut behind her as soon as she steps through them, though. Should she try to open them again, she'll find that they won't budge—there's no turning back now. The only choice is to go forward.
At the end of the hallway is a wide open room, brightly lit by the glowing blue orb embedded high above her head. The walls are lined with shelves from floor to ceiling, and what few spaces aren't lead down other hallways like the one she entered from. But the other halls are lined with more shelves, more of the strange metal slabs slotted neatly within, and it should quickly become apparent that this place is some sort of library. There's no paper in these books, but they flicker to life at a touch, information streaming across the flat surface of each tome. Physics, chemistry, biology, quantum mechanics, medicine... scientific journals, research notes, educational textbooks. All the knowledge a budding scientist could ever ask for.
The room hums like a giant server, though the noise isn't unpleasantly loud... still, now that she's further in, she can finally make out another sound at the end of one of the halls. A male voice, muffled, but faintly familiar...
no subject
And then she's in a library, and her eyes widen. She lingers longer than she'd like, perusing tablet after tablet... her mind seems to take in the information quicker than her eyes can flick across the text. It's all here. Everything. She could learn about the whole world this way...
Perhaps hours later, or it could be days, Nanami stirs upon hearing the voice. She recognizes it. She remembers the reason she came here in the first place. Replacing a tablet on neuroscience onto the shelves, Nanami quickly walks towards the source, determination in her heart.

that could be because komaeda's that close to death, that his breathing is so slow, it's like he should be dead by now.
he doesn't choose a path, yet, and instead he looks for a tree close by to use, something he can climb to see what's beyond all the paths in order to make his decision. if he does so, is there anything that stands out? )
no subject
As he looks over the forest surrounding him, he'll see... mostly just trees, but at the end of the flower path he'll just barely make out the roof of a large mansion, to the left is a raging fire marked with a thick column of smoke, and to the right is a barren cliffside with a glowing ruin built into it.
And if he turns around, he'll see that behind him is one of those floating cubes hovering at just the right altitude for a mysterious masked man to stare at him. The man is seated in a comfortable chair, upsidedown, and holding a tea cup despite the fact that his mask obviously wouldn't allow him to drink it.]
Peeking ahead, are you? Some would call that cheating.

...
sitting properly on a branch allows him to weigh his options, but he finds himself staring up at the sky. there's no sun to burn his eyes, unless that dark orb with the ring represents it. he's seen something like this before with noah, and then the make-up of the clouds? blocks? remnants of material appear puts him in the mind of dynamo. it's easy to connect what he has to this, but his choices ever more difficult.
noticing the mansion reminds him of home, but as large as it was, the strong loneliness was suffocating. he wonders if that's the case too, but this is a dream, so maybe it could be a sweet one. the fire feels more comfortable because of how familiar it is, watching his own world go up into smoke by his efforts, the bodies that were burned by the fire, turned to ash, and mixed in with toxic air—
it's almost like window shopping, but he has someome talking to him now. komaeda turns his head to look over, examining who the voice belongs to even though he can't tell if it's truly from him. the mask makes it hard, but harder for him to drink whatever he has.
he lifts a hand, waving it towards the other so that he doesn't seem rude. )
You're watching over me... so do you find it cheating?
( some, but not all which leaves room for this person not to think that way. )
No one said up wasn't an option.
no subject
There are always more paths than the ones you can see, but does seeing them make any difference? You still won't know what each of them mean until you go there yourself. So, what is it you're looking for? Something familiar? Something easy?
[he lifts the cup to his "mouth", and... is there even anything in that cup?? maybe it doesn't matter. this is a dream, after all. at least he seems to be enjoying himself.]
no subject
( it's because he chose this, and then he appeared, and if komaeda had chosen a path, he doubts he would have come into contact with this eccentric person.
this is a dream, he shouldn't be surprised. )
And how are you familiar with him?
( what does he have to do with add, he even squints to see if there's any resemblance between him, and this person. he tries to stare into the one vacant eye of his, wondering why it doesn't glow as much as the other. )
It would be nice if we can properly understand one another.

Typical. ]
Add-chan? Are you still here?
[ She came here for a reason...she isn't going to leave him alone. The path with the flowers seems the nicest, Add secretly likes pleasant things right? Sara will slowly follow it. ]
no subject
The flower path is the nicest for sure. Well worn, well kept, even and free of roots and branches... though it winds and narrows as she travels deeper, a warm orange sky peeking through the leaves overhead. The passage of time feels nebulous, but eventually she reaches the path's end and finds herself at the entrance to a large mansion surrounded on all sides by forest and thick iron fences. She can see the glass walls of a greenhouse filled with plants attached to one side, though the rest just looks like a nondescript mansion that the author(s) forgot to describe at any point.
Lucky for Sara, the gate appears to be unlocked and so is the front door. Absolutely no one is going to stop her from breaking in. As far as she can tell, she's still the only one here.]
no subject
Sara might try to break in before she sheepishly realizes that the gate is open and so is the front door. She knocks as she enters like she didn't spend ten minutes trying to open the windows around the house. ]
Hello? Is anyone here? [ Its a wonderful building, but its weird to see no one around. Sara peaks at nondescript mansion things, looking for a sign of life. ]
Add if both you and Noah had mansions this whole time, I'm going to be really mad! If...Clamor also has a mansion...I'm never talking to anyone from this world ever again!
no subject
The building feels warm, familiar... but lonely. Even the servant-drones are gone as quickly as they appear.
She has a feeling that the bedrooms are upstairs, where someone might be sleeping, or she can try the greenhouse to see if someone might be there instead. There is also a door locked with a keypad that looks awfully suspicious... but maybe she can crack it with a bit of luck?]
no subject
Bedrooms...bedrooms are closer though, if all else fails, she'll follow a dynamo upstairs. ]

Dreams are just like other worlds, other fragments. And to Furude Rika, who has never been in worlds like this, it intrigues her. It calls to her. However, she finds herself pouting a little bit childishly when the paths are split.]
How rude... but I suppose life is that way at times too, isn't it?
[She speaks mostly to herself because she wants to explore--she wants to be able to see everything that the world has to offer her. Maybe that's just her instinct as a witch, however.
Now, which way to go...
Fine.
Let's have the dice roll and decide her fate.
She closes her eyes and spins around, humming to herself a small song. When she opens her eyes, she makes the decision.
She goes right.]
Well, the sound is rather interesting, I suppose.
no subject
Embedded in the cliff side is the source of the blue light: a glowing door between two snake-like statues, with a shallow pool of water right in front of it. There's no apparent way to open it, but should she approach, a mechanical thunk will sound from somewhere within before a seam splits down the middle of the slab. It looks heavy, but the doors part easily with only a gentle push.]
no subject
But that's something that she can put to the side for the time being.
That door is much more interesting, and the mechanical sounds make her jump slightly in surprise before she pushes the door and subsequently pushes forward. What do we got beyond these doors?]
no subject
Maybe it is, and maybe it isn't. If she was cognizant of that right now, the only difference should be that she'd be able to do things she's never been able to! Let her fly, or breathe fire or something of the sort.
As it stands right now, she's picking up on the smell of smoke. Something's out here, maybe camping...?
"Oh gosh... hello?" Bonnie calls out, putting on a worried voice. Either way, she moves towards that flickering light, curious and preparing herself for what may happen.
no subject
There's shouting as she gets closer to the source, and from the treeline she can finally see a large mansion in a clearing—or what was a large mansion, except it's completely engulfed in roaring flames. The forest itself seems fine for now, though she can see more smoke from something even further out—another building? A town? It's hard to tell from here.
There's shouting... but it's not screams, more like cheers, someone barking commands. She can see the silhouettes of several people standing around the building, holding guns. They circle around the building, surrounding it, looking for something...
... somewhere to her left there's a rustling in the bushes, something trying and failing to move quietly away from all of this. She can investigate the bushes, or perhaps ask one of the very trustworthy strangers with guns what's up.

The gate has been left open, and the front door is unlocked. The inside of the mansion is clean and well-kept, if a bit lonely.]

where is she?
after a moment, nene pauses and... hrm. how can she justify being here? lingering at the gate, nene watches this peaceful home before walking to the greenhouse and trying to peek in. hello? )

The shadow passes by her again—a woman in a white lab coat, diligently watering plants one by one... until she spots Nene. She stops, looking surprised for a moment before smiling softly, walking over to open the nearby door along the windowed wall.]
What are you doing out there? You know you're not supposed to go outside by yourself... [gently chastising, and there's a hint of concern in her voice... but it's concern, not anger, and it passes once she confirms Nene looks unharmed.]
